About us

Ken Cook has been installing residential roofs and ventilation systems for over 35 years. Cook's Roofing is certified by the Certain Teed Corporation to operate as a select shingle roofing company. This allows our company to extend material and labor guarantees for longer periods than the competition. Cook's has two crews and two lead roofers are certified Master Shingle Applicators. Our foreman has been employed by us for over 13 years. According to the building inspector's office, Cook's pulls more permits for roof construction in the town of Bellingham than any other contractor. In 1992 when many of the shingle manufactures were having trouble with their fiberglass shingles, the ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials) developed testing for shingles that showed many problems with roof shingles. It was right then and there that Ken Cook decided to install the best shingles available and have quality that people could depend on; CertainTeed is the best company for their materials and warranties. They have taught us every aspect of the roofing industry from proper installation techniques to knowledge of how to know the difference between shingles that are of a high product quality and mediocrity. Ken Cook has been a resident of Bellingham for over 50 years. He is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bellingham serving Christ and the community. He also serves on the finance committee of the same church. Ken is married; they have 2 daughters and 2 grandsons. Ken loves Jesus, (John 5:24) his family and roofing. Chuck came right out and gave me a quote on the spot and then a couple days later his crew came and made the repair. I am sure the job was very small compared to what they normally do so really appreciate them getting back to me, providing a fair quote, and doing quality work so fast. The roof was patched and I no longer have a leakage problem, I provided the wrong Shingles which were used unfortunately, and as a result the finished look is relatively poor, The company was very responsive and if they had the correct materials I'm sure the job would have been more than satisfactory. I need to remember it was a patch not a new roof. Try them, they came out between rain storms and fixed my leak.

Very pleased. I evaluated three companies, one a local, one very large, and Cooks a midsize independent. None were franchise/broker types. I selected Cooks based upon quality of products they would use. Cooks was middle on price quote. My situation was difficult because I was facing major surgery and needed the work done within four weeks before the end of September, a very busy time for roofers. Ken Cook the owner and his office manager Nancy were very accommodating and got the job done in time. It took one day for the roofing and a day the next week for the gutters. Cooks sent different crews (both Latino) for the two jobs and both were very efficient and neat. They were very experienced and knew exactly what they were doing.

Very well. The estimate was provided by the owner and included a check of our roof ventilation (important to avoid ice damming). It was very detailed and Ken quickly answered my only remaining question. The crew was on time and worked quickly, finishing the roof and cleaning up in less than 2 days. The gutters were installed the following week by a separate crew. The price was in the middle of the 3 bids we solicited. The low bidder would have probably done a good job also, but Cook's estimate was much more complete so we felt that we understood all of the materials and methods to be used.

We had a wonderful experience with Cook's Roofing Company. Mr. Cook was extremely helpful, honest and thorough in explaining all the different options available to us. He and his team were respectful and professional the entire time they were working. The crew arrived on time & at the end of each work day the crew cleaned up their supplies and roofing debris. The job was completed efficiently and on time. We would highly recommend Cook's Roofing.

He (Ken the owner) came out to estimate the work, he looked in the attic, let me know I had poor airflow, and could fix the situation, along with replacing the over 30 yr old roof, the crew came when they said they would. They were very professional, and did an excellent job, even the clean up afterward I was impressed with.

I went with Ken because of all the roofers I spoke to, he was the only one that wanted to address my concern about attic ventilation.  All of the other roofers just wanted to slap shingles up.  Ken, on the other hand, actually looked inside the attic and came up with a plan to get better ventilation in the attic.  With the winters we've been having, I wanted better ventilation to help mitigate any issues with ice dams.  His plan was to open up the soffit along the whole front and back sides of the house and put in a perforated material to allow much more ventilation than the small vents every 8 or so feet that I had.   Ken also had no problem pulling back the siding by the dormer windows and shed dormer because there was no flashing.  I even asked Ken if he could go overkill and use 12' of ice and water barrier from the bottom of the roof.  All of my concerns were addressed and I felt comfortable letting Ken's crew do the work.
I am pleased with the work done.  The roof/skylight was complete in one day, but everything else took a little longer than expected.  I had asked to have the siding by the dormers to be pulled back so that flashing could be put in place.  I had issues with leaking by the dormer windows because there was no flashing.  However, apparently my siding was a non-standard size and had to be special ordered.  This delayed the process for a bit.  Now the work is complete, and I'm happy everything turned out great!

The work crew arrived on time, got right to work on the job which took about 4 days to complete.  At all times they were very professional.  Each worker was as careful as he would be on his own property.


We particularly appreciated all debris taken away daily using their own truck.
