AA Tofani did a beautiful job converting our screened in porch into a 4 season room. They also built a new deck off the addition. I'm very happy with the results, everything came out to how I wanted it. Everyone was super nice and agreeable. There were a couple of hiccups in the end. We wanted to get two sliding barn doors added in, and when the doors finally arrived, they fit perfectly in the doorway. Great if you were to use regular doors on hinges. Ideally the doors should have been at least 2 inches wider to overlap the opening. Instead of getting new doors because they were special ordered, they made the door jam smaller. The other frustration was we were told we could save money by purchasing cheaper windows, doors, decking, flooring, etc. Instead of giving us options on those things, they ordered everything at the top of our budget without discussing price. If I was aware of the cost of certain materials before they were purchased, then I might have been able to save money by using a different product. Instead of helping us out and negotiating prices, they just wanted us to cut them checks that were discussed in the original quote, where as we were told there could be wiggle room on certain prices. All in all, beautiful work by John and Derek, but we shouldn't of been told we could get the quote lower in the beginning, and then max out the budget.

Last year (2013) we bought a 1880's house in Natick, MA which needed some serious rehabilitation done on the 2nd floor bathroom. The floor plan for the second floor was 2 bedrooms and 1 tiny bathroom that looked like it was retrofit into the house (i.e. pipes on the outside of the wall, cobbled together plumbing fixtures, etc.) We decided to combine the floor space from the old bathroom and one of the bedrooms to make a much larger bathroom with washer and dryer.
Before we signed anything they gave us a huge list of references (I believe 75 of them). I randomly picked 10 on the list and called them. Everyone was very happy with their experience and many of them were planning future projects with AA Tofani. That was enough for us.
The planning took a little longer than we would have liked, but it sometimes works that way. Once planning was complete they started right up. Having had a very bad experience with a previous contractor (went out of business halfway through our job) we were amazed at how professional they were. Chris was the point man for pre-construction and he was punctual and very helpful through the entire process. John was the contractor on site and did most of the construction with his assistant and supervised the subs. They consulted us when there were decisions to make and everything went smoothly. The only delays were because we had ordered a few things that took longer than anticipated, but that was not their fault as we decided to save some money and do a few things ourselves.
They gave us a 6 week construction schedule and they were faster than that. I am completely happy with them and would not hesitate to use them again for our future projects!

A.A. Tofani remodeled our kitchen. There were delays with the project commencement, but this was due to the death of the owner of the company. Once they began the work, it went extremely smoothly and quickly. Their main contractor, John, was phenomenal. He was great at problem solving and design. Some of the administrative components (the paperwork and such) and the responsiveness about these types of questions was more delayed. Again, I believe this to be caused by Angelo's death and they figuring out how to fill the gaps. The kitchen came out beautiful.

We used them because of a recommendation from a friend.  They were very reliable and did what they were supposed to do.  Nothing is falling apart.

Overall it went very well. Like any other construction project we ran into several problems along the way, but Angelo Tofani is an EXCELLENT problem solver and managed everything quite well. The project was a little behind on schedule but it was understandable. They delivered 4 to 6 weeks after promised date, but we had added a lot of work after our agreement was signed. The framers were excellent. The work progressed rapidly. Angelo was always reachable and willing to talk. I am most impressed with after-delivery service. Angelo stands behind his work. 9 months after handover of the project, we had a leak in the basement. I called Angelo at 8 AM. He showed up two hours later, tore the ceiling open, found the leak and fixed it by 2 PM. No charge. I was very impressed. Contractors like Angelo are tough to find these days.

We found Angelo Tofani by asking neighbors in the Pinefields section of Framingham where there are many Campanile ranch house who did their work and what there experience was with their contractor. Tofani name came up often. Tofani has experience with Campanile houses having built many additions and second stories to these 1200 sq. ft (approx) houses. He is a designer/builder and cost was saved on architect fees. His skilled co-worker, Chris Previte, worked with us on design of the structure and we were very happy to have his input. We were going to put on a second story but his suggestion of a 1st story addition was the right one and we are very happy with it. Angelo Tofani started a few days before Christmas and promised a 6 week delivery of the addition. The addition was completed exactly on time and on budget. He team does all the carpentry, tile, and finish work and his excellent subcontractors did the drywall, plumbing, icynene insulation and electric. We, of course, had additions to the work we contracted for and as ideas came up during construction and he was flexible and able to add these additions with no problem and at reasonable cost. Angelo and his competent co-worker, Chris, were able to draw up plans that included suggestions and additions that made the addition much more comfortable and enjoyable. He also is aware of costs and anything that could save money without sacrificing quality was suggested to us. He is aware of energy saving possibilities and made good suggestions in that area. We lived in the house during the addition and he make every effort to ensure that we were comfortable and basic services were not interrupted. Honest, hardworking, fast without sacrificing quality. We would have no hesitation in asking Angelo to do more work for us. All the permitting was completed in a timely manner. Our house is much more comfortable and the icynene insulation in the attic has saved us money on AC and heat and raised the comfort level. His suggestion, which we took, on an electric floor in the bath was a great idea, as was the addition of light tubes to bring in light to internal rooms. He saved us from jackhammering up the slab and about $10,000 by putting in a saniflow waste system in the master bath. His finish work is excellent and we cannot say enough about his quality contractors, Chris Lombardo and David Stucchi who should have an entry all their own. Clean up excellent, disruption to life minimal, timely paperwork, quality work, on time and on budget: we are very happy and would use him again.
