We believe in supporting the "Ma&Pa" vs. the "Big Box" retail. Walcott Appliances was recommended to us by a friend and we found they have great appliances and their price was competitive. I cannot reiterate enough that the showroom sales person and delivery folks were excellent. Walcott should be thrilled to have workers like the folks we dealt with who take pride in their work!!! However, the owner needs to take a closer look in his own customer service, the lack in his response and no follow-up courtesy calls to see how everything went. If and when we did place a call to them prior to delivery, no response calls whatsoever, no less, their plumber never even called or showed up leave us no desire to do future business with this retail store! We were very concerned as we just purchased a home with a very old washer and dryer that were of very little depth and stacked in closet. The newer appliances on the market are much deeper and we were worried they would not fit. We tried to call Sears and get help but our case was too complex and we needed a consultation. Walcott offered a free home visit, evaluated the situation and made recommendations. We were able to purchase Consumer Report rated appliances at a really decent price. Sure, they are a bit pricier than Sears but they offer personalized service, rebates, take the time to do research and really deliver. Items were installed within a few days of ordering and Brian organized everything including a plumber on site. Brian was incredibly nice and patient and really saved the day. This company has had poor ratings in the past and I actually inquired about this as really surprised me. I was told that they have a whole new team on staff and that negative staff members they had a while back had been replaced over the years. I urge you try this company out and give them a chance. Brian Sheehan is a gem.

It took repeated calls to them and their wood repair guy. He lost our number and didn?t bother to find it, then finally decided to pay our remodelers to fix it?but we still had to call in order to get the reimbursement check he had promised us. We won?t use Walcott again.

We have had two problems with no response. When the refrigerate was being delivered, they broke a wooden rail on our indoor staircase. The workers told us they would tell the boss and he didn't respond. The washer was malfunctioning and the service men said that it needed a new board. They replaced the board and it still malfunctions six months later. We have made attempts to tell the boss and he was unresponsive to our calls.

Last year, during the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the dishwasher failed. Walcott said it contracts out the service end of the business and the office could not give me a straight answer about when a repair person would be out to repair our dishwasher, purchased from Wolcott. It was a busy week before Thanksgiving, but no one showed up until the Friday after the holiday, and then with the wrong part. It was not the first time we were disappointed with service from this appliance store and we won't use this company again for sales or service. An appliance can be bought anywhere. You should be able to rely on the store you bought it from for service.

Ordering the stove & scheduling delivery was not a problem. Unfortunately, the outlet required rewiring so they took the stove back and asked me to schedule with their electrician and he would immediately arrive following the next delivery of the stove. I did this but on the scheduled day, no one came for an hour and a half after the stove was delivered. I called the store, and they said they had no record of the appointment. They gave me the electrician's phone number again and I woke him from a sound sleep but he came promptly and did an excellent job. We noticed that the stove was dented on the side but would not be seen. The front oven door was chipped on the side, and I had to buy appliance paint and do this myself. What we liked most about the company was that the appliance was available and they had a good showroom staff. What we liked least was that they need better quality control or more careful delivery of the product.

It went very badly. Numerous times they promised us a delivery date, then the machine wouldn't show up, they'd give us a new date, blame each other, screen our calls. The first salesman told me that they kept the machine in stock; the next one told me (after I paid for it) they do not stock the machine and had trouble getting it in. Then the first salesman explained that he meant they had the machine in stock in their Hartford, CT warehouse; then the second salesman said this is not true either. Throughout the whole process the two men I dealt with treated me like they couldn't care less whether I received the machine or not (they charged my credit card immediately!). Extremely unprofessional, and I have to say, dishonest. They were only mildly helpful once I had a consumer advocate associated with the attorney general's office call them.

The explanation of the various appliance options was very good and thorough at the time of sale. The refrigerator and dryer arrived on time, as promised. When bringing in the refrigerator, one of the stairway balusters was accidentally broken and its repair has not yet been arranged. The washing machine was delayed. I had to call several times to ask about the status of the delivery. The washing machine, once it arrived, is not operating properly. I've left messages and my calls are not returned. We chose Walcotts because of their fine reputation. However, we have been disappointed.

What I love most about this company is that their delivery times are great. They make you aware of all of the rebates that are going on to reduce your prices. It s a ma and pa type of place, too. You get more personalized care. I mean, I can actually call and talk to so and so. They also sell parts, too, so it's really convenient. It's nice to order parts through them, too. They are wonderful, and we will continue to support them.

As promised, we got a call from the delivery men Saturday morning saying they were on the way and would be at our house in a half hour. Sure enough they came and proceeded to remove the old fridge and then brought in the new one very carefully. They set it up, plugged it in and confirmed that it was working. They were very friendly and courteous. We didn't compare prices but took advantage of a no sales tax weekend and a mail in rebate. The price we paid was in the range Consumer Reports listed for that model. We bought a dishwasher from Walcott two years ago and had a good experience then too.

EXPERIENCE WAS POOR. THE WRONG OVEN WAS DELIVERED, AND THE STORE BLAMED THE DELIVERY MEN. I SAW THE PO, AND THE WRONG ONE WAS ORDERED. MANY PHONE CALLS TO CORRECT. ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT DO BUSINESS AGAIN WITH THIS STORE. TOO MANY OTHERS OFFER FREE DELIVERY.

OUR SALESMAN, BILL, WAS GREAT. HE HELPED US WITH WITHOUT BEING PUSHY, BUT DELIVERY WAS A PROBLEM. WE WERE INITIALLY PROMISED ''4PM - 6PM'', THEN ON THE DAY OF DELIVERY, WE TOLD IT WOULD BE 2PM, WHICH DIDN'T WORK FOR US. MANY PHONE CALLS LATER WE GOT DELIVERY TO AGREE THAT THEY WOULD CALL ABOUT 1/2 HOUR BEFORE ACTUAL DELIVERY HAPPENED. ONCE HERE, THEY DID A FINE JOB SETTING UP THE APPLIANCES.

I HAVE PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED SEVERAL MAJOR (REFRIGERATOR, WASHER, DRYER, ETC.) AND SMALL (AIR CONDITIONERS) APPLIANCES FROM THEM. THEY PROVIDE VERY GOOD ADVICE ON SELECTION OF APPLIANCES. WERE EVEN ABLE TO ORDER A MODEL FROM A MANUFACTURER THEY DON'T NORMALLY CARRY AT A VERY GOOD PRICE. WE SHOPPED AROUND AND FOUND THAT THEIR PRICES WERE VERY COMPETITIVE, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT THEY DO NOT CHARGE EXTRA FOR DELIVERY OR REMOVAL OF OLD APPLIANCES. (FOR APPLIANCES WE'D SELECTED, WALCOTT PRICES WERE LOWER THAN THOSE QUOTED BY SEVERAL OTHER COMPANIES.) THERE WERE A COUPLE OF MISTAKES IN OUR ORDER, BUT ONCE WE DISCOVERED THEM, THE PEOPLE AT WALCOTT CORRECTED THEM VERY EFFICIENTLY.
