Awesome! - we began working with Scott in 2017 with a very rough set of plans and many stops and starts on our end. Of course when we were finally ready to get started COVID hit but that wasn't an issue for Scott! Our project ran like a well oiled machine and we moved back in 1 month ahead of schedule. I was very impressed by how clean the job site was each night. We are thrilled with our end product and found Scott to be honest and reliable throughout the whole process.

Scott Sorensen is a true craftsman. The kitchen remodel is spectacular, way beyond what I had hoped for. He is a very courteous, trustworthy contractor and his crew were a pleasure to work with.

The home remodeling was superbly done and we love how the finished house came out. Even though ours was an addition to the existing house, the construction was vey well done and the new part of the house does not look like an addition (kudos to the architect as well!) Scott and his team were great to work with. They were very professional in their work. They paid a lot of attention to detail, which clearly showed in the end product. The cost of the project was largely within what Scott mentioned at the beginning of the project. The only problem that I can think of was that the project, for various reasons, was delayed a bit, which at the end of the day we didn't mind that much. I'd take a slight delay in the project to get a great quality construction, which is what we got.

After meeting with several prospective contractors, we hired Scott for a home renovation project that included removal of existing second story and replacement addition (3 bedrooms, bathroom, linen closet, and laundry). Part-way through the project we also decided to have Scott do a total kitchen renovation that included removal/opening of walls (for open concept kitchen/dining) and removal of an old chimney that went from basement to roofline. We called every one of Scott’s references who all spoke very highly of his work. His bid was also the lowest of three we received. Notably, the final project cost, after a few job changes we requested, still remained within a few thousand of the original estimate. We ultimately selected Scott not only because of his experience and reputation, but because of his patient, pleasant, and straightforward approach to the work. Scott was always honest with us. There were times when we made a request and Scott would give his opinion of the options, lay out costs and often recommended the lower cost choice, even if it meant our not adding on to his contract. The subcontractors were very good. Scott has a team with whom he has worked for many years. They were skilled and trustworthy; I never hesitated to leave the house while they were working and felt comfortable with them onsite at all times. We intend to continue working with several of the subcontractors as home repair/improvement needs arise. Other than a few minor delays scheduling a subcontractor, the work carried on as expected. The project did go on a few weeks longer than Scott projected, but that was primarily due to the adding of the kitchen project and difficulty finding a final appliance part. Any time we were not fully satisfied with a particular task, it was a very easy process to communicate with Scott and have work updated. No arguments, no debate. Scott’s told us many times, “I just want you to be happy at the end,” and his actions followed through on that statement. There was no aspect of the project that was too small for Scott to get just right. Even now, months after the final check has been paid, Scott is readily accessible for questions and project updates. We could not be happier with the quality of his work and highly recommend Scott to anyone considering home renovation.

Scott and his team were a pleasure to work with. Scott is very detail oriented and does beautiful finish work.He kept the project running on time and kept to what was our agreement stated in the contract. With that said he was also very accommodating to make any changes I asked for. Scott and his team arrived every day on time and left the work area clean and picked up. Scott took my 1948 knotty pine kitchen and put it into the new millennium.

S.E.Sorensen is the best contractor by far, that I have used in my 24 years of home improvement projects. I only wish I had found them earlier. Scott Sorensen was phenomenal. His prices were reasonable; he was always pleasant, and extremely trustworthy. I was under severe time constraints, due to insurance coverage to get the project completed. Scott’s team worked 7 days a week to ensure my deadline was met. The end product far exceeded my expectations! I would highly recommend S.E. Sorenson to anyone considering a home project.

