My first impression with the reservation rep Ian was great, he was responsive, answered my questions and we got the quote done. I felt he and I had estimated the amount of items to be moved, we booked 7 hours and asked for 3 people. Day of the move everything went downhill fast. Ocean Moving and Storage is the company that shows up and its responsible for the nightmare. I don't think they are at all the same company, I think Coach just farms out jobs. I was given a window of 8 to 10am for them to arrive. I called the company several times, but couldn't get a time. Finally got them on the phone, they were upset that they were sent to the wrong town (same address). Ok, whatever, they arrive at 11:30. Two men came into assess the job, one was the foreman, the other was an older gentleman who smelled so badly of alcohol I knew he had to be drunk. He complained constantly about everything. The foreman was surprised at the amount of stuff I had and complained about it. I don't know moving, it's not my business, but it sounded like there was a screw up with either their overall company (in Florida) or the dispatcher here, but I told them what I had. The whole day there was moaning about how it was a big job. I said that I had asked for 3 men and 7 hours, it felt like enough, but ok. Anyway, I called the company and let them know that drunk guy could stay but he was on their insurance if he got hurt or broke my stuff. He turned out to be a good worker, but again, complained constantly, about everything. Most of my stuff is on their truck and it's getting late (4:30, remember, they came at 11:30 for a 7 hour job). Foreman starts speaking loudly to me about how it's a bigger job that he though, obviously meaning I was trying to, I don't know, pull one over on him? He was loud, spoke in an angry manner, and is red in the face and visibly upset. I consider this yelling and being intimidating. I backed up a few steps to clear myself of him. His daughter (the third person for the job) tells me that my backing up was "a bit much". I said, I'm sorry, but my experience with angry men says get away from them. I walked away from the situation and called the company again. They call the dispatcher, the dispatcher also seems to think that I'm doing something funny here. (What is "funny" about just trying to move my house?!). Finally, they realize that they are only half way through the hours that I booked, and they have to provide another guy to get it out. Dispatcher was a real winner too, also angry and hostile. I wonder who the heck is paying them? Oh yea, ME! Anyway, the move in was a nightmare, the daughter's calling me a "female dog" over and over. The foreman is hostile, they bring in the wife (great!) to try to smooth things over, but I just wanted them to get OUT OF MY HOUSE. Nothing is where I wanted it to be and that's fine because I didn't need to be abused any longer. I did end up paying for an extra hour. Probably could have done it faster if they hadn't complained and made drama but really JUST GET OUT. PS, they left a sweatshirt in my house, it's going to Goodwill. I called the company the next day to describe the move and how I was going to write a terrible review on this list. She was horrified and said, oh, I'll let people know. It's been a week, so here is my review. TL/DR: Overall company seems ok, their local subcontractors SUCK.
