The sales process is "high pressure" in that they require both adults (if married) to be present for the sales presentation. And the price starts out ridiculously high and is greatly reduced by "lock in the price today" incentives/discounts. Ultimately, the product is top tier, and the price reflects it.

This is the fourth time that we have hired Rescom for replacement windows and doors. The first three times were for windows, which we absolutely love. (One review already written for those.) So when they called us again to come out and discuss our needs, we said yes. This time, we ordered three doors, and we absolutely love those, as well. The quality of all materials is excellent, and the craftsmanship of the installers is wonderful. They are prompt, professional, and they clean everything up very well. When they found something that caused a little delay in completion (the need for input from our alarm company), they didn't get thrown off by it; they were flexible. I like that the doors have extra security features that our old doors didn't have. I don't understand the people who give low ratings for them just because they don't like the phone calls -- this has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the items and is unfair to the company. I get exactly one call per year from Rescom, and if I say no, that's that. They make it clear on the phone that both spouses need to be there because it is a big decision. They have great samples that accurately show the qualities of the windows and doors -- if you don't like them later, that isn't Rescom's fault. Best of all, these are American-made -- that was important to us. We recommend them.

I always wondered what it takes to get contractors like rich people have.  You know, ones that worry about the small details, are always on time and work really quickly.  The answer is spend a lot of money.  These windows were pricey but the service was impeccable.  They brought a large contingent of workers and finished 14 windows in a few hours and cleaned up everything.  When I had an issue with a leak, they came back and checked it out for me (turns out that the leak was in the roof, not the window).  I probably overpaid for the windows, but the service was great.  Beware of their high pressure sales pitch.  Do all your research before making an appointment with them.

The salesman was nice, but very pushy.  The installation went well and the window are nice. The biggest issue has been a couple of years later.  They call repeatedly, about once a month.  They have and issue with their phone system so they call and hang up.  The first time they called and hung up and I called back, they apologized and they pitched me and I told them that I am not interested in their services.  They said they would take me off their list.  It was the same experience a month later and a month after that, when they promised to take me off the list.  A month after that they called me again.  I would highly recommend you do not have anything to do with them or you too might be harrassed repeatedly.

I was unhappy with my current front door because it was very drafty and obviously of poor quality. I came upon Rescom at an expo in Boston and signed up for a free estimate. They contacted me and scheduled an in-home estimate. The sales pitch was long but it was obvious they had a good product. It was expensive but I hoped it would be worth it and would solve my drafty door problem. At the end of the pitch there was an incentive to buy now so I decided to do so. Unfortunately their credit company declined me (I was a brand new homeowner and my shiny-new mortgage must have sent up a red flag). I decided to get the funding through my credit union and told the salesman I would contact them again. The only bad part about my Rescom experience was dealing with their office. It was very difficult to get in touch with the people I needed to speak to. I wanted to buy their door but they didn't seem to want to sell it to me. I was persistent and finally got the salesman back to place the order. Installation day was fantastic. Chuck Abbott arrived right on time and he and his helper, effectively removed my old door and installed my new one. My new door is gorgeous and I can't wait to see how it holds up in the winter. Although the ordering process was a bit complicated, I am still going to save my money and upgrade my sliding door in a few years.

This experience has been the worst imaginable. After getting duped by a very slick sales pitch by an unlicensed salesman, I contracted to have these windows installed. They are manufactured by Bristol and are pure garbage. First off, they leaked! Imagine, a triple pane window that leaks where the windows come together. I called them and they sent someone over to adjust and caulk them. The repairman informed me that they also need to be closed a certain way in order to seal correctly. This is very difficult to do, and usually takes several attempts to get it right. The leaks improved, but are still present. The inside of the window is cold to the touch, which tells me it is not providing a suitable barrier. They are still very loose in the frames. Also it was noticed that under certain lighting conditions, the windows have a dark tint, like looking through sunglasses. Aesthetically they are hideous. The ratio of window area to frame area is almost 1:1. Recently, one of the windows would not close properly at all. A repairman came out and replaced part of the frame. In all fairness I do have to say that the installers and repairman were very good.
Response from RESCOM EXTERIORS
"The members saw a working sample of the window that clearly showed the frame size and the Low-E tint. Our product specialist suggested two-lite sliders and she chose double hung. She called representative to say everything was okay, but said her husband was upset with the front windows. She claimed she and her husband had not spoken in three (3) days due to this. He is upset that there was nothing that could be done regarding the Low-E tint or frame size - though he spoke with our General Manager and said he understood. (All Energy Star Windows have Low-E and Bristol has Pittsburg Glass Solar Ban 60 - Top of the line Low-E!) The windows do in fact need to be shut "properly" due to the Quatro IV locking system. We do not understand the customer's complaint here. If there are drafts in any way, shape or form, we are more than happy to service the product. As a matter of fact, we have serviced the customer and they have signed our service request form indicating that the service had been completed to their satisfaction. I would also like to note that the customer stood us up for a scheduled service appointment on 10/21/2010 without calling to cancel/reschedule and did not offer an apology after the fact. The customer filed a complaint with the BBB (with whom we have an A+ rating), Case# 218084, Ref# 53-101496-218084-10-8100 and resolved the complaint in favor of Rescom. When the customer tried to dispute the credit charges with their credit card company the end result was also in Rescom' s favor and I would be happy to send the documentation. Rescom will be more than happy to have a Bristol factory representative visit them to inspect the product. Please let me know if the customer would like Rescom to send a factory representative, as well as our installation manager to inspect and resolve any performance issues. Rescom's stance has always been to satisfy our customers! Sincerely, Mike Smith-Treasurer"

Yes, this company's sales pitch is long and they do make a big discount offer that supposedly disappears if you don't agree to buy at the end of the pitch. But the salesman was very polite and answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. So if you call them for an estimate, do all your homework beforehand so that you will be prepared to make a deal. We contacted our state's Consumer Affairs department and read the reports on the company; the few complaints were minor and resolved, and we were satisfied that the company was OK. The installers were great! They were very concerned about keeping the frigid cold out while they worked and kept the window openings covered. They were prompt and very polite. They did a good job of cleaning up the house interior. They did leave some wood chips and screws out on the roof, but these have mostly washed away. When I called a month later to ask if the screen on one window could be fixed because it had a ripple in it, Rescom sent a worker out very quickly who cut a new screen and also fixed a minor ripple in another screen as well -- wonderful service! The windows are really beautiful, and we love them very much. They are so easy to clean, they have virtually invisible ultraviolet screening to protect the carpets, and they look so clean and modern. The glass areas are much larger than in our old windows, though the frames are the same size. We are very happy! No, I don't work for the company; I just love the windows and am glad that this was one home improvement project that went right from start to finish.

I called Rescom Exteriors to come out and give me an estimate to have some windows replaced. They were supposed to show up around 7:00, I was here at 6:30 just in case and by 7:20 I had to call them to see what happened. They stated that they would call back and they never did. I gave them two numbers that they could reach me on and I was never contacted and they never showed up. I would not use their services in the future.
