Clay (Act One) is the best contractor I've ever used. He saved my project! I had contracted with another vendor to polish the concrete floor in my basement as part of a renovation to build out an in-law apartment. The previous vendor did not correctly polish the concrete and left me with a scratched surface with 3 coats of polyurethane with stones and bugs embedded in it. I called Clay and he came right out and agreed the job was a mess. He gave me a price to remove the finish and regrind and polish it correctly. He fit me into his schedule and came out on a Thursday and worked every day through a holiday weekend. He worked several nights until 10pm, which I had no problem with at all. I've never seen any contractor willing to do that before. Clay stripped the old polyurethane off the floor, then used real diamond grinding and polishing equipment and finished on time and the final product was beautiful. I can't express how much I appreciated his extra effort. He is a quality guy and I would recommend highly

Horrible experience, worst of my life.

It is two years later and I am still frustrated with the work of this contractor. The bottom line is that attention to detail was significantly lacking. Tiles slightly crooked. Layout of tile around points of intersection (i.e., corners) mismatched. Shower floor tapered towards drain is "lumpy". Shower light never fitted properly and they left heavy pencil markings on tiles. Finally grout started to crack and and erode less then a year later. I remember expressing concern along the way and was made to fell like I was being unreasonable. I finally just gave up and moved on... But I guess I really haven't.

Terrible experience. The contractor estimated the job at one day of work for less than $1,000. In fact it took four days and cost $1,600 (which included a discount for the inconvenience). To be fair, the type of tile made his job more difficult than he expected, but what proved infuriating was the lack of professionalism. He showed up one to three hours late each day, and would call to say he was "on his way" and not show up for another ninety minutes (twice). Two days into the project, he assured us it would take "two more hours", when in fact it took two more days.
