Overall, our experience was horrendous. The owner of the company, Robert (Bob) DiBiase, was a pathological liar, unprofessional in his dealings with us and underhanded. He applied for a building permit with our town in an amount less than half the cost of the project contract price (to save himself money), opened up our roof to build the second story addition and didn't seal the structure for nearly two months (resulting in major water damage to our existing home) and refused to rectify said damage. Furthermore, over the course of the project, two of his employees brought to our attention several structural deficiencies in the project (one example: he purposely neglected to place a cement footing under a load-bearing wall, even though he had included such a footing in the plans he submitted to the town building inspector's office). His employees also told us that he didn't provide them with enough materials to work at even a slow to reasonable pace and that Bob (the owner of PMI) was purposely ignoring our phone calls because we were 'getting on his nerves.' Apparently trying to discuss the lack of progress on our home and the puddles all over our first floor equated to 'getting on his nerves.' After eight months and his inability to pass the town's structural inspection we terminated our relationship with him, only to have a mechanics lien slapped on our home (which he did under false pretense). Following his termination he created and back-dated invoices that we never saw nor agreed upon and trumped up bills for items which we never received. We had paid him without question for months, only to stop payment during the last month of the contract because we realized that we were never going to have a house to live in under his stewardship. We were forced to hire a structural engineer and new contractors to fix all of his blunders. In addition to the nearly $80,000 we paid PMI Construction, we had to pay an add'l $45,000 to fix his mistakes before we could begin to finish our project for an additional $160,000. Finally, it was revealed in the aftermath of firing him that several of his employees were smoking marijuana at the project site and one individual stole items from a storage shed on our property. To quote one employee, "The only thing that was happening at your house on consistent basis was pot smoking and playing football." All in all, it was a nightmare of an experience.
Description of Work: The services that were required at our property were as follows: -add a second story addition to part of an existing ranch house -remodel the existing kitchen and bath on the first floor -replace some of the windows of the existing house -work with the town building dept throughout project (permits, inspections, etc)
