+ -1 moreUnfortunately our situation changed last minute and we werent able to do the remodel at this time. I would absolutely hire him if our circumstances change. There aren't too many people out there that have good work ethic and value their customers. Mike Blackwell will work hard for your business and keep you in the loop. He is straight forward and to the point and is there when he says he will be. If you need any work done give him a call you won't regret it.
Description of Work: I was looking for estimates on a pretty significant house remodel. He responded immediately and arrived on time. He got his guys in there extremely fast and got us the needed estimates in a timely manner. The breakdown of the scope of work was extremely detailed and easy to understand.

+ -1 moreIt couldn't have gone better. He showed up when he said he would, did a very neat job of it - cleaned up better than it was when he got there, and did a couple of extra things - like cleaning out the gutters when he was high up. He was absolutely terrific. Can't say enough about him.
Description of Work: Mike took all the windows out of an old barn and replaced them. He did an amazing job. He is great with old buildings - actually really cares what his work comes out like, does what he says when he says he's going to do it and prices out jobs correctly so that he's not coming back to you later, hat in hand, saying he's over budget. Really a great guy. Will continue to hire him whenever possible.

+ -1 moreThey gave me some wonderful ideas. He drew out a wonderful sketch. We discussed it in great length. Quite honestly I think, the gentleman told me that I have a champagne case with a beer budget. I don't think I am going to go with them. I am getting other quotes.

Description of Work: We hired Blackwell Building and Remodeling in March of 2012 after purchasing a foreclosed home with the intention to update it. After meeting Mike through a friend we set up a time to meet and look at our project together. From the beginning Mike was extremely professional and gave me a sense of comfort to go forward with our ideas. We decided to completely gut our home and move existing load bearing walls to create a more open space. Mike was able to manage this part of the project on his own and based on his initial work completed we decided to have him do the entire project. Blackwell Building installed/contracted new construction doors and windows, siding, counters, custom flooring, custom hearth, helped with lighting layouts, amazing finish work including custom built-ins, bathroom vanities, insulation, plus more.. I could go on, but the bottom line is Blackwell Building and Remodeling did a wonderful job and we couldn't be happier. We will definitely use him again and already recommend him to others that are doing/planning projects. If you are in Central Massachusetts and need a trustworthy, reliable contractor, call Blackwell Building and Remodeling!!

+ 0 moreMike does very good work. He cares about all the details of the project. I'm pretty picky about how things look - we were going for a modern clean look to match the rest of the home and Mike really made that he got it right - even replicating some trim when he couldn't find anything that quite matched. He also gave attention to the squareness of the rooms he was framing (especially in places like the bath where tiles wouldn't have to be cut oddly to fit), and made sure the ceilings were completely level when he found the joist heights were all over the place. When it came time for drywalling, he gave a good recommendation for guys he had work with in the past and they were also very good and reasonable. Good people work together. Finally, he shows up when he says he will and works hard every day We're very happy with all his work. Everyone who sees the new basement is amazed at how good it looks.
Description of Work: Complete 1200 sq ft basement renovation. Wall framing, ceiling height adjustments, replacing cut support beams (from the last owners work), new stairs, built-in bookcases, door hanging and molding.
