It was a terrible experience
I hired a good moving company to get my furniture  out of that storage and brought to my home.

Certified check is payment method.

You have to pay with certified check before the service is done.
Response from Tobin & Sons Moving And Storage Inc
"(Member name removed) was given an estimate for household storage of $52.50 a month per vault/rack. The estimate (member name removed) received states on the cover letter that “All shipments being delivered out of storage will require payment via a certified check on the day of delivery. “ When (member name removed) came into storage on 4/15/15 and paid $508.80, this was for her move into storage portion only. This payment did not include the warehouse handling in or the first month’s storage because a definite rate would not be known until her items were vaulted and/or racked into the warehouse. (Member name removed) had 2 vaults and 1 rack (52.50/EA x 3) in Tobin storage totaling a monthly storage rate of $157.50. This remaining due balance plus the warehouse handling in charge was sent to her on a statement. This was sent to her once the move was completed, in storage and the final charges were audited. Statements go out at the start of each month. Her first mailed statement had the remaining balance due on her account of $237.50. May, June & July’s storage rate of $157.50 was added to this past due balance each month and only one payment of $105.00 was received during her time in storage. When (member name removed) called to exit storage she was given the total due amount before exit of $762.50. This price included her past due balance of $605.00 plus the warehouse handling out charge of $157.00. We apologize if (member name removed) felt the certified check was unfair but it is stated in our estimate document she received that a certified check is required when exiting storage and all monies due must be paid in full."

We used Tobin for a move in 2008 and had an excellent experience.  We moved again a year later and made the mistake of going with another local company who gave us a lower quote.  The quote was lower but this other moving company took 11 hours to do the work that it only took Tobin 5 hours to do and also damaged some of our possessions.  Moving again 2 years later, we went with Tobin, they were professional from start to finish- I have never seen a more efficient or hard working group (we had 3 guys and one truck).  We had a lot of stairs and were moving into a freshly painted home.  The Tobin crew got the job done under the quote price and most importantly, it was a stress free process for us. Also, every piece of our furniture (and our newly painted walls) were in perfect condition.  They really seemed to take pride in their work.

After agreeing to the packing and moving terms, I went to Tobin & Sons office to sign contract. I requested his assistant put the actual pick up and move date on the contract as I needed the date to be firm as I needed to schedule air flight the following day. Assistant was resistant to my request insisting it wasn't necessary to put a date in and that they would be there. I had to continue to argue with her that it was necessary to do a contract correctly and finally she scribbled in the date. Three men showed up to pack the items. Most of this went smoothly however some items not packed properly, or some not packed at all that ended up damaged. Once the moving van arrived in Florida, driver hired one person to do the moving of items into the second floor apartment. I was told there would be two to three men. Driver dropped wooden leg from furniture into the flat screen TV box; unpacked TV without unpacking the TV cord. Took box and TV cord away w/him. Glass items dragged and broken by man hired to help driver. Driver gave me a very hard time about reattaching glass door to a cabinet that original packers removed. Original packers told me "don't let them on the other end tell you it's not their job". "Tell them to put the glass door on as it was taken off by us". However, driver continued arguing about it with me till I finally said "I paid for the job, do the job or call the company yourself, I don't want to keep hearing it". Numerous items were missing including the TV cord. Several days later driver called and said he found the cord to the TV and several other items and that he would put it in the mail that day. He did not. After several days of waiting for the TV cord, etc., I learned he still had not put it in the mail. I called Tobin and Sons' and could not reach the owner who was happy to take my check in the first place. So I talked with his assistant who promised to track down driver and call me back. She did not. Four days later I called her and I got a run around. Two times this assistant did not give me a courtesy call back to let me know what was happening. I was told movers would likely be down to Florida within a week. It was 18 days when they finally appeared in Florida. As of this writing, I am still waiting for the TV cord so my 86 year old mother can watch her TV.

They were very responsive, I had had another mover cancel, and Tobin was able to get someone out for an estimate quickly. They didn’t try to overcharge me for me, due to the move being last minute. I was very happy with the service. The price was great.

Overall our experience with Tobin was OK, however for the premium price they charge, we felt we should have received better service, especially during the packing and initial move to storage phase. For packing and moving, they sent a crew whose manager did not seem very experienced. In fact, he said that though he was an experienced commercial mover, it was his first time managing a residential move. They took a long time to do the packing, and ended up taking a few hours longer than estimated. Because they took so long, I had to leave them unsupervised for the last hour or so to take care of another obligation, and they ended up leaving some items unpacked that we had to pack and move ourselves after they left. Partly my fault for leaving them unsupervised, I guess. The move from storage to our new home went much smoother (different crew). They arrived on time (a little earlier than scheduled actually) and worked very efficiently. We were pretty down on this company after the pack and initial move, but they partly redeemed themselves on the final move phase. For the premium price they charge however, I would probably choose another firm next time.
