My rental apartment's electrical water heater tank leaked, I called Hohmann for help. They didn't come to check, instead, they said right a way it needs to be replaced and asked me to send them a picture of the heater tank plate with model #, I did. After 2 days, I got an estimate of $4k to replace the heater, very pricy for a $600 heater tank, but I accepted the estimate and paid $2k for deposit. I got a lot of pressure from my tenant. I called them the next day, they said they need to ask the manufacture for a special built tank. But they haven't submit the order yet, they will submit the order tomorrow, 2 days after I paid the deposit. Finally they showed up, 17 days after my 1st call. Oops! The special built tank does NOT fit, then they rushed out to a local supplier and got a tank off the shelf, and the regular tank fits. My complains are: 1. They don't even bother to come and check the tank and claim the tank needs to be replaced, what if the fixed is simply replacing a valve? I understand that replacing the whole tank can make them more money. 2. They wasted 2 weeks and ordered a wrong tank. They could have avoid their stupid mistake by coming and checking the tank in person, and also, they could have saved me 2 weeks by simply checking the local supply store before making any special order. Of course they have no interests of the benefit of their customer. 3. They charged a lot for replacing an electrical water heater. So if you are looking for reasonable price, look somewhere else. I am not sure how much they charged me for a special built tank that doesn't fit, probably more than a regular one. 4. They are slow, probably because they are busy, but waiting for 2 days to place my order doesn't seem they care about their customer much. 5. They broke my refrigerator handle. I could have avoided hiring them if I read some of the bad reviews here before calling them, those reviewers had similar bad experience with Hohmann, I can confirm they are telling the truth.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I recently hired Hohmann to perform annual service on a boiler at a rental unit in Dorchester. The technician managed to completely break the boiler's pilot light assembly and then left the job incomplete. No attempt was made to contact myself or the tenant, and no attempt was made to repair the unit. This resulted in the tenant being without heat for a period of time in December. I then had to hire another plumber to fix the damage caused by the Hohmann team, as Hohmann customer service refused to send anyone out to fix their own mistake. TLDR: Hohmann is unprofessional and they will break your stuff - Do not hire.

We had no heat yesterday (Sunday), so I called our heating vendor (A. Hohmann) knowing that they're closed on Sundays. They had a tech at our house in less than two hours who quickly identified the problem, made a temporary fix, then came back this morning (Monday) with the needed replacement part. THAT's customer service! Thank you, Ryan, and Hohmann.

Prior to cooling season, I scheduled routine maintenance in May 2018, but the tech determined that the condensing unit had failed. Since I wasn't present for the maintenance, the tech promised that I would get a call about having the unit replaced. I never got a call even after many attempts to contact them. When I called the office, I was promised return calls. They also suggested that I should send an email, but those emails went unanswered, too. Four months later, I received my first invoice for the maintenance in May, but it was marked "over 120 days." Their office insisted that invoices had been emailed to me but then said that my email address was not on file. I was willing to pay the invoice once I had a chance to discuss my options for replacement, so I was promised again that someone would call. That was about two weeks ago and still nothing. I expected a quick response assuming the contractor must have been embarrassed by their service so far. I believe my "D" rating is fair. The price and quality were average, but responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism were dismal. They had a chance to sell a new HVAC system, so I cannot imagine why they let this opportunity pass especially since they were already doing work in my condo building.

We worked with A Hohmann and Co for several months over the course of the summer of 2018 after we bought a new home in Milton. We had multiple plumbing jobs completed with them (two bathroom toilets, sinks and faucets installed plus a kitchen faucet) and tried to apply for a loan through the Mass Save program for a boiler and hot water replacement. The first and primary issue is that no invoice they provided over 8 weeks of back and forth could pass the standards of the Mass Save program to replace our heating system and hot water heater - it was sent back for revisions by the program at least 5 times. The staff in the office barely read our emails and deflected every single question to Ed the owner who was extremely busy. When we changed HVAC contractors, the new invoice was accepted on the first submission. The plumbing side of the business was even worse. If you want plumbers who need 3 visits to install a bathroom sink or 4 hours to install a second bathroom sink while damaging your newly refinished tub...well these guys are for you! The son who runs the plumbing side of the business couldn't care less about complaints. They just send the invoice, tell you to pay $700 for a sink installation, and wish you luck. Look elsewhere.

Their tech came back on Dec 12. I called later that week for a follow up and was told the invoice would go out in a few days. I've called at least once a week since then, and been continually told that it was coming. Last week I was told that they couldn't find anything in the system and they would have to check with the tech and call me back. No callback. I called again today and was told that NO REPAIR WAS DONE because they apparently needed an electrician. It's January 12 - it's been a MONTH of phone calls. Supposedly the tech who did the work is going to call me back with more details. I highly doubt I'll hear from him. No one has ever called me back. Their front desk people are also rude and unhelpful. I'm disgusted. Hohmann used to be my go-to company, but I'm never using them again.

We removed the old dishwasher and the delivery people took it with them. All the plumber did was to install the new dishwasher. It took him 2.5 hours. $110+ per hour. They did not use any parts (everything was supplied by us).

We needed to replace our 60 year old boiler and water heater. The owner came out to look at our unit and spoke to my husband about what he thought the best course of action would be. We received many different quotes and his was the lowest. We were also told about a rebate for the water heater which I did not know about. I only knew about the mass save early rebate.
Since we have a 5 month old baby they were able to get it done while the weather was still warm (some companies have over a month wait time). Also, other companies would come out to give us a quote then never actually sent us the quote! I am still waiting on one from July!
Each time I called the office they were pleasant and always answered my questions.
I am very pleased with the service that was provided and would 100% recommend them.

Last year, the technition came out to review 3 HVAC units - two on the roof of a triple decker and one on the ground floor. I always try to use local companies because the triple decker condo architecture in Boston can be intimidating to some service contactors from the suburbs. Hohman knew what to expect and came prepared ( Tall Ladder). I did have loss a heat a few days later and it was the result of something the technition had noticed; he decided to clean this part, not replace it but it failed in less then 48 hours. They ordered the part and came back as soon as it was avalaible a day or two later at no extra cost to me. I plan to use Hohman for seasonal services and have already receeomnded them to a neighbor who shared very positive feedback for a plumming service they provided to him. My neighbor was so impressed by their professionalism that he switching his sesonal HVAC services to them too.

It went very great. They were very clear on how the job was going to go, punctual, they stuck to the time frame, they stuck to the quote and I would hire these guys in a minute if I had to again. The owner of the company followed up with me to make sure I was satisfied with the service. He gave me instructions on how to get rebates on the work that was done. Overall was just a great experience.

Good experience. The plumber who came was personable and pleasant. He was very careful to do a good job. He answered all my questions. He was late but gave me notice. He was also very neat and left everything in good shape.

Went well, Tech was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. He answered most of my questions. The real shocker came at the end when he gave me the bill. I knew it was going to be 140.00 for the service call, but I was not expecting to pay 75.00 for 1 1/2 lbs of Freon. I feel It was GROSSLY and UNFAIRLY overpriced. I would be afraid to use this company again.
