The quality of the work was excellent. The team from JLS was very friendly and easy to work with. Someone came by every day to check on the work and to see if I had any problems or question The work site was cleaned up every night. My overall experience with JLS was excellent and I would recommend them.

John and his workers did an excellent job on snow removal at our home this year - and what a year it was! Prompt removal, and coming during the night if timing called for it. We'll definitely use them again next year.

They were able to fit the work in prior to the first snow. The work was done promptly and quickly. Some areas had not been done for some time.

I contacted four landscapers through Angie's List. Two never responded; one got back to me but couldn't do the work for weeks. John's responded quickly, popped by to survey the job (without me even knowing!) and was able to schedule it within the week. Two men came by and worked for three or four hours on the bed. It was too tough for a tiller, so in the end they used an industrial aerator to loosen the dirt/roots, then raked it out. They did a great job, were very careful of the surrounding garden decorations, and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. The job came in right on estimate, despite it being harder than they thought.

It went very well. The small wall was not initially part of the plans, but they were very quick at getting us an estimate. With the addition of the wall, it cost more than we had expected, but the slope of the yard made the wall necessary to have a level patio, so the additional cost was more than worth it. The workers were very meticulous and did a terrific job. I would recommend John's to a friend or neighbor.

They did a good job. My property has some extended areas, and they missed one. When I called to let them know, they sent a team out and took care of it right away.

I signed up half way thru the winter. They responded well and very timely. I thought their prices were high. I was particularly annoyed that they came out to plow when just a 1/2 inch of snow fell. I did not see any other snow plows on the streets that day. They charge minimum $125 for this. I think they do not need to come out when 2 inches or less of snow has fallen. The cost below is for several events.

Work was done promptly and seemed to go well. We then had hard rais that washed away the seed before it took. Am waiting to see how this will be hadled to remediate in the spring. Jury is still out.

I contacted John's Landscape Services Inc because I was having trouble keeping anything alive in the front of my house and needed a design for the backyard. The design service was $500, which is deducted from the cost of the installation (if you decide to use them). I think this is very reasonable. The designer and I were able to communicate through email and finalize the design. We completed the design at the end of the summer 2014, but I could not get my act together in time to install in the fall and by the time I did, they told me that there were some plants, but they did not like the size of them, so we decided to wait until the spring. I appreciated that. In the spring of 2015 we started the conversation to complete the install of just the front of the house design. The design uses a lot of boulders and succulents, since the front of my house is exposed to full sun all day long. The crew arrived early in the morning and started working right away and were complete by the time I came home from work. The end result was wonderful. I did have a few concerns (which were addressed), which is why I did not give As across the board: 1) Part of the design included 2 existing hibiscus plants that I have had for 10 years, I was told that they did not make it through the winter (which is understandable, since we had such a crazy winter). A Rose of Sharon was used to replace the 2 hibiscus plants, my disappointment arises from not being warned ahead of time that this happened. I think it would have been nice to receive a call to let me know. 2) I did not receive any communication that the job was complete. I emailed them to ask if all the work was complete. A quick call would have been nice, a simple courtesy. 3) Within the week of the install, a bunch of grass started to come up through the rocks. This was disappointing, since I had paid so much and the grass came up so soon afterwards. I would have understood if it came up a few weeks later. This was addressed with a complementary weeding, in fact the weeding even included weeding my planters. The planters were not part of the design. That was unexpected and very nice of them to do. One of the plants that they planted did die, but they promptly replaced it. Overall, it was a good experience.

I contacted John's and received a quote via email from Toni, and felt the price was reasonable. While they have a year-round maintenance package (which would translate to a discount), I opted for a la carte services. They came out and raked out the shrub beds, dethatched the lawn, and picked up most of the bits of trash that were around the yard. Unfortunately, the de-thatching machine tore up some of the grass, down to the soil (it was admittedly thin coverage), and they missed some bits of trash (plastic grocery bags hanging in the shrubs), but overall it was well done. They sent a rep out to look at the mulching job to be done, and the job was done fine. There were some spots where there were weeds poking out through the mulch, but, overall, pretty good. I hired them to do weekly lawn mowing, and they've been out twice, and the grass looks good, though I do wish that they'd grab the bits of trash that accumulate in the yard. All-in-all, a solid lawn care company, and I'm happy to have them. The approximate cost of service above reflects the spring cleanup and mulch; the lawn mowing is done weekly for $45.

