Concrete Concepts & Design

In May of 2020 this company installed a pool deck with stairs that attach to our home. The cost of the deck was an out $15,000. I have invoices to support the amount. After completion of the deck, there was an overflow cap that was partially installed, they were supposed to come finish it after the summer season. That never happened. The following March, 2021, I reached out to the company because I noticed flaking, spalling and ask about the cover. I was told that there was an issue with the sealant used, happened to other clients, needed to find out how to remedy. After asking about the fix throughout that summer, it now became a story that he noticed the concrete flashing as it was being poured. He stated that he contacted ******************************* and they said it should be fine no real issues. I reached out again in October 2021 and he now said that he would have to rip out the whole thing the following spring. And that ****************************** was going to cover the cost of the concrete. Spring of 2022, I was horrified to see the flaking, s falling, substantially worse and Cracks throughout the deck. Was put off again, needed to talk to concrete company. I subsequently reached out to that concrete company to confirm that they were on board, and I got a very angry message that I messed everything up and they would have to work hard to mend that relationship. To this day nothing has been fixed. It has been an emotionally and mentally exhausting situation. Do not use this company!

The project went well for the most part. After a year and a half later we’re still waiting for the job to be completed. The edging around the pool is below expectations. But the main issue is the cap for the sump pump drain located in the middle of the concrete that needs to be finished. At the time, the part was out of stock. It was in stock the very next week and he was supposed to come back and finish. 1-1/2 years later, consistently telling us he will be out to finish, still refuses to address his commitment. We’ve waited a long time to ensure we gave a small business the benefit of the doubt regarding every excuse he has given us. Recently he has said that the cap is poured and it’s ready to be done, scheduled a date and that date came and went, again. At this point, it is appropriate to convey to others our experience. It’s been one heartache after another dealing with this company.

It took longer than expected but the finish product is wonderful.

Tim is very easy to work with, knowledgeable, experienced, fair and a perfectionist. He arrived on time and went over all the paperwork with me. He and his crew worked very hard, sometimes late into the night, and did a great job creating a beautiful, large patio over 70 feet long. I now have a gorgeous backyard. Instead of bare spots where grass wouldn't grow, I have a perfect stamped concrete patio. Everything looks great! Overall, my experience with CC&D was positive. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again and I highly recommend them.

Concrete Concepts & Design was great to work with. Tim is very knowledgeable and customer focused. The project went smoothly and we were very happy with the end result. I wouldn't hesitate to use CC&D again and will recommend them whenever the opportunity presents itself. Thank you for helping us transform our backyard!

MEMBER UPDATE TO COMPANY RESPONSE: Company reply: Clearly this is not going to be resolved via this outlet. However I would like to point out a few details that he touched on. 1. The project was completed then the water issue was brought to our attention. MEMBER REPLY: This is a not the truth as I have text messages stating this fact before the job was complete, which proves you don’t know what he is saying is the truth or a lie. 2. The contracts payment schedule is the same for all projects. The only reason why he owed less than 25% was the retainer he paid to schedule his job, as most companies require as a show of good faith. MEMBER REPLY: This is a lie, as I have text messages. 3. My machine was there for most of the project due to a couple reasons. One is the amount of extra soil that needed to be removed, The gas line we lowered, I use that machine for grading and finally the distance from my office is over 1.5 hours away. MEMBER REPLY: He knew how much soil was on the site, he would not turn up for days and then would only turn up for a couple of hours. 4. He is confused on how soil differs from sand/dirt. Anything that retains moisture must be removed for a successful completion. All yards are different, hence the reason we allow a different amount of removal and replacement per project size. For him to assume the way we estimate project costs is ridiculous. Not to mention I never charged him for all the extra material and time. MEMBER REPLY: There was no extra material, he has no clue what he is talking about, and time was of his doing because he would not turn up. 5. He agreed to the drain, that is the most important detail. The area is in no way near any section where vehicles can drive on so there is no reason for him to worry about damage to any drain. In fact projects such as this typically call for surface drains and that is factual. MEMBER REPLY: I am not worried about the damage to the drain, I did not pay over $10,000 to have a drain, if I wanted a drain I would have done the job myself and saved myself over $5,000 6. Finally he has a lot of opinions and assumptions on my reasons, character,etc. None of which is close to accurate. My customer satisfaction is excellent for many reasons, one is my willingness to honor my work. We live in the harshest area for concrete work in the country. So we have certainly had to warranty some projects over the years. MEMBER REPLY: If he honored the work then he would have fixed the standing water issue. Customer satisfaction is always excellent until a customer has to call back the contractor and then they never return calls or turn up.

Tim is a meticulous craftsman! Our stamped concrete patio is amazing! We were very pleased with all aspects of construction. Tim runs a tight and professional crew. He is an excellent communicater...we had regular updates and knew when he was coming and how things were going. A pleasure to work with! Will have him back for new projects!

The flooring in my diner was cracked in spots and needed replacing. Tim came out to check out the job and give me and estimate. It was a very fair price. The old flooring was torn up and the surface was prepped and leveled. The epoxy coating was applied. The removal and application were both completed in a neat and timely fashion. Time was of the essence as every day I was closed was lost sales. The crew worked long hours to finish as quickly as possible. I am very happy with the result and would definitely use Concrete Concepts and Design again. Tim is actually coming out to see what he can do to repair the concrete deck around my pool. I highly recommend Tim and his crew.
