They never did call back or come to see what the job entailed. Bob did call me eventually (2/20/15) to explain that he had a backlog of over 500 calls and that he could not get back to everyone. He said that he has asked Angie's List to pull his ad, since he cannot begin to meet the demand. He seemed sincere enough and I would put him on my list for evaluation of future work.
Description of Work: Nothing. I couldn't even get them to return my call. I realize this was an epic event, but I did expect a return call.

I was called back within an hour. They told me that they were well beyond their capacity and couldn't take any more work but called just to tell me that so I can continue my search. So far I have called 4 other vendors in the past 24 hours and nobody but Ranch Roofing has called me back. I greatly appreciated their prompt follow up and I would definitely call them again the next time I need work done on my roof.

We had water coming in the walls and dripping down into the first floor. We called Ranch Roofing first thing in the morning and though they said they'd be at the house by noon, they didn't show up until 2:30. Though it was a snow day for my husband who was home, it would have been good if they could have called to tell him that they were running late just so he knew when to expect them. My husband says that they really knew what they were doing and were able to remove the ice dam in about 45 minutes with 2 men up on the roof and 1 supervising from the ground. It was pretty impressive. The only reason I'm giving them a C for price is because I eventually found another provider on Angie's List who also had an A rating, is one town over, and charges almost half for the removal ($200).

I called this vendor on a very busy day for ice dam work. He called back promptly and politely and let me know that they were just at capacity. I REALLY appreciated the nice call back. I'll call this provider again. Hopefully not when the entire state of MA is calling him too

Located Ranch Roofing on Angie's List. Met with Ranch Customer Representative Don C. at my home to draw up a work proposal. He arrived with several samples of Owens Corning roof products; WeatherLock Flex for roof edges, Deck Defense for ice dam areas, drip edges, and 3 choices of roof shingles. The meeting lasted 2 hours. Although the information was initially overwhelming to digest, at the end I felt I had a degree in Chemistry! I was very impressed by the Owens Corning products. Satisfied that the materials Ranch offered would extend the life of the roof for years to come. It is obvious that roofing materials appear to have come a long way in the past decade or two! The initial job proposal was for half a roof to be replaced. Don suggested the Ranch Zero Financing Plan. We then decided to have the entire roof replaced. Even though we signed off on the plan and received bank approval to finance the project, we had saved some money in advance of the project and spread the payments out enough so there was no need to rely on financing, but it was a nice option to have the available financing as a cushion. A large crew arrived as scheduled. The company owner, Mr. Robert O'Sullivan himself also appeared at the job site. He introduced himself and walked me around the site, accompanied by the project manager, Francesco. We discussed and confirmed the job scope particulars. Mr. O'Sullivan was very attentive, polite and professional. I had been aware of past horror stories regarding family/friends experiences with roofing jobs. I expressed my concerns about ensuring the work requested was actually done. I expressed my opinion that trusting a roofing company was a leap of faith - once the job is complete, how many owners go up on a roof to check that the work was done? How many homeowners can actually see visual evidence indicating under shingle waterproofing/ice dam treatments were applied as stated? I also had concerns about applying a new roof in the month of December. Mr. O' Sullivan explained that cold weather was not an issue - just wet weather. He emphatically indicated that he would stop a job due to rain or snow, as a roof should not be installed in wet weather. He explained that the roof would "sit down" once the hot sun hit it in the spring. He emphatically stood by his roofing materials and trusted today's product technology. Another concern I expressed was the protection of several plants, shrubs, and trees surrounding the perimeter of the house. I was reassured that the crew would steer clear of damaging any property plants and trees. Mr. O'Sullivan immediately put me at ease concerning the job. He just had an honest and straightforward way about him. The crew "assaulted" the roof and completed most of the job within the first day. The only issue was the fact that a new composite porch rail and rail post cap were damaged during roof demolition. Mr. O'Sullivan appeared that evening to survey the damage. He phoned me twice to give me updates on scheduling repairs. After matching the damaged parts to available stock, 2 Ranch carpenters were sent out to make the appropriate repairs. Mr. O'Sullivan also sent out an employee to clean the rail areas as well. The damages were repaired within one week. What truly impressed me about Mr. O'Sullivan was his response when being made aware of the damages. He immediately apologized and took full responsibility. He was not defensive or deflective. I found his reaction refreshing. In today's world, assuming responsibility appears no longer very common - especially damages incurred by contractors during home improvement projects. I told Mr. O'Sullivan he was a throw-back to a different time! He indicated the customer was always right. This statement indeed confirmed to me as a homeowner, I was dealing with a reputable business owner who stood by his word and actions. After the December Northeaster which thankfully only brought rain to the area, I inspected the attic roof and found beads of condensation. I called Mr. O'Sullivan and he promptly came over to survey the roof. He again ensured me that the roof would seal itself in the spring once it "sits down." Another example of prompt attention to homeowner concerns. Some companies may be slow to respond since the job is done and they've been paid. Not Mr. O'Sullivan. He is concerned with customer satisfaction before and after the job is completed! It should also be noted that during the job, I asked Francesco to measure for a new chimney cap while he was on the roof. The cap was ordered and 2 weeks later, Mr. O'Sullivan sent a supervisor and crew to install the roof cap. He indicated to me that due to the damaged rail/cap, there would be no charge for the installation of the cap. Another indication of a fair and reputable business owner! I am VERY satisfied by my experience with Ranch Roofing. Since paying for a new roof is a large investment for a homeowner, the homeowner should feel that they trust the roofer and they are absolutely getting all the agreed materials. I believe that Ranch Roofing will provide what was agreed. This leaves the homeowner at ease over their new roof investment. The following are general comments and words of caution I can offer to another homeowner about the experience of new roof install. These comments are not meant to be perceived as negatives towards Ranch Roofing. * Locate several tarps, go up to the attic, and cover the floors, joists, and any items you have placed up there. The shingle demolition is extremely messy and it's nearly impossible to remove that mess from fiberglass floor insulation! I placed tarps over all items and filled 2 large plastic contractor bags full of debris! I shuddered to think of the debris I would have had if I had not covered the floor! * Prior to install, walk your property area and cover any plants and shrubs close to the house with plywood. Mr. O' Sullivan's crew was instructed to be aware of the shrubs before the work began. None were damaged. Although Ranch positioned a large disposal bin in the driveway and used tarps for roof shoots, it was amazing the amount of debris that came off the roof. Protecting plants and shrubs before-hand, or mentioning them to the roofers may help protect them. * Upon immediate completion of the job, walk the property, including the driveway and street area with an empty food can to locate errant roofing nails. Although Ranch used a magnetic sweeper during clean-up, which was mostly effective, I located 6 old nails (out of the hundreds removed from the roof during the job). Saves on potential car flat tires!
Description of Work: Stripped 2 to 3 layers of roof shingles on an approx.1600 sq. foot roof. Replaced rotted wood framing where appropriate. Installed critter cap on chimney.

