We were looking to remove the closet walls in the small room attached to our bedroom--Paul has an architecture background, and explained that it was designed as a dressing room when the house was built in 1941.
Our plan was to remove the close walls, put the shelf and rod back up, and live with it a bit before we decide whether to get California-Closet Style shelving put in.
As with most work we've had done in our house, it ran longer than we expected. From what I've seen, that is the nature of tearing things apart that have been in place for 70+ years. Didn't particularly surprise us when he found that part of the wall was installed in a way that was particularly difficult to remove.
When that happened, Paul communicated with us. Often and clearly. Phone and text.
He had to adjust his schedule due to the additional work required. At no time did he stop communicating, which was a true delight.
There are a lot of trades people that do marvelous work, but can't communicate; I'd rather have someone who does quality work and communicates.
A few other things:
1. Paul let us know what he hadn't done previously, and what he wasn't comfortable doing.
2. We trust Paul enough that we gave him a key
3. We are planning to have Paul do some painting mid-winter.
