BURT RICHARDSON & SONS

Late last fall, I discovered serious rotting at the bottom of the Pella sliding door to our deck.  I  knew Burt
Richardson from his excellent carpentry work for Henry Kuhn, who painted our house, and I asked Burt for help.  He came, assessed the situation, and with two adroitly placed screws through the metal bottom rail, stabilized the door and kept it operable through the winter. 
During the spring, my wife and I investigated Pella and Andersen doors, hosted their salesmen, and received bids from both.  Still, from checking the Internet, we were hesitant about their installers, and we thought the prices were high.  We preferred to give the job to Burt (he would buy the door and do the whole job)  because we trusted him and he would take responsibility that it came out right.  The overall price was also less ($4000; the additional $200 above was for the fall work, but charged with the door).  We ended up choosing Burt and are very glad we did.
Our house is 90 years old and while not large is quite beautiful.  It deserves care and understanding.  The options surrounding choosing a door can be overwhelming.  Burt said, "I know what you want, let me take care of that", and he was right---the door looks good (it is fiberglass), is very energy efficient, and the hardware choices are excellent.  Pella delivered the door to our garage.   Burt removed and disposed of the old door in about half a day.  With the help of his son, he installed the new door and cleaned up completely in a day and a half.
Burt is very skillful.  He has excellent hand and power tools.  He is both fast and accurate, and he really wants the customer to be pleased.   He is modest with a great sense of humor.  Looking at the door now, I am impressed with the accuracy of its fit to the existing moldings  and the level and balance of the door's operation.  My wife and I are very pleased and will definitely ask Burt next time.

This company was very good and easy to deal with. The communication was on a professional level and prompt. I originally planned to just have my kitchen and bath painted but after seeing the excellent job they did on those two rooms, I decided to have them do the entire apartment.