Communication great from start to finish. For estimate or actual work they arrived on time or early. Everyone was pleasant and professional. Clean up was thorough. Estimate explained that if they had to put extra plywood on the roof it would cost more. My house is old and, alas, did need a lot of extra plywood. They showed me photos of the holes that needed patching and explained it to me on the spot. Even gave me a little bit of a financial break since there was so much that was needed. I highly recommend this company.

The project went very well. Because of the cost, I requested several estimates to do the work in phases (will be hiring again to do another part of the house next fall or sooner) and Don was very responsive answering questions and providing quotes for specific services. I gathered several quotes from local roofers and Ranch roofing was very competitive and offers excellent warranties backed by their relationship with Owens Corning. I found a cheaper contractor who is known for good work, but they did not want to do the rubber roof. I hired Ranch roofing becasue they were able to do it all at a very fair price. They arrived with a large crew and did all the work in one day, but days at that time of year are short and they did need to return to finish some carpentry work that they wanted to do right, where the rubber needs to be extended vertically behind the siding. I was not charged extra for this work, which was fantastic and a real testament to the company. They stripped 2 layers of existing asphalt and replaced with another asphalt roof and ice and water shield , installed 2 exhaust vents, 2 skylights (without requiring any interior finish mods), rubber roof, other asphalt areas and removed an old oil furnace flue. They sealed some gable end vents that were not needed and modified some soffit vents that were actually not doing anything at all. The goal for all of this was to eliminate ice dams and leaking that we have been experiencing for several years now. So far so good. Ranch roofing was able to offer these services as part of a 0% for 1 year program, which is awesome, so we can divide our payments over the course of the year and it cost us absoluteley zero to do this. As with any of these programs, you have to make sure you pay off in full before the promtional period ends or the finance charges are absurd. Bob, the owner, was excellent, was on site and it was clear that his number one objective was to make sure that the project went well, that we were happy and that we were not nickel and dimed (which we were not). Ranch roofing went above and beyond my expectations and I will be using them for sure for the next phase. I would also recommend them without any reservations to anyone looking for quality roof work at a fair price.

All the details. It went awesome. The entire Ranch Roofing team was perfect and professional. They arrived on time, communicated ahead of time over email, phone and text and performed the service efficiently in one day. I received quotes from multiple vendors recommended and found on Angie's List, and I am happy that we ended up staying local with Ranch Roofing. The new skylights are working fabulously, and we've had no issues.

My experience with Ranch Roofing was great all around! They came out quickly for the estimate when I called and went over everything in great detail. I asked for a number of options to consider and they provided them, no question asked. When it came time to do the job, I sent in my deposit and they got me scheduled within a couple weeks. The morning of the installation they arrived with a huge crew and got the entire job done in about 5 hours! The roof looks great and the skylights work perfectly! I will be calling them back to do the other side of the roof in the spring. These guys are the type of contractors I expect when I find someone on Angies list!