We hired Scott for a second floor remodeling and addition, including the complete gutting and redesigning of the space according to our architect. The project involved the addition of two bathrooms, one master suite, and two other bedrooms. Scott won the bidding of our project over three other contractors, completed the job in approximately 16 weeks, which was four weeks over his estimate. The finished product was very satisfactory and we have thoroughly enjoyed the new space since. We definitely recommend Scott to anyone with similar projects in mind.
Scott won the bid primarily because of his low price and his references. It was quite surprising the variance we received among the four contractors in terms of pricing for the project. We spoke with many of Scott?s references (old and recent) and all spoke very highly of Scott, his subcontractors, and the quality of work performed. Their rave reviews are what ultimately sealed the deal.
Do note that Scott subcontracts out everything, from framing, to plastering, insulation, tiling, painting, plumbing, electrician, etc. Every job was subbed out to a different team, whom Scott has been working with for many years. This can be a good thing as it helped keep the overall price of the project down and since Scott has worked with everyone for so long, he knew and trusted their quality of work. The downside is, as he will repeatedly remind you, he is at the mercy of these subcontractors for their time and schedule. If the plaster team cannot show up for another two weeks because they are on a different project with another contractor, you will have to wait. This can cause a little bit of stress in terms of timing and the estimated duration of the project. Sometimes, as with our plasters, they will send a team whom Scott has never seen before, which may introduce an additional
variant to the project. For us, everything worked out beyond what we could expect, and the quality as far as we can see has been top notch.
You may also see Scott?s son Kyle helping out on the project, whom is a great young man with good work ethic and experience. The father-son team will typically do all the finishing work at the end. Scott is very good with having the homeowner come up with a final check-list, and amend the list as they go along when you find additional items to add. The flexibility was nice and important to have, as inevitably there are always more items you would want finished along the way.
Overall I would rate the experience an A. You can?t find a better price on a major project as the one we did and also get the same level of quality work. Scott really delivered with his teams. He was very patient and flexible throughout, and even helped out on some unrelated bits around the house. We cannot be happier.

Fantastic!  Working with Scott Sorensen and his crew was a pleasure from start-to-finish.  From the start of the project, he referred me to an architect who prepared detailed drawings and everything needed to obtain proper permitting with the town.  Scott's budget proposal and timeline were right on target which was key in my obtaining a construction loan.  His workmanship, design skills and attention to detail are outstanding.  The house looks amazing and everyone that walks in is impressed.
With regards to communication, Scott was always available to meet and discuss the project status or any questions I had.  During the course of the project I changed my mind on some design aspects (i.e. slider in kitchen, window placement, gas fireplace insert, etc) and he was very receptive to my requests.  We discussed the changes I wanted to make,  he informed me how much it would cost (which was very fair) and we moved forward without wasting time.  The job site was always clean and my neighbors privacy respected with regards to where trucks were parked which was challenging during a difficult winter. Not one neighbor complained, in fact I believe a few have already contacted him for projects as they were also impressed with his workmanship.
I've undergone major construction projects in the past on other homes with different contractors and there was always something that didn't go as planned.   Not this time!  The project went perfectly.  Scott is a true professional who takes pride in his work and ensures that all aspects of the job are to the customer's complete satisfaction.

Overall the project went smoothly but we had a few problems with the contractor. The contractor stated that he would haul away all of the debris and this didn't happen. wood from the old deck, scraps and other debris were left behind. We asked for one very small revision after payment because it didn't meet expectations and it
Response from S E Sorensen Building and Remodeling
"As the contractor I finished that deck project on a Friday, the home owners were very pleased with the new deck and I was paid in full and was never asked for any type of revision, we cleaned the site as we always do and loaded the dumpster with the trash and I called the waste company for a pick up for Monday, the dumpster was full (level with the top) but over the weekend the home owners decided to demo an old shed that they had and over filled the dumpster with it, when the driver came for the pick up he had to discard some of the shed so it would be legal for the roadway, as the contractor I never overload a dumpster, as the contractor I did not leave behind any trash I do not do this ask any of my many references, I completed this project in July why the review in December? one selfish review has no reflection on my other ones, just read them !. would I do work for the home owners again, No !"

Scott communicated to us in a timely fashion so that we could inform our tenants when the job was to begin and finish.  He showed up at the job every day and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of the day.  The job was completed to our satisfaction, on time and within the budget.  He has been a pleasure to work with and it's refreshing to have a contractor that you can trust.

Overall we are very pleased with the final product.  We very much enjoy our new addition.  Make sure you carefully review the contractors contract language because it conservatively specifies what he will do and almost everything else will result in additional cost.  He did make small adjustments, during the project, at our request and at no additional cost.  He tries to please the client as much as he can if limited in cost.
He was the low bid of three (substantially lower) and did stick to what he said he would do - this is a good thing.  Finish work could be a bit better, but he takes pride in his work, returned to make an adjustment after completing the project, is honest, and takes one job at a time.  You might want to clarify the project time line from start to finish, including contractor vacation days.

Scott and his team were very professional, they came and did the job and cleaned up after the workday was over.
This is a very old house with many more issues than anticipated, and I couldn't do everything that I wanted to, but overall I am pleased
with the result.

