I had a favorite, inexpensive wall lamp that needed rewiring. It was an old model that isn"t made anymore and hence irreplaceable. I expected to leave it ( if they could fix it at all), but the store was having a quiet moment, so the owner started in right away. She
checked a few drawers in the middle of the store work area, and quickly selected the part that it needed. She explained everything she was doing, and in a few minutes the lamp worked again! She had a lovely dog who sauntered over to visit during this operation as well. Other staff were extremely nice and seemed to like working there. In addition to serious hardware store items, they had some fun household items as well. The cost was only $20.I was very pleased with the results. I recommend Winter"s Hardware and Plumbing Supplies.

Wanda runs an old-style hardware store. I like having a locally owned, owner run hardware store nearby.
I'm assuming Home Depot costs less, and I certainly go to the big box stores, but I try to go to Winter's first.
In addition to purchasing products--paint and paintbrushes recently--I've also had screening done, and know they do lamp repair.

I walked into the store, handed the lamp over, it was plugged in, diagnosis made and switching mechanism replaced. It was that quick, and I walked out of the shop lamp in hand. Great experience!

I had already tried to figure out how to rewire these lamps and discovered that typical American light sockets wouldn't fit into the shades. I got stumped, took them to a lamp repair place, and they got stumped, and referred me to Wanda. Wanda figured out how to use a candleabra socket to fit within the existing socket frame, so that we could keep the lamp shades in place exactly the way they were meant to be. Then we picked out the rest of the parts. I picked up the lamps two days later, and couldn't be happier with the results.

I took two antique stand up lamps to the store. One needed a new socket and the the other which has a center bulb and three smaller bulbs surrounding it did not work. They replaced, rewired one lamp and replaced the socket on the other and stated that the lamps were fixed. Once home the larger lamp caused a fuse shortage when turned on and smoke came from the socket. The light socket that was put into the other lamp took two to three pulls to get to work and the socket fell out. I took them both back. It was two more visits to the store because I was told they were "ready" when the work was not completed and the same problem existed. They also ordered a diffuser for me which did not fit properly. This after having requested the order on two of the three visits. Finally I just took my lamps home.

WINTERS HARDWARE IS THE BEST PLACE TO GO FOR GOOD ADVICE AND SERVICE. THEY FIXED MY LAMP IN ONE DAY. THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL OF THE WIRES AS THEY WERE DANGEROUS AND BEYOND REPAIR, BUT THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE.
