Poor quality work caused sewage leak in basement. Ryan Plumbing installed all new plumbing for a new 2nd bathroom in our house. 1 year after the project was complete the newly installed PVC pipe for the waste line fell out of an elbow joint and dumped waste into our basement. I called Jeff Ryan to repair it because I was hoping he would take ownership of his work. We talked about why it happened and he said that the overlap of the pipe within the elbow joint had only been half of what was needed (0.75 inch vs 1.5 inch). He apologized and did not charge for the repair. However, a couple of days later when I asked Jeff to pay for the $1,600 cleanup cost, he fabricated a new story about the problem being caused by a clog and not his quality of work.

Ryan was upright and honest as it was a big job to replace sump pump to the main line. We got free inspection and fortunately the company he recommended was able to give correct diagnosis and the problem was solved at no cost.

I needed a plumber to install a new hydrorail (regular shower head plus rod for handheld shower head) but my usual plumber refused to do it because it involved drilling a hole in the tile and he said I needed a separate carpenter. I found Ryan Plumbing and they said they installed hydrorails all the time and of course would do the drilling because that was part of the job. They were prompt, professional, and clearly knowledgeable about what they were doing. They also installed a new kitchen faucet that I had bought, and checked each of the water outlets in the condo. They replaced the gaskets on stops where needed, and the flappers on the toilets to stop occasional running. They checked but didn't replace other outlets that were perfectly fine, which I appreciated. Based on my experience with a couple of other plumbers in past years, I was especially impressed with the reasonable cost of labor, the responsiveness when making an appointment, and the professionalism throughout.

These guys were quite nice and pleasant to interact with, but unfortunately they were very careless and sloppy. We hired them to remove two old vanities and install new ones in two bathrooms, before and after we had some tile work done in these bathrooms. We had the following problems: 1) After they removed one of the vanities, they turned the water back on and left, not noticing (or checking) that a pipe in the floor of the bathroom was pouring water (maybe a gallon every ten minutes), which led to some water damage of our ceiling. 2) Later, when they tried to install one of the new vanities, they couldn’t figure out how to do it and the vanity salesman had to explain it to them over the phone. 3) After installing the new vanities, they did not fully caulk the pieces of the new vanities together, causing them to leak. They had to come back and redo this. 4) While removing one of the old vanities, they discovered a damaged pipe and replaced some of the damaged portion. It turned out that the whole pipe needed to be replaced; a carpenter who came to built a cover for the remaining pipe said he could not in good conscience do the work (given that the remaining pipe was cracked) and we had to replace the rest of the pipe (which turned out to be a very easy job, it just required another foot or so of new pipe). Surprisingly, this company has many positive reviews here on AL; given this, it is unclear why we had such a bad experience with them. However since they caused us many weeks of headaches and delays, it seems fair to describe our experience accurately and readers can use the information as they wish.
Response from Ryan Plumbing & Heating
"I would like to clear up a few of your problems. NO PLUMBER would leave a job with water leaking as you described. The valve in question was shut off for days and then leaked when nobody was home. In regards to the vanity we talked to the salesman to find out where the water and drain lines needed to be roughed not to help us install a vanity which we've done a million times. The caulking around the sink came out from using it before the caulking dried and even if it had not set correct it took 2 seconds to fix. We cut out out the cracked cast iron pipe and replaced it and the leak was fixed so I would love to know why your writing a negative review for this.nobody replaced any other section of pipe since we replaced all the cracked pipe. Thanks for taking the time to write a review just wish it was accurate."

It went very well - from the estimate to the installation they were responsive to my questions and concerns. On the day of the installation they arrived on time, took less time than they estimated for the installation, and after they were done the room looked like it had when they arrived - clean and orderly. The whole crew was nice and friendly.

These guys were fantastic. It was a team of three led by Jeff. They were on time and got everything done. We're very happy with the quality of the work. Our bathroom work in particular was made more complicated by the fact that our rough-in for the drain would not quite fit with the new vanity we got, but they were able to do some adjustments and make it work just fine. We also had them install the toilet because we redid the floor with new tile, so there was a height difference with the flange and it was too intimidating for us to DIY. No problems there, everything working great. And our outdoor spigots no longer leak all over the place! No complaints whatsoever, we will work with them again.

