The real estate agent took the orginal offer for me to buy a house (a short sale) on the North Shore and never contacted my agent again. My agent called and emailed the seller's agent from RE/Max, Betsey Lopez, about 90 times combined over a period of 3 months. She returned about TEN PERCENT of the correspondence, despite her originating some of it. On the rare times she did get back to us, it always started with,"I'm in LA, I am in Pennsylvania, I am in Boston, I am at yoga class, the semester just ended, I am in CT without access to a cell phone or email"......it was new story each time. It was absolutely incredible. As it was a short sale, we knew it was not going to go smoothly, but the lack of professionalism was astounding. On the occasions my agent and she would speak, she gave us hope each time, calling to say if I could close faster, the seller would go with my offer, told me to set up a home inspection which i did; she subsequently called to say to cancel it and that the banks were not in agreement on the selling price. She then called and said it is a go over the weekend and we are ready to move forward with the P&S and Home Inspection. Despite my better judgment I set up the home inspection at a cost of $475 on Monday morning for Wednesday. She was to meet me with the P&S for signing. My agent called and email her 5 times each saying we set up the home inspection as instructed and to please get back to us if we should cancel it. She did not respond until Friday, at which time she told us buyer from "18 months ago" came forward with documentation that gave them the right to purchase the property. They closed the following Monday. After speaking with other agents in the area familiar with the matter, I was told that I was lied to--the buyer had tried to close 3 times and that they were always in the picture--and for whatever reason she strung me along. Not only unprofessional, but unethical as well. Unfortunatley, nothing was in writing and I cannot pursue any her actions any further. She stated that she did not believe she was "not responsible for your buyer's cost" despite instructing me to do the home inspection and not telling us otherwise---and will not return any phone calls or emails. My agent even contacted the owner of RE/MAx Beverly (Terry Sullivan) on more than one occasion and he was not forthright with the truth either. DO NOT USE RE/Max Beverly or Betsey Lopez!!
