The Riverview Company

The project was to be 8 weeks and it took 16 weeks. The attention to detail was just not there. They would come and work for a week and they disappear for 2 weeks and then come back. They got annoyed with the project at the end because they had so many other projects. They sent out one technician and they have subcontractors that they hired. The subcontractors were okay. They were professional. Their price was pretty reasonable. I would recommend them to no one.

Steven and team were very responsive - always answered the phone, polite, courteous, honest, clear. They completed the work to our expectations. The project was comparatively difficult - remove the roof deck floor decking and steps for access by roofers and rebuild the floor deck, steps, and deck sides using composites. Riverview worked well with the roofers (separate contractor) and supported them with carpentry and leak detection. Because of the complexity and unusual nature of the job there was one error during installation, but that was addressed competently and professionally working with the roofers. Great job by Steven and Nate! I highly recommend this company!

We were in the process of getting approvals from the city of Haverhill for adding a garage. We live near wetlands, so we knew there would be extra hurdles to clear. Initially, we were not going to get an architect for any drawing, but our plan required an appearance in front of the zoning board and the building inspector said we required at least drawings to code. Since approval from the conservation committe was not a guarantee, we did not want to spend more than we had to get our approvals. We contacted several architect firms, but only Riverview was willing to work with us. They gave us a quote for a lower level drawing that would meet the needs of the building inspector. We worked with Juli and she was very professional. She came to our house for the intial meeitng and we just clicked. She took down some basic information and listened to our needs. She contacted us a day or 2 later with a quote for the level of work that we required. She also quoted an option of full blown construction level drawings as well, so we could have an idea of what was instore for later. Juli had also contact the building inspector, to make sure the work she was doing met the needs for our project to get approvals. Juli told us that she couldn't get started immediately, do to other work, but promised a date within 45 days of our intial meeting. She delivered ahead of that original promise date. She also delivered a couple of different options, that we liked a piece of each. Which, she then combined for us into the final version for this pahse of the project. After the final payment and near the zoning board meeting, Juli followed up to make sure we had what needed and to wish us luck at our meeting. We were really pleased with effort and work product that came from Riverview company. We would recommend them to others. As a matter of fact, they were the first company we called to make drawing for the next phase of our project.

We got to know them through a next door neighbor. For a great price we got both design and build together. They're very professional and competent. Nice people.

I recently became an Angie's List member, for reasons unrelated to needing a contractor and unrelated to Riverview (needed a new dentist.) One of the first things I told myself when I became a member was that I should immediately see if Riverview is listed, because I should immediately write them a well-deserved, glowing review. But then I thought to myself, what if I do that and then all these people start to know about them and then we will never have them available to us anymore for future projects?! But I cannot be selfish and not share the wealth. Riverview is such an amazing company, with such skilled, professional, wonderful, and nice people that it would be an injustice that more people don't know about them, even if it means we may have to wait in line a bit more in the future. The company is headed by a husband-wife team, Steven and Juli. Steven is the master carpenter and Juli has an interior design background, and also takes care of a lot of the communicating/emailing back and forth, and site visits. I cannot say enough great things about Juli. She is just such a wonderful person. She is so super nice, and always responds to emails/phone calls right away. She is an excellent listener, and really listens so she could understand what you are looking for, what you want, what you need, and tries to find out what your style and preferences are. Then she makes useful suggestions and gives you great ideas, not imposing her own style on you, but going by what you, the client, likes. She is detail-oriented, never tires of our endless questions and emails, and her design background has certainly come in handy for us time and time again. She never tries to sell you anything you don't need, doesn't talk over your head, and is always helpful and friendly and enthusiastic. And her design ideas are great and input useful. Plus she is someone I'd want to be friends with outside of work! She loves kids, she loves people... she is just an all-around wonderful wonderful person. My husband handled a lot of the technical parts of our projects, so I am not as familiar with Steven. But even my amateur eyes can tell from the finished products that he has great technical skills, and is so good at sizing up a space and knowing what needs to be done, what can be done, and what shouldn't or cannot be done. Our house looks so nice now thanks to him and his team. I have never encountered a contracting/home-improvement company before that is not only professional and skillful, but good at communication, goes above and beyond what is necessary to make your home wonderful as if it is their own, and is a joy to interact with. Never a headache, never a frustration. Zero complaint from us, and we're on our third project with them! Our relationship with them all started with our neighbor recommending Riverview to us when we were looking for someone to help us re-do our portico. We contacted them and immediately got a response. That project got done, and we started another one the following year. Our third one will be starting this week. It is a bit of a pain to go without a kitchen for weeks, especially with young kids. But we cannot wait for the end result! And there is nobody else I would entrust this project to other than Steven and Juli. Thank you Riverview!

Tremendous combination of designer and builder. Julie and her husband and totally reliable, responsive and practical. It is like no other experience we've had.

Steve and his crew did a great job for us, proving to be top-notch carpenters. We purchased our house in early November and gave him 3 weeks to do all his work before we moved in (and also before the weather got bad). They got right to work, taking down the existing wood gutters and trim and replacing them with new PVC trim, crown molding, and gutters. They also inserted button vents in the soffits and channel vents in the roof rafters to improve ventilation (we live in a Cape). They then moved inside and replaced all the windows with new energy efficient, vinyl Harvey double-hungs. They look terrific and have made a huge difference in eliminating drafts in the house. They also did a great job building out a closet in the master bedroom before we moved in. To top it off, they were very good at cleanup (daily), which was a big plus. Overall, they provided excellent quality work at good rates. Steve was very receptive to our ideas and responsive to our tight schedule. It?s been two months now, and despite several heavy rain and snow storms, the gutters and windows have definitely made the house much more efficient and at the same time have made a huge improvement in the look of the house. We have plans to remodel our kitchen at some point and fix other structural/design things and hope to use Riverview again.
