Custom Concepts, LLC has been providing building services since 2005 in the MetroWest Area. During that time we have developed a strong reputation for offering our clients and homeowners the very best in quality and service. Though our specialty is custom finish carpentry, we put the same amount of attention, care, and service into all our custom projects. We specialize in major home renovations including large additions and complete remodels of all kinds.
I've used Custom Concepts for a number of large jobs from bathroom remodeling to recently building a new garage. Isaac and his crew were always professional and easy to work with. The entire process went smooth. The quality of work was exceptional and timely. They kept a clean job site and were very considerate when working in our home. You could tell this group had experience based on recommendations they provided us that made the finish product look even better than we envisioned. I would highly recommend them and feel comfortable knowing we have found a reliable construction company to address any future needs.

Custom Concepts is a premier contractor run by its very high caliber founder Isaac Low. From start to finish Isaac was friendly and approachable, and he answered his phone every time. He helped formalize our kitchen remodel plans, gave us great vendors for granite, cabinets, etc., and had an excellent team of subs including electrical, plumbing, painting along with his direct contractor team. Project was delivered on time and on budget - would hire again in a second.

Isaac Low and his team at Custom Concepts exceeded our expectations! Prior to hiring Custom Concepts, we asked another local contractor to look at our planned 2nd story addition and remodel project. Fortunately, for us, he did not feel comfortable tackling what ended up being a very difficult job. It involved tearing off our roof and living room ceiling, adding a second floor to include a full atrium, master bedroom (with a balcony and walk-in closets), master bathroom, dressing room, laundry room, and office - all this while we still occupied the house. Moving out during construction was not an option and the complex scope of the work did not deter Isaac, who appeared very enthusiastic and up for the challenge when we proposed it to him. The Custom Concepts team are very reliable, skilled, friendly, professional, and always promptly returned our calls and texts. They are great with children (one of our sons has special needs and just adores Isaac, who kindly helped put him on the school bus several mornings) and pets (making sure the dog doesn't get out), which was important as my family shared the same space with them every day for several months. Not to mention, the finish carpentry is top notch and whenever we needed guidance and creative input on function or design, Isaac and his team always had a solution. All in all, we are very pleased with the work Custom Concepts did and it was a pleasure getting to know their personable, hardworking, and talented team. We will definitely be hiring Custom Concepts again for our next home improvement project.

Custom Concepts completed our large renovation. We had a small crawl space above our garage which is now a large bedroom / grand closet / big bathroom & upstairs laundry. We also had spray-in insulation and the roof of our entire house re-done. The project took 5 months but there was a lot to accomplish. Loved working with Isaac & Jeff & Mark & Johnny. They were all very talented. I would highly recommend them!!! Isaac responds to all requests and keeps you up to date. There are many moving parts (building / plumbing / electrician / HVAC / roofing) and he kept the project flowing.

The project was a great success, delivering close to the estimated cost and schedule, including tweaks and changes to the original plan along the way. The end result is a beautiful and functional basement that matches the quality of the rest of our home, and does not feel like a basement at all. Throughout the process, Isaac and team’s patience, flexibility, and reliability were unsurpassed. The team showed up every day on time, and even kindly asked if it was ok to work late when they wanted to. Every night we would review their progress and provide feedback, which Isaac would in turn use to stay aligned with our vision for the space. Some of the feedback was related to perceived inconsistencies with the plan, and some was asks for adds or changes as we saw the space come together. With either type of feedback, Isaac was fantastic at receiving our criticism and suggestions, and helping us get to where we wanted to be. We cannot say enough nice things about Isaac and Custom Concepts given their care factor and results. We are so happy with the results, and highly recommend them for your building and remodeling needs.

Our project was large and ambitious. Isaac Low and his Custom Concept team started the old deck demolition during the first week of October and finished the trim on the grill station just prior to Christmas after dealing with some in-project changes and some challenging weather. Upon removing all of the old decking material and railings from the deck and around our pool, they found that the framing under the deck needed to be replaced in places, which included additional cement columns to support the new floor joists. They also found that the original deck framing did not meet current code, which required that they add new hangers and to use galvanized nails on all of both old and new framed joints. The prior deck build did not use the proper fastening techniques and the CC team made sure that those techniques were fixed. The result was a very sturdy code-compliant deck frame. Aside from installing the new composite decking, the project also involved rebuilding a defective staircase, re-installing three cast iron gates and building a frame for and then installing composite lattice work under the deck. The CC team used a picture frame technique to install the new decking, which added a nice finished look to the new deck area. The new staircase is solid and perfectly sized for the space from our deck to a small patio area. The lattice work is firmly supported by the new framing that the team installed and it is smartly trimmed. The look of the renovated deck is impressive. All of the trim around the deck and on all of the railings around the pool was carefully thought out and installed. A high quality job all around. Lastly, we asked the CC team to build us a grill station that would compliment the new deck. They did a terrific job building a safe fireproof enclosure with cutouts for our new grills. Isaac also arranged for a stone company to build and install a beautiful stone counter top for the station. The result is an outstanding looking and very functional grill station that is a focal point on our new deck. Great Job!

