Rich did a fantastic job repairing the exterior and interior stairs. The stairs are in great shape now. Rich provided a detailed written estimate within a few days. A detailed estimate is hard to get lately. The job went very well. I highly recommend Rich if you need a carpenter.

Rich did a number of projects at our home. He fixed some closets, installed light fixtures and garbage disposals, installed curtains, and several other small jobs. He is very sincere and punctual and takes care of all the details. He is our go-to guy for handyman and carpentry work. I highly recommend him for these kind of works.

Rich was ingenious is figuring out how to make our ill-fitting front door more weatherproof without changing how it looked from inside or out. He replaced a screen door slider, cleaned our gutters, and then fixed a deck step for free. Great work and easy to work with!

After receiving several estimates from other companies, I hired Rich because he took the most time to examine my deck, particularly in regard to the types of wood used and how he would specifically approach the project - aspects that other companies glossed over. His thoughtfulness and expertise during the estimate process were present throughout the entire project. In addition, he was punctual, professional, and communicative from start to finish. He even took the time to show my three year old how his tools work and gave me some tips about how I could fix parts of my deck myself! The results of the project itself are fantastic. He rebuilt two flights of deck steps that had begun to rot, replaced a few rotting boards, and installed a new deck post. The work shows care and artistry. Rich also was thorough in his clean up of the debris. I would (and will) hire Rich again for any woodworking projects on my house. I highly recommend him.

I own two small condos that I rent to others and have been looking for a reliable repairman for over a year. Rich has surpassed my expectations. He is reliable, timely and able to tackle various types of repairs. I have already used him for multiple repairs and have scheduled time for more repairs later this year. Not only that but he is excellent at setting up time directly with my tenants and then updating me after each visit. His rate is fair and trustworthy. I plan to continue to use Rich and refer him whenever possible.

I own a coffee table that was handmade on a farm over 100 years ago. Unfortunately, one of the legs broke and I didn't have the skills or equipment to repair. I found Wood Is Good on Angie's list and gave it a shot, as I knew this was a not a typical job. Rich said that he actually liked this kind of work and I was impressed with the innovative thinking he brought to the repair. I get the sense the Rich takes a lot of pride in adding personal touches to his work. I thought his pricing was quite reasonable. While I hope I don't ever have to bring the table back for another repair, I would give him business in the future.

We hired Wood is Good to paint out new sunroom. Rich (owner of Wood is Good) came down to our house promptly, surveyed the new room and gave us a very competitive price and also started the work very promptly. We were trying to get a few things done all at the same time - getting the sunroom built, laying a hardwood floor down for the new room as well as painting the room. Each job was done by a different contractor. When there were some unexpected changes in the schedule of the other contractors, Rich was very accommodative in adjusting his schedule. As for the painting job itself, he did a fabulous job. Being a sunroom with 3 walls full of windows, there was a lot of painting around the edges of windows/doors. He has done a great job of doing all of that without any blemish. We could not be happier with the way the new sunroom turned out. We highly recommend Wood is Good for getting the job done on time and at a competitive price.

Rich responded promptly to my inquiry, showed up on time, and worked efficiently. Several small jobs were completed during three visits to my house. He always showed the kind of initiative and creative problem solving that denotes a good handyman. All of his work was professionally done, and his efficiency kept the cost to a very reasonable level. I will likely hire him again for other small projects.

Rich was great, he checked in with me at each step of the way when a decision needed to be made about the remodel. He was open to continual re-evaluation of the project at each step along the way. He was professional, polite, and paid attention to detail. The end result looks great! He also offered helpful advise on other kitchen & home updating I was doing myself, which was very much appreciated.

Rich is conscientious and thorough. It was a big job for a handyman, so it took longer than I expected from working with other contractors with a team. (He replaced wallboard, two doors, trim, and a laminate floor. He also painted, including the ceiling, which was a task I threw in. He also had to handle some minor electrical work, such as grounding a wire and replacing electric kickboard heaters.) But given that I'd decided that my inexperienced (and mostly inept) family would have to undertake these repairs when I couldn't get the adjuster to approve an estimate, I was thrilled and relieved that Rich did the work and did it well.

Rich came for a myriad of small projects that we had after purchasing a house. He was very polite and helpful and worked through the list in an organized way. He's very particular with his work and the result shows the pride that he takes in his work. He fixed some rotted trim work on the house and also fixed a deck that had some damage after a hot tub was removed. HE showed up when he said he would and put in a full day of work - even on an unseasonably cold day! I would definitely use him again.