Ranch Roofing came out to wash my roof and the result is "night and day." The crew was right on time, friendly, professional, and efficient. I was surprised to see the amount of algae and moss that was removed, not to mention that they also cleaned the gutters during the process. When they were finished, they rinsed my walkways, stairs, and foundation of any remaining debris. I highly recommend their services and wouldn't hesistate to use them again.

After some delay, apparently due to busy season, proposed the lowest price. The project was scheduled within a reasonable time. The crew stared early on a hot summer day and finished before end of the afternoon. All contracted work fulfilled, including appropriate protection of bushes, quality craftsmanship, thorough clean-up, and no add on charges. Looks great, a value...resulted in a 'happy camper'.

The roofer came to our house and listened to my concerns about a possible leak in our roof. He appeared to do a thorough job, going up on the roof, checking the flashing, waterproofing, gutters, downspouts, etc. He said everything looked good and concluded that the issue was due to an ice dam issue. He discussed a few options to help with the ice dam issue but did not try to sell a new roof or push repairs. While on the roof, he even our gutters out a little bit for us! He stated several times that his company does not usually do roof repairs like this and gave me another name to call. I felt reassured by him that the roof was in good shape despite the ice dam issue, so I really appreciate that this company was able to come out and provide this free consultation without pressure to pursue costly repairs. When we need a new roof, we will likely use this company!

This was by far the best home renovation experience I have ever had. I give them A+ in all areas. For one, they were responsive to phone calls, which if you do any projects on your home, you know that people getting back is a big problem. Don came out and gave us very detailed information about what he thought it would entail. He was the only one to want to look at places inside the house that would give him more info on the state of the roof. They take their time answering questions and working with your needs and budget. Their quote came in the middle ish of the quotes we got, but there were no surprises and no extra costs, which can make their way into other projects. They arrived on time, were focused and efficient. They communicated with us throughout the job. Dave, who ran our roofing, was outstanding. The roof was finished in exactly the time frame they said. Their clean up was phenomenal. Nothing left on our property. It looks great and everything happened as promised. As with many people I'm sure, this felt like a big expense and a leap of faith in that I know nothing about a roof. But, I had a feeling when I met them, that they operate an excellent business. I found them on Angie's List and found similar reviews, which was partly why I went with them as well. So now I want to pay it back and say that those reviews are accurate and well deserved. I wish all my home renovations were this smooth.

I requested an estimate for a new roof with attention to an area that is prone to ice dams , a portion of my gutter replaced and replace missing siding on one of my dormers. The person on the phone was polite and set up my appointment. The estimator showed up for the appointment over an hour late without calling to notify me. We went over the work I needed done. We set up a second appointment to go over the estimate. Again, he shows up late without calling knowing I had to leave for work by a certain time. He had no estimate with him and starts looking at the roof again. I get an e-mail with an incomplete quote which only included the roof replacement. I e-mail the person pointing out that the quote did not include the gutter replacement nor the siding replacement. I also mentioned that the quote was one of highest I've gotten. Apparently I struck a nerve because the return e-mail was very defensive and condescending. He never bothered to send a new estimate with all the work I needed. I guess having a top rating on Angie's list has gone to his head.

Hi [member name removed], Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and also for considering us when looking for a roofing contractor. I truly apologize to you for the lack of communication with you, regarding the estimator running late for his appointments. While it is certainly not an excuse, but the estimator you had the appointments with has been going through some personal problems and is taking some time off to deal with these issues. We are with our estimators to try and make sure an incident like this is prevented in the future. If you still would like a quote, we would be happy to provide you with one that covers everything you would like estimated. Thank you, Bob O'Sullivan Owner 800 771-3939

Based on the excellent reviews in Angie's list and the impression we had meeting owner Bob, we selected RanchRoofing to do our roof renovation job. They did the main job in only 2 days, even though it is a very big roof, and then came out several times to complete the roof edge. RanchRoofing is one of those few companies who have the right mindset with respect to customer satisfaction. They are honest, highly knowledgeable, have the right attention for the detail, highly professional and responsive. You are in very good hands, also after the job is done. We had a major job to be done, with many difficult problems to be solved, and this company did not stop until the last issue was solved. Special thanks to Aram!

Friendly, helpful in sorting out the above. Did clean, professional work and the company owner was personally engaged. You will probably have to initiate most of the communication to get status of ordered materials, confirm prices, and confirm appointment....but they are responsive and pleasant. I was very pleased with the quality of their work.
Description of Work: We needed to have a skylight replaced due to storm damage. While the skylight was only about 7 years old it was no longer in stock and a custom replacement had to be ordered. Our exact shingles were also no longer available and so a close alternative had to be found. It was a small overhang space so the roofing portion was a small part of the job.
