Stay far away! They started the job 2 months late and now are trying to charge me an extra 30% above the contract price!
Response from WILSON CONSTRUCTION
"Thank you for sharing your feedback. We aim to deliver a great experience for our customers. With any project there is a process for all parties involved that takes time when using any hired professional services before coming to a final agreement. We initially met in Aug. of 2019, the contract was signed in Nov. and both parties agreed to begin your project Nov. 25, 2019. However, projects can be delayed to inclement weather, which unfortunately is what happened in your case. Our contract states, “… weather permitting.” For projects to run smoothly and stay on schedule we request that the homeowner complete certain things before any work begins. The things we asked you to do were not done which slowed the process down to begin with. We pride ourselves on providing our customers with the best price and service; but unfortunately, there were unforeseen circumstances that arose within the field of work during your project. More work was required, so therefore there were additional costs to you. Communication is key, and we strive to be available to our customers daily. Our records show that there were numerous attempts to contact you via text, phone, and e-mail regarding required additional work that needed to be performed. It is extremely difficult to continue a project when we are not able to reach a customer to review and receive approval in order to complete a project. In your case this is exactly what happened. Again, we apologize that your experience did not match your expectations during and after project completion. Please feel free to reach out to Wilson Construction with any further concerns that you may have."

Quick and courteous response to my phone call. Came out and did an estimate very quickly. Their price was 40% lower than next best price. They ended up doing a few extra things not on the estimate and did not charge me. Due to the very rainy weather in June and July, they were not able to get to the job when they expected to, but once they scheduled it, they came when they said they would. The crew was courteous and friendly at all times.

Over the phone, I was clear that I wanted the flashing around one particular vent pipe repaired (on the back, left corner). I was also clear that I did not want to replace the roof. The contractor angled to persuade me that the roof needed replacing. I neglected to get a written estimate before agreeing to the work. On the day we agreed to have the work done I told the contractor that I could not have my wife there to let the workers inside until 1 p.m. He indicated that he thought the workers could arrive earlier to set up. There was no representative of mine present when the workers arrived to vouch for their time. As it turned out, my wife was only able to be at the house at 3 p.m. to let them inside to inspect the attic spot where the vent might have been a problem. They did so, and were done by 3:15. When I received the bill, the estimate below was quoted, indicating a charge for 4 hours of work. I called the contractor and expressed concern that this amount of time seemed excessive, given that I was fairly sure that I only wanted the vent flashing on one spot replaced. He indicated that he charges for the workers' time spent driving from Pelham to the site (one half hour each way), the time spent going to the store to buy materials (when he had earlier indicated that he thought he would be able to find a few shingles needed to repair the small area around the flashing), and time spent inspecting the entire roof. He also indicated that there were two roof vents (when there is only one). Although I conceded the transportation time as part of his bill, I questioned whether this job took 4 hours for 2 workers to accomplish; having had similar work done on my other house by a different firm years ago. He agreed to review the work and then offered a reduced price, which I paid, mainly to be done with the whole experience.
