Contractor showed up the first day 6/30/25 as promised and removed all patio pavers (approx. 180 16 x16 pavers) and placed them all over the back yard. They were due to come back the following day and did not show up until 7/4/25 after I called them and complained that the pavers were killing the grass sitting on the lawn during a heat wave. When they finally showed up they removed the Pavers from the lawn and stacked them on our deck and then left. They showed up again the next day 7/5/25 to prepare the base. They unloaded about 10 bags of Play Sand from Home Depot and used them to prepare the base. They never used a compactor or any other tools to prep the base or when laying the pavers. I even had to loan them some tools that they were missing. Upon my later research, I found that you should never use play sand for a patio base or to fill the spaces between the pavers. The proper method is to use crushed rock for the base and to fill the cracks with Polymeric filler, never play Sand. After the first two rain events much of the sand started to wash out around the pavers and some pavers started to settle and shift. We were unable to make contact with A Class Masonry either by phone or email and their website is now out of service. In the end we lost our initial deposit of $4,500 and I was lucky enough to stop payment on the last $2,000 check. We are very disappointed in Angi. Yes, I know we should have asked for references from Class A Masonry & Construction and in hindsight we should not have been so trusting. But that is the reason my wife used Angi in the first place and seeing a 5 Star Rating for this contractor led us to go ahead without checking them out. Why should we, that is the whole idea of Angi. We plan to file a police report and take them to small claims court if we can even locate them? Meanwhile we called another contractor and had the entire job redone correctly by real professionals for $4,249 as well as the same type of work for the front brick walk for an additional $2,177. I could go on forever with other problems and issues with the job and I have all kinds of photos and videos of this joke of a job. We are still waiting to have the lawn repaired in the fall which will set us back another $1,000 or more.

I found this contractor to be a complete scam. I hired them to pull up our patio pavers and relevel, prep and replace the pavers to resolve settling pavers that were sinking and not level. We were sold a bill of goods and found that these people had no idea what they were doing. Not only did they do such a poor job that we had to hire someone else to completely re do the job but they also ruined our back yard when they left the pavers all over the yard for days in the hot sun. After completing the job, we were unable to contact them either by phone or email. Their Website is now down and the phone line is disconnected. Upon researching later, I found that this contractor did nothing correctly. They used SandBox sand to prepare the base and to fill the seams between the pavers which washes out every time it rains. They did not fill in the edges of the patio so the pavers are shifting after only a few weeks. We ended up having the entire job redone by another contractor.

A-class masonry & construction worked for me a few weeks ago on my chimney. They replaced my chimney to perfection as it was it a poor condition. I was very pleased with there performance very professional and high-quality work. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking to upgrade there property.
