Internet is good, reliable and fast, phone has more bells and whistles than I usually use, TV is fine. We have had very few service interruptions, and when there have been problems they were solved quickly and courteously

They came out to update our phone system to something they said is better. Fact is, the new digital system is great for them as there is less to maintain, but not great for us, since if our internet goes out, so does our phone service. During the hurricane last fall, we lost internet and thus our phones for a week. So they got a better deal on supporting less infrastructure, but our phone bill is still the same.
When they came out, the service people were on time, courteous and all. The people are good, the policies are questionable.

The phone service includes unlimited long distance, voice mail, and caller ID. It's been great. It's been really trouble-free. The speed is fine. Customer service has been good.

They are the only provider available. They charge too much. We have never been happy with them. When we first started with them it was just one thing after another. They came into our building and we sort of got stuck with them. They messed up the wires when we first moved in so we can't use another service. We don't have much good to say about them. They are too high priced but we are stuck. We avoid their customer service but we guess it is fine. We would never voluntarily use them but we are stuck with them unless we move.

.They are very good. The one real unique thing about RCN is that the DVR they provide is a real TiVo. which is nice because it offers a lot of features that the other DVR's don't provide. They did show up within their time window. I will continue to use them.

It works fine and we have been very satisfied for over 10 years. They have been good in allowing us to negotiate rates; as far as I can tell they don't engage in rate escalation like Comcast and other companies. I think the price is stable and competitive. We have had very few problems and when we do have them they fix them. We had one service tech that was very curt but generally they are fine. I will use them again in the future.

The transition from comcast to RCN was difficult, we had problems with different things, that could have stemmed from the router which we figured out was bad. They were not that much help either. It was really just the internet. Since then it's been okay though. It was just the initial process. Getting things established was tricky. It was a number of weeks we were trying to straighten things out at the beginning.

When I called RCN to report that the DVR box was not working properly, the technician suggested that I did not understand how to use it. When I persisted, he said he would reboot the system. When I called back a few days later to report that it still was not recording scheduled programs, the technician expressed skepticism. He said he would schedule a service call but if it turned out to be working I would be charged a fee. It was two weeks before they finally sent someone, and indeed it was broken and needed to be replaced, which was done free of charge. I then called in to request a refund of the DVR rental fee for the period during which it was not functioning. This was granted, but in the process I happened to note a mysterious extra charge on my monthly bill, for some premium television service that I never requested and was unaware of. The RCN representative agreed to remove this charge from future bills but refused to refund the previous 9 months of unauthorized charges. I complained to a supervisor, who seemed unapologetic about the unauthorized charges and refused to refund them, stating that it was my responsibility to check my bill each month to see if I am being overcharged.

Calls to Customer Service will fix the problem with the On-Demand most of the time. Twice in the past two years, whatever they do to "resend/test the cable signal" results in the cable going out completely. They then have have to send a technician to come out to replace the box/DVR which fixes the problem. But we all know what that entails..being home during the week, losing all shows stored on DVR, etc.

Appointment for technician's visit were given promptly. Technicians came to the house as scheduled. All the service people were knowledgeable and extremely helpful. On one occasion the supervisor accompanied the technician to the house to determine what the problem was and gave me his direct number to call if the problem comes back. Outstanding service. No charges. The telephone technical support used to be plagued with irritatingly long hold times, but recently it has greatly improved. Most of the technicians on the phone are also very helpful and quite knowledgeable.

I have called RCN several times because we were having problems with On-Demand programming. Each time I got the runaround from service agents, claiming it was a known problem with no solution. For $200/month, they need to find a solution. If it wasn't such a hassle, I'd try to change service providers. If Verizon's FIOS service gets good reviews, I may give that a try.

In the past month, they have: 1) Supplied us with faulty equipment; 2) Failed to show up for a scheduled service call, and gave us no notice or explanation for the no-show; 3) Routinely placed us on telephone hold for more than 20 - 25 minutes; 4) Failed to return telephone calls as promised; and now, 5) They are refusing to release our telephone number until November 16, fully a month after we tried to switch telephone companies. At every stage, RCN has failed us. Now they have us over a barrel, keeping us to their marginal telephone service against our will. Do not use this outfit! Run away from them, as fast as you can!

I CALLED AT ABOUT 2 PM AND THEY OFFERED TO HAVE SOMEONE THERE BEFORE 9 PM THAT DAY. THE REPAIRMAN ARRIVED ABOUT 45 MINUTES LATER, QUICKLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM, AND SOLVED IT WITH A NEW CABLE FROM THE STREET IN ABOUT 10 MINUTES. WHEN THE SAME REPAIRMAN WAS ACROSS THE STREET ON AN UNRELATED TRIP THE NEXT DAY, HE STOPPED BY TO MAKE SURE OUR INTERNET CONNECTION WAS STILL UP AND RUNNING. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WOULD BE THAT THEY SHOULD BE MORE CONSCIENTIOUS ABOUT TRACKING IN DIRT AND MUD (MAYBE WEAR BOOT COVERS.)

WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE CABLE. THEY WERE ON TIME. WE HAD A PROBLEM, WHICH WASN'T THEIR FAULT, BUT THEY DID FIX IT.