Scott Sorensen and his team are outstanding. Our expectations were high because we were referred through a mutual connection that we have worked with for the last seven years. We were not disappointed

Scott and his team accurately scoped the work, the time to complete, and checked back throughout the process to make sure that our expectations were met and the work product was what was envisioned. When looking at the price, time, and quality matrix this team knocked it out of the park on price and quality while reasonably meeting time schedules

We hired Scott to fix both interior and exterior issues in a fairly new home. He thought through the proposed solutions, using high quality yet cost effective materials. Scott is old school, harking back to the days when you could trust contractors and subcontractors in your home. They chose construction because they enjoyed and were good at it, not because they lacked other employment opportunities. They were trustworthy, respectful, and cleaned up the jobsite. There was no question as to their honesty. At the same time, Scott formalized our agreement and job scope in writing to ensure no surprises as the work progressed

If something was not Scott?s bailiwick, he would bring in subcontractors who were competitively priced, reliable, high quality, and accountable to Scott. Nothing is worse than getting in between a general and subcontractor. What a difference from our last project in which the contractor?s team was functionally illiterates at best

My husband and I were looking to remodel our third floor, which was basically a creepy attic with little space. We didn't know who to call, I am a firm believer in family companies so I decided to start paying attention to the neighborhood. I saw S.E. Sorensen signs out in yards all over Newton, and decided to ask some neighbors about the company. All of them recommended S.E. Sorensen and said that I should definitely give them a call. Right after I called, I received a call back and hung up the phone with set plans. This is great! I have lived in several different places in the past, which means that I have had to deal with several contracting companies. This is the first time that I have received prompt call-back and professional planning right away.  All I had to do was work with an architect to design a floor plan, and work with an interior designer to select the fixtures and sets that I wanted. The team took it from there ! The best part was that everyone on the team was friendly AND professional. It really felt like I was putting my money in the big-name professionalism that I trust, yet the friendliness and communication of a family-owned company that I look for. This is important because my husband and I would always be on-the-go, and we would always be coming home to the team either hard at work or the day's job nicely done. Not to mention that the team ALWAYS cleaned up after themselves, no matter what work was done (how messy, complicated, big..) we always came back to the area being clean and put-together. I also felt comfortable having my kids home because the team always respected boundaries of the work area and personal space: this is NOT something I could say for other contractors I have hired in the past. The team was always on time, which is important, and stayed until the job was done for the day. Punctuality is always key, and there was never a problem with schedule delays or tardiness: if anything was to happen, the team always contacted me ahead of time to notify me, which was great ! They really did a great job, they worked with me and my husband, and they were open to our suggestions. I liked how even though the team was doing their own thing while we sat back and watched, they were open to discussion and they kept open communication with us. Anything that we asked for, it was granted. There were some things my husband and I have chosen that were difficult projects, such as the modern double sinks in the bathroom; however, SE Sorensen & Co really did a great job to make the "impossible", possible. There are countless companies that just say no, and leave it at that. But the team really did a great job to try until they succeed, perseverance was their key, no matter how big the task, this is great because we were a little nervous at first at installing all these modern systems in such an old house. They even made the central air conditioning work like perfect, something that we thought might not be able to happen in our 200-year-old house. Not only did they make things just work, but they made everything look neat, clean and professional. Everything from the walls to the cocking on the showers and bathtub looked so nice. Once finished, it didn't look like a home project: our upstairs literally looked like it was from a magazine; our spa-like bathroom is heavenly. Every inch was carefully designed and crafted. They really took care of us, and made us feel like first-class customers. We felt like we were no.1 customers, they always took extra care to make us happy and fulfill our needs. If I could say only one thing about SE Sorensen is that they didn't stop until everything was done with perfection. PLEASE PLEASE don't hesitate to at least CALL this team, I guarantee you that once you do you will feel like you have called the right company. This is the only company you will need for remodeling, they will do everything themselves so you don't have to hire a ton of other companies and they will make sure that you feel comfortable and secure knowing your home and project is in the right hands. They made our attic look gorgeous, like it was meant to be. It looks even more beautiful than we imagined. The amount of professionalism is impeccable and I have no complaints towards this team. Everything is done to the most precise finish and finest materials. My husband and I are proud to say that our time and money is VERY VERY well spent !
