RESTORATION SERVICES
About us
At Restoration Services, we take a conservational approach to object restoration. This means repairing, strengthening and consolidating to make the object durable. It means understanding the medium-from porcelain to fine Japanese lacquer-and predicting the demands of usage and time. We use only the most light-stable pigments and hand-make all our paints with conservation standard acrylics and epoxies. We work with a range of artistic skills and with the most up-to-date technology to restore objects as close to the original appearance as a client wishes. We are also artists, and we bring this sensitivity to the art we work on. This is the province of restoration. We are aware of the age and the reverence of fine antiques, allowing us to go where the original artist went, and to recreate what has been lost or damaged. Combining conservation with sensitivity is the challenge and the delight of our work. It is the blending of science and art.