Description of Work: We contacted Isaac Low from Custom Concepts to give us an information about damage from ice dams this past winter. We had a hard time finding someone available to perform the work after the damage mitigation and Isaac stepped right up to help. We didn't intend to use him for repairs beside he was busy and we didn't want to tie up his resources on a small job, just wanted an idea of what the repairs would cost. He insisted on performing the work and even stood by us with the back and forth from the insurance company. He could always be reached by phone or email and had the work done within a week. This is the second time Custom Concepts has done work in my home and the same care and attention to detail went into both projects.

Custom Concepts recently added an in-law apartment and a three season porch to our home, and from initial estimate to completed construction, we couldn't be happier. Isaac, Josh (the site foreman) and Mark all did superior work and we're thrilled with the result. We sought several estimates, and Isaac's was the most well organized and detailed of the lot; and if I remember correctly the lowest or very close. He and Josh kept us well informed through the process and also kept very close to budget. Except for a design feature (handicap entrance ramp) that we forgot at the beginning (and our choice of more expensive windows and doors) we were within a few percent of the original estimate. Additionally the project was completed right on schedule (actually a couple of days early!). Finally, the impact on our existing living space was kept to a minimum. This type of renovation is naturally invasive but they planned the work so that the periods of disruption were well prepared for and as brief as possible. Several times during construction we had questions or decisions to make about design aspects and in virtually every case the advice we got from Isaac and Josh turned out to be the right way to go. Isaac recommended urethane foam insulation and despite the higher cost relative to pink fiberglass it was absolutely the best choice. Our heating bill with the extra square footage is actually down - and the three season porch is usable with a small space heater until the outside temp is down to below 10 degrees. The finished project is beautiful. My mother-in-law loves the new place and it is meeting all her needs. Everyone who sees the apartment and porch remarks on the quality of workmanship. Bottom line: we would certainly recommend that anyone contemplating a large or small renovation project or addition give them a call for an estimate and consider them for the job.

We've wanted to do this addition for over a year and asked for quotes from 3 different contractors. Isaac and Custom Concepts landed right in the middle of our quotes. Plus, he had done 2 other projects for us (a deck and privacy fence) that turned out great so honestly they had a leg up on the competition. I told Isaac what we needed and he drew up a plan based on what we asked for. We met and he was upfront with the details of cost by breaking it all down. He was willing to tweak the floor plan based on what we needed (increasing closet space, etc) and was willing to try to reach my deadline! The plan was to start in early June 2013, but rainy weather slowed down that process. Once they were able to get going the rain continued regularly and to protect their work and our belongings they covered the work area in the largest blue tarp I've ever seen! Even though the rain slowed down the progress Isaac stayed in touch and kept me posted about what and when they'd be able to get work done. He never once disappeared!! He was always responsive to any of our concerns and even along the way if we wanted to add or change something he was willing to try and meet our request. The bulk of the project was done outside but during the final two weeks they needed to come through the house to attach everything. During this time the guys were clean. They always laid down tarp or plastic to protect my carpet. They boarded things up to keep my very curious children out of areas that were dangerous. It was honestly as clean as a construction project could be. Even the subcontractors that came in were professional and respectful of my space. In the end, I have two nice sized bedrooms over my garage with ample closet space, great natural light, and nice high ceilings. Our deadline was met, and Custom Concepts has another huge check plus in my book. In all the project took about 3 months to complete. It looks wonderful. The siding matches the rest of the house so you can't even tell it was an addition. I have nothing but positive feedback for my experience and would gladly work with them again and again!!