I have a water heater that I know is on its way out, and received a call at work from my wife saying that we did not have any hot water. After trying to call a few people who failed to get back to me, I reached out to Jeff and received a call back very quickly. He was driving past my house and offered to stop in quickly and see what the issue was. He was able to light the pilot and get the water heater going again, and then spent some time explaining my options to me over the phone. I thought his quote for a water heater replacement was very reasonable, and will likely be booking that job very soon. It was an incredibly pleasant interaction with fair pricing, so I highly recommend their services.

Our original 60 year-old toilet had become clogged with sediment and did not flush properly. Also, we wanted our kitchen faucet replaced. Jeff Ryan responded to my message and gave me advice on the least cost way to proceed, and on the best quality parts.  I purchased the toilet and faucet, and when they had arrived Jeff scheduled the installation within a week.  The Ryan crew was prompt and efficient, and completed the work and cleanup within a couple hours.  The toilet turned out to be faulty, and Jeff advised me how to work with Kohler to get a replacement.

Jeff was always responsive and friendly, and his rate was very acceptable. I will use his company in the future.

Very pleased to work with Jeff and his company for my plumbing project (new stackable laundry closet & hookups). He made an initial visit to my house and later drew up a written estimate that he emailed to me. I appreciated his responsiveness via email as we worked out the finer details about the job. He made a suggestion that I consider an emergency water turn-off system that I thought was a great optional recommendation, given that the washing machine would be on an upper floor.

We scheduled his work visit a couple weeks later as I had to complete several steps of the DIY work before the appointment. He arrived for the job in a timely manner along with two additional plumbers. All in all they did a great job over the course of about 3 hours. They went the extra mile to help make sure that my laundry closest project would be a success. They left the work area clean and everything is functioning well so far as anticipated.

We had experienced very loud pipe rattling near the water main at various intervals over several weeks. I called one plumbing company who came out, but had no idea how to fix the problem. They did, however, suggest we replace our water heater at a fairly steep price.
I then messaged Jeff Ryan from the List and he responded almost immediately. I explained what was going on and we scheduled a time for him to come out. Since the problem didn't happen all the time, I made a recording of what the pipes sounded like so Jeff could hear it. He arrived on time and was very personable. Jeff listened to the recording and wasn't quite sure what was going on. But, rather than scratch his head, shrug his shoulders and leave, he said he would check with the town to see if anything was happening that might cause the issue. Jeff then came back a second time and installed a water pressure gauge. He explained that he had talked to several other plumbers and the consensus was that it must have something to do with the water pressure. He asked that I monitor the gauge whenever the pipe rattling happened again, which it did and the pressure was very high.
Jeff then came back a third time to install the PRV, which went smoothly. Everything seems to be working fine, except for the water pressure in the kitchen is a little off. I messaged Jeff and he agreed to come out a fourth time to see what the problem could be with that. In all my years of home ownership, this is one of the rare times when I can genuinely say that we received outstanding customer service!

Jeff responded to my call in the morning after I had left a message the previous evening. He was at my house within two hours troubleshooting the leaky water tank.
One of the first things he did was see that the tank was still under warranty and he worked with his supplier to get me a replacement tank at no cost because of the warranty. That to me was so value add because I would assume that sort of detail would typically not be looked at.
Jeff made it out to the supplier to pick up the tank and had it back at my house in an hour. The new unit was installed, the old unit was removed, and the work area was kept very clean.
Excellent service from a very pleasant and communicative professional. All this wrapped by the immediate response time puts Ryan Plumbing at the top level of service in my book. Highly recommend for your needs.

Worked with S & W Tile in bathroom renovation. In a one-bathroom condo, timing was an issue and they were in and out in three days. Very professional, superb workmanship. Highly recommended!

Removed old baseboards and heating pipes and installed owners stored steam radiator in bedroom. This is a second floor apartment and the piping ran from the basement into a front bedroom upstairs. The old heavy cast iron radiator (at one time in the kitchen) was stored in the walk-in attic and had to be carried down one floor to the apartment, a job for two strong
men. An existing pipe in the bedroom was modified to fit the radiator and placement in the room.  Additional work done, not part of the original scope of work, included cleaning the steam boiler filler valve that was clogged and fixing the radiator pipe of the
downstairs apartment that was not working. This was done without any additional charge.   It took about three hours to complete the project.
