Walter was neat clean and efficient. He asked us what we wanted and provided us with information we weren’t aware of on terms of running new wires back to our electrical panel. I found him to be quite pleasant and personable.

everything went great very professional and fantastic work. they communicated with me very well as to what needed to be done and about the electrical codes. I had Scott one time who was very good and had Walter the next two visits and he was super as well. I also really thought it was great having somebody in the office to answer the phone instead of having to leave voice mails and waiting for returned calls... way to go Valerie.

Walter and his crew were there every day until each phase of the project was done. He advised and scheduled each part so we were always aware of what to expect. His invoices were clear and we always understood where we were financially. He allowed us to purchase materials, all the while making recommendations on where we could save $, but also where he didn't think we should skimp. He showed us so many ways to be efficient and all of his suggestions came with explanation and though initially I questioned some, I'm very glad I listened to all.

I can summarize my experience with Watts Control in two words: TOTAL RIPOFF! Before I explain the service Walter Hernandez provided and the cost, let me share my experience with two other licensed electricians?one before Watts, and one just a few days later. In a downstairs rental unit, Jeff and a co-worker grounded fourteen outlets in five rooms, installed four double 48? fluorescent ceiling lights plus three outlets for a combination basement workshop and storage room, running nearly two hundred feet of wire and adding two breakers to my service panel. They also installed three way switches on the second and third floor of the house to control lights from two different levels; installed a hallway ceiling light on the first floor; a wall light with a timer in an enclosed stairway; and they tied two outside lights to another new timer they installed. They spend approximately two-and-a-half days here and charged a total of $1,200 for labor and materials. Just after Mr. Hernandez, located about eight miles away in Ashland, was here to perform the following work?(add a circuit breaker to my tenant?s service panel and run along the joists about fifty feet of wire over to a new quad GFCI box he installed to be used to power the tenant?s new gas boiler)?I hired another licensed electrician to complete work I chose NOT to have Mr. Hernandez do. I?ll explain why in a moment. Joe, who had to travel 28 miles each way, along with a co-worker, did essentially the same work Mr. Hernandez did (breaker, 50 feet of wire, and a quad GFCI), except that it was for my service panel to power my new gas boiler. In addition, Joe also completed all the wiring for my boiler?s remote controller and pump, as well as the same wiring between the tenant?s gas boiler and its remote controller and pump. They also hard wired and attached to the ceiling two separate CO2 detectors, required by code. Joe and his assistant were here approximately three-and-a-half hours on a Friday evening. Total price, including labor and materials: $700. I found Watts Control on Angie?s List on Friday, January 24th (Jeff wasn?t available and it was a somewhat time-sensitive job), called and spoke with Walter Hernandez about work I wanted to be performed sometime the following Monday. After telling him about the two new boilers and the need to get at least the tenant?s boiler wiring done on Monday, he told me he could start the job late Monday morning and return to complete the work later on. I also told him that there could be plenty more work available if his price was fair; we?re in the process of building a new bathroom, breakfast nook, and laundry room. He said he?d get an estimate to me shortly, which he did. Reading it, however, it seemed like it was not for work related to me. Line items included: ?Decorative Receptacle is to be install or match existing? and ?Remove Existing Receptacle? I certainly didn?t need a ?decorative? receptacle for an unfinished basement, and, as I told him on the phone, there were no outlets where the boilers were being installed. So there was nothing to ?remove?. I contacted him and he sent me a revised copy?same price. It seemed high, even with a 20% ?discount?, but he said he?d done electrical work for boilers before so maybe there was more to it than I thought. Well, there was . . . . but there wasn?t. Not at his quoted price, as I found out later. Mr. Hernandez arrived late Monday morning in his fancy van. I showed him the work site in the basement, and about an hour-and-a-half later my doorbell rang. I came down to see that he had added a breaker to the tenant?s service panel, strung about fifty feet of wire to the joists, and installed the quad GFCI. I looked at the $440.80 quote?discounted 20% from the original $551.00 quote, and assumed . . . . incorrectly, that after he completed work at another job, he?d be back to do the same work for the second service panel and boiler?AS PART OF THE SAME QUOTE. He told me ?No, that would cost another $440.80.? Furthermore, he informed me that there was additional work that needed to be done to make the boiler or boilers operational and up to code: the wiring for both remote controllers and pumps, and the installation of the two CO2 detectors. So, not only would it have cost me $881.60 for the two breakers, about a hundred feet of wire and the two quad GFCIs, who knows how much extra Mr. Hernandez would have charged to wire the two remote controllers, two pumps, and install and wire the two CO2 detectors? I wasn?t about to find out. I felt totally ripped off being charged $440.80 for an hour-and-a-half work to install a circuit breaker, run some wire, and attach it to a box, so I called Mr. Hernandez a few days later to express my feelings. He asked what price would be fair for the work he did. We finally arrived at a figure of $300. With that, he said he would send me a $140 check if I would send him an email saying he had completed the work in the estimate. On January 30th I sent him an email that said: ?The addition of a breaker to the service panel, the running of some wire, and the installation of a GFCI was completed on January 27, 2014.? On February 6th, having not received the check, I sent him another email that said: ?It?s been a week since we spoke. When can I expect the $140 refund check?? About 45 minutes later I received this reply from him: ?Thank you for contacting us on regards to the discount check. The bank requires 3, 7 and up to 15 days for a check to clear. Expect a check within the next few days, or early next week.? On February 11th I sent him this email ?The check, written Monday Jan 26th [I meant the 27th] cleared my bank on Wed Jan 29th. So much for 3, 7, or 15 days. I hope to see a check today, as tomorrow is no longer ?early? this week.? A few minutes later he replied: ?I have to follow the rules of our Bank. Check was sent on Friday, I apologize, I have not control on what the Mail /post office does after that.? I received his hand-written check later that day in an enveloped that was postmarked Monday the 10th, not Friday the 7th or even Saturday the 8th. So much for the check being sent on Friday. So, that was my experience with Watts Control. Mr. Hernandez may refute much of this, but the facts don?t lie.
Response from Watts Control, Inc.
"Customer requests a dedicated GFCI receptacle for a Boiler. Mr. [member name removed[ First of all we are glad that the installation was properly done as required by the National Electrical Code and your satisfaction. With all due respect, I strongly disagree with your assessment and description of the electrical service call we provided. We have a system and procedures in place that work to alleviate any misunderstandings between WattsControl, Inc, and our customers. Our top priority is to ensure the satisfaction of our customers. There are other electricians who charge less than we do; we hope that you compared the quality of their work and materials to ours. If you did, you will notice a significant difference in our workmanship and the fact that we use only the highest quality electrical components and parts. For your information: * We are Licensed, (Master License) * We are Bonded and insured for two million dollars. * Our Technicians are employees not subcontractors and are covered by our Workers Compensation and liability insurance. This is a great benefit for homeowners because in the event that any of our employees are injured while working at your home, our insurance pays and your homeowner’s insurance is not at risk. * We mark and label our trucks clearly as required by the State of Massachusetts so that you and your neighbors know who is at your home. * We do background checks and CORI checks on all our employees so you and your family can feel safe when we’re working in your home. * We follow the National Electrical Code rules, state rules and local bylaws. As our system requires, we explained to you over the telephone how a heating system works and you insisted that you only needed a GFCI receptacle so the boiler could get plugged in. While I was at your home I saw the heating system and I explained to you again that it needed more work then just a GFCI receptacle and you replied that the heating contractor was going to do the rest. I also mentioned that a CO detector needed to be installed as required by the MA rules and you replied again that you or the heating contractor were going to do that. I gave you an estimate and explained it step by step including the pricing and you agreed and signed it. The installation was completed, everything was tested, and again I explained to you how the installation had been done. You signed the invoice and gave me a check for the work. You were happy with the service that you received. Three days later you called me wanting to get the entire boiler and C/O detector installed for FREE! I immediately reminded you of our original conversation when you first called, and our conversation while I was performing the installation. I again explained to you that installing a boiler and wiring a GFCI dedicated circuit were two different things and therefore required different pricing. I also said that I would be more than happy to do the boiler installation. You immediately became agitated and angry over the phone and said very offensive words to me. After you were done speaking I said to you that I was not comfortable going back to your house after what you have just said to me and that I would rather return some of the money, if it would make you satisfied and happy. I also mentioned that it would take approximately two weeks for you to receive a refund check, You seemed to calm down and for what I could tell, “happily agreed”. We sent you the refund check and the same day you cashed it, you posted this review on Angie’s List. I have no Idea what else we could have done for you, but if there is anything you can think of please don’t hesitate to call us and we will be glad to try help you. …Again."

