CONCEPT ONE REMODELING INC

I would never do business with this vendor again.  He overpriced the costs of the Master Bathroom based on plumbing work he wound up not needing to do.  Despite verbal assurance that he wouldn't charge for the work if it wasn't required he refused to lower the price when he realized the work wasn't required.  The crew on the job all quit while the project was underway - Bill was pulling people of the street to finish the work.  I have had to spend thousands of dollars to repair the shoddy work he did in the first place.

We signed the contract in Oct 2005, work did not start until March 06. Despite their estimate of a 3-4 month job it remains unfinished as of Oct 2006. Staff turnover was 100% during our job, communication between employees non-existent. They never came when they stated & didn't show up frequently (days at a time). Incapable of measuring or installing cabinets & charged us for custom cabinets, but ordered standard sizes. 6 months into our 4-month job, we warned them that we would not give them access to the house while we were gone on a 2-week vacation (given staff turnover, we didn't know how many people had a key). They threatened to start collection proceedings with us because we were holding up work by not allowing them access! So after forcing us to pay their last large payment before it was due, they now have not shown up to finish the job for over 6 weeks. We have started legal proceedings & have contacted the Attorney General to file a formal complaint.

It started out great, they had the bathroom almost totally demoed in 2 days, then they didn't show up for 3 days. They would show up for a couple of hours on intermittent days and it seemed like it was going in slow mode. The job started on 07/26/06 and finished on 09/09/06. I paid them to install all the fixtures and everything I had purchased,tub, toilet, vanity, top medicine cab, floor tile, shower tile, sink and tub fixtures. We went on vacation for a week, on our first day we got a phone call from the tile installer saying he found a "stress" crack in the tub. They had to order another tub; it took over a week to get it. When the job was done and we went to use the shower, it leaked. They had to send a plumber to fix it; it seems they forgot to put Teflon tape on the threads of the tub spout.

Concept One Remodeling, Inc. is a totally unreliable company that gives the bad name to home remodeling. We signed the contract October 2005 with an estimated start date of January. With no communication about delays, they did not start until February 2, 2006. It is now June 12, and they have still not finished. Their staff is constantly changing and for the most part perform average work at best. (e.g., It took one person 5 workdays to paint five interior windows and blamed it on the amount of prep work because of the condition of the windows. These windows are new Pella windows that were installed last November.) Workers are not provided with any direction. We had workers show up and were not sure if they were at the right house or what they were supposed to be doing. Concept One management is very difficult to work with and constantly make promises that are never kept. Buyer beware ... Stay away from Concept One Remodeling, Inc.

Per sales person job was to be done in 2 weeks. It took 5 weeks and 3 days. Job was to start on the 17th of April, but they could not start due to shortage of workers so they decided to start the floor tile job first. This was started on 20th of April which was Thurs. On Fri. The 21st, I received a call they could not come back to finish. I ask to speak to the owner. I spoke to the President, Bill and he was very uncooperative and rude. On Friday the tile job started again and was completed without interruption. This took 7 days. Next was the cabinet refacing and they did it over the weekend never cleaned up or vacuumed as the work sheet stated. My husband had to do it. Following the first week in May they put on the knobs, we paid for knobs. Countertops come on the May 12th, 19th and 30th. First 2 were cut wrong. The 3rd fit, but they gave us a fight they wanted us to give them a certified check for there mistakes. Many mistakes but, I don't have the room here to tell you.
