We bought a rundown 3 family house that had been illegally transformed into a 7-suite rooming house with individual kitchens and a combination of private and shared hallway bathrooms. It hadn't been occupied in over 2 years, and the place was a mess, inside and out. We had the plumbing covered with a master plumber, but to get the project started we needed a builder with a builder's license to sign the permit. We found Tom by a fluke, and he came down from Gardner with his crew and his adorable English Bulldog, Bubba. Tom reviewed the plans, assessed the situation and got to work reworking the structure to preserve what could be preserved and rebuild what couldn't. He and his crew worked quickly, efficiently and, with true care for the structure. On several occasions Tom discovered areas where the foundation was not sure, and made innovative suggestions for salvaging the integrity of the house without tearing things down or otherwise increasing the cost of the project. He worked with us to move interior staircases to increase useable floor plan, and he built porches and decks where those existing were literally falling apart. He repaired the roof, installed new windows and treated the project as carefully and conscientiously as if it were his own. We now search for projects that we can bring Tom in on, because we know the quality and craftsmanship we will receive will be the very best. There simply isn't a strong enough recommendation available for Wilder Construction. From large projects like renovations to small jobs, he is, bar none, the best available carpenter out there. And if you can get him, pick his brain--he knows everything!