Both projects went great. We contracted with Isaac Low from Custom Concepts for the first project in February of 2012. When Isaac provided the estimate for the cost and timeline he was right on with both. The crew from Custom Concepts started the work on the thursday before the Super Bowl and by friday had all the demo completed and repaired some carpenter ant damage that we didn't know about. by the time the following week rolled around, the work picked right up and the area was ready for paint by the following Thursday. The one issue that we encountered during the work wasn't due to Custom Concepts, rather the big box store we used to order our flooring through. When we ordered the floor we were told it was in stock, then told it was special order and will take two weeks. Well a month later, when the flooring finally arrived, Isaac and Custom Concepts were able to complete the final step of the project. Despite the added time waiting on the floor, the work came out great and we are very happy with the results. Shortly after completing the project in the family room, we started the planning for the second floor remodel. This took a lot longer due to the larger scope of the work and the additional financing needed. The design phase went great, Isaac provided us with several options that ranged in price from $35,000-$95,000. Once we decided on a design, we had to work on the financing. This was the hardest part of the project. When the work finally started, Custom Concepts and Isaac were great. My family was under a very hard time limit as my wife was due with our second child and the due date was also the proposed completion date of the work. Isaac was able to take the most stressful period of the year and reduce that just a little with his management of the project. There were very few days when there was no work taking place. Isaac was able to schedule the work and keep the project progressing constantly. There was even a hurdle that was unforseen when the building inspector required the inclusion of hard wired smoke detectors throughout the entire house. This change could have pushed us back a few weeks but the electricians where there the next day pulling wires and installing smoke, carbon monoxide, and heat detectors in nearly every room of the house. This provides a little insight into how the sub contractors feel about working with Isaac Low and Custom Concepts, to make time on short notice to keep a project moving is telling on how he treats his employees. The project was complete on time and within 10% of the original estimate (the majority being the smoke detector addition.) I would have no reservations about contacting Isaac Low again in the future for any additional work we have planned on our home!
Description of Work: We were looking for a contractor to work on two projects at our house. The first project was to removed the old wood paneling and insulation from our family room and replace with all new materials. This included remounting a TV, running wires through the wall, and finding and sealing all gaps around windows and fireplace. The second project was more substantial, it included gutting a majority of the second floor, including a bathroom, and reframing the area to add a bedroom to the existing space and completely remodel the bathroom. The house is a cape with a dormer at the rear of the house, this led to an odd configuration on the second floor with a pass through room (used as a bedroom), and a poorly lit and insulated bedroom that was used as storage.

Custom Concepts were very good, very professional, and came out on time. We ran into several issues with the town inspectors and things like that and they were able to overcome all those in a quick manner. I have already recommended them to anybody that would listen to me who were in the process of doing work on their home. The owner of the company, Isaac Low, doesn't speak down to you, doesn't look at you as if you are an invalid on the process of doing work in the house. He speaks to you and lays things out in a simple manner, but not in a negative or condescending way. He gets back to you promptly with any questions or any issues that you may come across, and he is always willing to explains the choices that he makes and the decisions in the process as it is going along.

Overall, Isaac did an excellent job. He responded quickly to our initial call and was very personable and professional. Seemed to have a good sense of what work needed to be done to correct our drainage problem, and his suggestions were similar to those given by others who came to estimate the job, but his price was less than 1/2 others quoted. Promptly emailed me an estimate and was able to schedule the job within a few weeks. Unfortunately, one of his machines was in the shop, so the job was delayed a bit, but Isaac kept in touch about scheduling and we were in no rush, so this did not present a problem. He completed the job as described above and cleaned up nicely behind himself/his crew. Since then we have had several big rains with no water in basement nor standing behind house as it used to. Cost was exactly as he had estimated.
Description of Work: improved drainage of water along back of house: dug a trench and laid pipe to drain water from multiple downspouts over to the side of the yard where it could flow into our ditch, recovered trench and seeded it for grass next year, replaced window wells for two basement windows to prevent leakage into basement

After our first contractor was arrested, Custom Concepts came to the rescue. What a relief they were! They picked up right where our last contractor had left off. They quickly got up to speed on the project and started within just a few days after our initial meeting. They were punctual, professional, extremely clean (this is big thing to look for in a contractor), responsive to all of our requests, and even managed to make friends with our two suspicious dogs. We can't recommend them enough, in fact my wife is already asking me when we can have them back to remodel our bathroom.
Description of Work: Custom Concepts performed a complete remodel of our kitchen. This included: installing a porcelain tile floor, hanging cabinets, removing walls to create a more open floor plan, closing in a doorway we no longer use, installing our glass back-splash, putting in a new granite counter-top, updating our electrical, and installing all of our kitchen appliances,
Very heavy rains early this spring caused my basement to flood. I'm an engineer, and spent quite a bit of time (too much perhaps) researching various methods of waterproofing the basement. I requested quotes from multiple contractors, but didn't have the work done until months later. It is my belief that most contractors hiked their prices just after the storm, while Isaac gave me one price, and stuck to it months later (one neighbor paid $12,000 for a french drain system). Isaac was not lowest bidder, but I thought he offered the best value, and frankly, he seemed honest and professional. The first impressions turned out to be true. I got an excellent product at an excellent value. Isaac told me how long I'd have to wait before he could begin my job. He started when he said he would, and completed it on time. His crew was also courteous, hard-working, and professional. Isaac is knowledgable, professional, hard-working, and an honest man. I've asked him to bid my remodeling job.
Description of Work: I hired Isaac to install a perimeter drain in order to waterproof my basement. I asked him to also run the my gutter downspouts into the drainage system, he suggested an additional non-perforated path for the gutters, so it ended up being two systems that tie into each other at a the lowest point. The work involved digging around the perimeter of the house to the foundation base, carefully relocating existing hedges and other plantings to a place I designated in the back yard, sealing the foundation wall, mouting a drainage fabric to the wall, installing a filtered perforated pipe (embedded in a gravel layer then encased in fabric) at the base of the foundation, backfiling to some degree then installing a solid pipe around the perimeter into which the gutter downspouts are placed, then backfilling the entire thing. The drainage pipes were routed to perforated tanks installed in the back yard at a lower level than the house foundation; the tanks themselves are surrounded by gravel below ground.