Walter came to my house and with his ideas he found a way to put all my electronic fixtures (DVD, Video Game, Cable box and Home theater) hidden on a different room to avoid that busy look of wires and fixtures around my TV. Walter is very knowledgeable and helpful. He told what to buy and where to buy the best products. He was on time and prices we're great. I would highly recommend him and use him again as we need.

I found Watts Control after on the Nest thermostat's website to troubleshoot a problem with our new Nest thermostats that our HVAC company couldn't figure out.
Walter was prompt, explained what he was doing and why, and gave a cost-breakdown before starting the work. He worked quickly, kept everything neat and tidy, and was friendly and accommodating. I've already recommended him to several friends and will use him in the future.

Thank you to Walter of Watts Control for a excellent job in my room renovation. We recently hired Watts control to install some rope lightening, electrical outlets and a light and he did a great job. They were clean, on time and very professional in everything they did and we will recommend them to all our family and friends. Pricing was right on target for other estimates we received and we are very glad we chose them to do the work as he was recommended by our plumber.

He used many different forms and contracts in order to appear professional.  However, I noticed he added an extra digit to his final bill which increased the amount by several hundred dollars compared to his original estimate.  This was disconcerting considering that the final bill was completely identical to the estimate.  Additionally, I had to have my brother dig the ditch for the electrical line because the electrician insisted that he didn't do that kind of work.  An outlet on one of the light posts is without power, too.  He did supply me with tar to paint the bases of the light posts in order to keep them from rotting.
Response from Watts Control, Inc.
"Thank you for your feedback on the service work we performed at your home back in 2010, please know we try hard as a service team to provide the best possible service on every service call. Your comments and concerns are very important to us and we always work with a customer to make sure they are 100% satisfied. Typically only one contract is needed for a job but in certain cases as was yours several changes were made during the work being done at your home so change orders were required for price changes and signatures. At the time of service it was discussed with homeowner the cost efficiency and having us doing the digging for the electrical line and it was agreed that homeowner would have a family member do this task for no cost to them. In 2011 after a phone call from customer we promptly returned to their home for an outlet that was not working due to a roof leak in her wall at no charge and it was determined at this visit that the GFI on the outlet just needed to be reset which we showed customer how to do. We are happy that after this original contract you have continued you to use our services on many other occasions and value you as an outstanding customer. We have phoned you and left a message to call us regarding the light post plug not working and although your warranty was for 2 years on parts and labor we would be glad to come out to replace the plug for you at no charge."
