I'm disappointed to have to write this, because it could have been prevented had David done the right thing back in March when this problem arose.  We hired David Carney Construction for snow removal at our home in Newton several years ago.  For most of the business the relationship was a good one: The driveway and walkways got plowed when needed, and we paid promptly when billed.  However, during one of the last snowstorms of the past winter, David's truck hit and damaged one of our garage doors while trying to clear some of the excess snow that had accumulated at the sides of the driveway over the course of earlier storms.  The impact pushed three of four panels out of the door, and while the driver was able to pop them back into place, the door was permanently dented in several places, and the brackets on the inside of the door were damaged as well.  The door was and is still operable, but the damage to the door panels is visible, and the damage to the brackets will eventually affect opening and closing the door as a whole.
We obtained an estimate for the repair from the company that installed the doors in 2008, and arranged to meet with Dave shortly thereafter.  In that meeting, Dave noted the damage, but upon seeing the estimate suggested that we file an insurance claim for the cost of repair.  Informed that the cost of repair (just over $1000.00) was equal to our deductible, and that a claim would essentially result in our having to pay for the damage, Dave's response was that our deductible is excessive.  When asked that he make a claim on his own insurance, David informed us that he had other damage to his truck to cover, and that the driver who hit our garage door was operating without a license, thus preventing him from making an insurance claim.  No other solution was offered.
Since March we have made repeated attempts to contact David via e-mail, text messages, and finally a registered letter - all in an effort to get him to make this right.  He has not responded to date, and so I'm forced to start bringing my complaints in a more public manner.  This is an irresponsible - if not outright dishonest - way to do business, and while I'm still hopeful that David Carney Construction will do the right thing eventually, other potential customers need to know how this company handles it when things go wrong.

David-showed up very close to time expected.
-did high quality and creative finished carpentry (baseboards and finish framing in my laundry room.)
-was honest about things that couldn't be done (we had wanted to insert a built-in wall cabinet and he ran into electrical wires that couldn't be moved w/o an electrician)
-charged an hourly rate. He was focused and accomplished the job in an appropriate amount of time.