I had seem some of Custom Concepts work before, so when my almost "nonagenarian" mother inlaw needed to stop going down cellar to do her laundry, and crawl out of her tub/shower unit before she had a fall, I thought of Isaac. Gram, ( "nonagenarian" mother inlaw ), is a very sharp lady, but very sensitive to dust and picky about details. In the past other contractors she had hired to do smaller projects had taken advantage of her, and so her trust level was pretty low. So now my creditablity, and Custum Concepts were both on trial. At the start of the job Isaac had presnted a very good proposal with options and how change orders , if needed, would be delt with. His terms were very reasonable, with a small deposit, and progress payments consistant with the work flow. Per agreement, rooms that were not part of this construction were sealed off to limit dust, and after the extra furniture was moved it was covered and sealed with plastic. Prior to the start of work building permits were pulled and certificate of insurance was provided. The work went quickly, (this was good as Gram had moved in with us), the process was about four weeks, which was one week ahead of schedule. Isaac had the demo completed and materials removed from the site right away. He discovered that a couple of walls were not insulated and recommended adding a couple of electrial outlets once things were cleared out. Very reasonable prices were given and approval was granted. We had four trades on site at different times, (electrical, plumbing, painters, and the carpenters), without problems. Isaac managed the job very well and kept us informed. The team recylced the molding and other materials where it was practical and within code. The building inspections were completed and passed on the first visit for the new work. The town's electrial inspector required that the outside main feed to the meter be replaced, which was outside of the scope of work, (this added less than $ 500 because the guys were still on site). As the project was almost done, and Gram was very pleased, she wanted to have two of the other rooms painted, with the trim and ceilings because the job was going so well and well within the original cost structure. This task was completed based upon the change order. At last the construction was done, and permits signed off. The house looked very good for a construction site, but the Custom Concepts' team wasn't done. They hired a cleaning crew to go through the site to wipe down the walls and cabinets, wash the floors, vaccuum the flors with a HEPA vac, and cleaned the windows. When Gram arrived back home, she was thrilled, and pleased with the clean enviroment, and the workmanship of the construction. She did discover some dust and debris down cellar that had fallen through the cracks when the plumber was doing his process, and a couple of edges that she wanted smoothed a little more. Isaac himself came right over to inspect and clean up the mess. Overall we were very pleased with the work that Custom Concepts performed on this job and would highly recommend them. I will also be using Custom Concepts on a couple of projects this winter at my own house.
Description of Work: I had a two bathrooms and bedroom renovated for my mother- in- law. Based upon my concept Isaac and his team of sub contractors moved walls on the first floor to facilitate a new stackable washer/dryer, and convert an original 1960's bath tub set up to a 4 foot wide walk in shower. At the same time we had him install and update the plumbing to the second floor and install a tub shower unit with vent. Custom Concepts had to move bedroom walls on the first and second floors, and cut in new doorways. He also had to update a some of the electrical services and insulate walls and ceilings that were discovered to be without insulation.

We needed to completely rebuild our home so that we could take care of an 88 year old father. We had special requirements which had to be met. Custom Concepts not only helped us to plan and design a home where we could all live together yet have our own space but they built it for us as well. The entire process from beginning to end with Custom Concepts was truely a great experience. We were kept informed every step of the way of all progress and of any issues that needed to be addressed. We found the workers to be highly-skilled professionals who pay close attention to every detail and their work is impeccable. We would rate Custom Concepts with an A+ and would not hesitate to use them again.