This project could not have gone better, and it could not have been handled more professionally. This required absolutely backbreaking work on the part of John's team. Richie and his crew did an amazing job rebuilding our patio (it look beautiful - thank you!) and the team that scraped, cleared, re-graded and re-sodded the yard was professional, efficient and wonderful to work with. John and his managers are a hands-on group. I happened to be working from home part of one of the days that the team was on-site. John or one of his leads stopped by the house 3-4 times during the day to check on the progress of the job, guide the team and make sure we were still on schedule. John also checked in every day or so on email, which is much appreciated. He has even checked in after the job was completed with quick tips on managing new sod through this hot dry weather we've had. We have worked with John on 4-5 different projects and he and the team have done incredible work each time. His crews are managed well, are very professional, and treat your home/yard with respect (many companies in this space do not). If you're looking for exceptional work done at a fair price by an honest business owner, I would highly recommend John's Landscaping.

We have had our fair share of bad contractors and handymen around our home, and decided to join Angie's List for that reason. We found John's Landscaping Service on here, and had them come out to give us a quote on our Fall Cleanup this year along with 2 other companies. John's Landscaping Service came in well below the other quotes, and we took a chance on this after reading the good reviews as we thought the price was too good to be true! Turns out they did a great job, and price included 2 trips to come out and clean up the leaves and such. Very professional, stuck to their quote, and responded quickly. Again, great price and value as opposed to the other quotes. Go with these guys.

Overall, everything went pretty good. We had to continue to stay on them with the work. In the end we were very pleased with the results. We had some trees die, due to the harsh winter, but they did replace them.

John's Landscaping Service replied right back to me when I left a message looking for a quote on service. They said they would send someone out the next day to look at my yard and then prepare a quote. The quote came back at $750, which included two clean-ups, one in early Nov. and one later in Nov. The price was more than I was used to paying, but because I have a fairly large yard with dozens of trees surrounding it, I knew it would be a big effort. I needed to have the work done, so I went with it. I wish that I was able to talk to someone when they came out to look at the yard and give a quote. First of all, I happened to come home when the first clean-up was being performed, and there was a section of my property that wasn't cleaned up. I had to explain to the team where my property lines were because the property lines aren't necessarily symmetrical. This could have been avoided if I met someone when they came by to make an estimate. Second, both times the team performed the clean-up, they left a 4-5 ft strip of undisturbed leaves that runs along the border of my neighbor's driveway (so about 15-20 feet). My neighbor has already cleaned his yard, so now there's a whole patch of stuff that has to be cleaned. It's right on the property line, but 1) now it looks ridiculous, 2) I'm probably going to have to clean up the rest of it, and 3) if there was a question about where the property line was, or if they should go right to the driveway, why didn't someone ask? When I mow the lawn in the summer, I don't leave a patch unmowed. Ultimately, the service was fine, but I'm not sure if I will use John's Landscaping again due to price and some of these minor inconveniences.

The work was timeline and extremely well done. John's was extremely professional and we absolutely love our garden!

The Angie's List Profile for this contractor states the service are is the "Entire Area" however this is obviously false advertising because when I solicited a proposal for a seasonal lawn care services contract, the response I got was, "We do not provide maintenance services in Dorchester."

John was great to work with. they first quoted me more for doing additional work and then we pared it down to the essentials based on my budget. John was easy to communicate with about my needs. He has a manager of some kind, Toni who keeps you in the loop and is a contact point while John is out on jobs. The work done was very good and they were very available especially given the high demand time of late summer. I was very happy to come home and see how nice the yard looked. They aren't inexpensive but you get what you pay for. I'd use John again for sure.

As a property manager making the call to John's was one of the best decisions I have made...landscaping used to be a challenge. Now it's a call to John's...when residents take the time to stop and tell me how beautiful our property looks...to me there is not a better feeling. ..his staff does all the work and I get the benefit and praise of all the residents.

After removal of a swiming pool, we were left with a gravel patch covered with weeds. John graded out the pool area and the adjacent lawn to correct a steep bank. New loam was added to the entire yard, and raked out very well. This was followed by Hydro-Seeding. John's men were very pleasant and helpful. I would hire them again.
