I have been spoiled by Mike Colombo and his team over the past 5 years! He's hired the best people and it shows in their work and their work ethic. The whole team are masters at shaping and pruning bushes, flowering shubs and trees, and I'm always grateful after they've finished because the foundation plantings, the front landscaping and mulching gives my home that extra special curb appeal!

We were very pleased to work with Mike Columbo and his crew. They were able to start work within a few days, worked hard, and remained pleasant and professional even when they ran into some surprises that caused the job to take a day longer than they'd originally expected -- and they stuck to their original quote even though it cost them a lot more time and resources than they'd expected.
First, because the water main had been leaking for about a month, the ground was very soggy and that slowed things down considerably as far as digging it out. Down at the street they were essentially working blind in a big, deep puddle, and the old piping on the *other* side of the shutoff valve came apart -- so they had to get the town to come out and shut it off further up the street. In the course of this they found that the town-side valve was all corroded and would have given out shortly anyway, so the town gave them (and made them pay for) a new valve, which they then installed. Additionally, in order to avoid our septic tank they ended up having to move two large forsythia bushes -- and we actually like them much better where they are now!
Through almost no fault of their own, this job was really a nightmare for them, but through it all they remained friendly and professional. We were very happy working with them and with the results. I think the only thing I wish would have been a little different is that our laundry room was left coated with concrete dust -- but given that these guys are excavators, not housecleaners, and that the job was probably worth (in retrospect with all the gotchas) about 2k more than they quoted and charged us, I don't hold that against them at all.
I would definitely recommend Mike and his crew for fixing this kind of problem, and if we need any landscaping done we'll turn to them first!

EXTREMELY POSITIVE. HE CALLED WHEN HE SAID HE'D CALL AND HE DID WHAT HE SAID HE'D DO. HE EXPLAINED OUR OPTIONS AND SOMETIMES RECOMMENDED THE CHEAPER OF THE TWO. HE FINISHED THE JOB A WEEK AGO AND THE YARD LOOKS GREAT. THE BILL ENDED UP BEING MUCH MORE THAN THE ESTIMATE, BUT THAT WAS OUR CHOICE--WE ASKED HIM FOR SEVERAL ADDITIONAL THINGS, LIKE STONES TO PROVIDE DRAINAGE WHERE THE SURFACE WATER TENDED TO COLLECT. (ORIGINALLY WE THOUGHT THE ONLY ISSUE WAS GROUND WATER, BUT OLD PHOTOS PROVED OTHERWISE.) MIKE WAS ALSO ABLE TO CONNECT US WITH A GUY IN THE TREE SERVICE WHO REMOVED ONE OF OUR LINDEN TREES.
