 + -1 moreI found our loan processor to be a bit snippy at times. She'd be friendly on the phone, but had an "edge" to her, and could be difficult to deal with. Our loan underwriter was the one who signed the commitment letter at the lower rate. At one point I phoned her about something, and she never returned my call. Very poor customer service. My original loan officer (an Asst. Vice President I think) was very nice, and would get back to me pretty fast when I called. He claimed he had no idea about my interest rate being increased, and he did apologize on behalf of the company, but the fact of the matter is that the company should have found a way to honor their original commitment letter, and if that was not possible they should have notified us immediately. Their lack of courtesy to notify us in advance gives the appearance that they are trying to hide something. I would stay away from this company at all costs.
Description of Work: We entered into a mortgage agreement with First Eastern last summer. They first issued a commitment letter indicating that our interest rate was locked at 5.25%, but at our closing we were suddenly informed that our rate was now going to be 5.375. They indicated that the rate increase had something to do with our income being too high for a subsidized govt. loan that we were applying for. At no point in time were we informed that our rate had increased, and we found that to be extremely unprofessional, and an indicator of terrible customer service. While the 5.375 rate isn't bad overall, the rate difference will cost us an additional $7,500 over the life of the loan.
