 + -1 moreHe was excellent. He was able to show us where all the air leaks were. He let us know what we could do to weatherize our home. We have been in contact by email with him since and he always does a great job. He is very thorough and answers all questions.

 + -1 moreFirst of all, the audit was worth every penny if only because the blower door test very clearly demonstrated that one particular room of our home has a terrible air infiltration problem. I was about to spend a lot of money installing insulation in the oldest part of our home, assuming this family room addition had been properly energy-sealed since it was fairly modern. It has insulation, but air infiltration is our real problem. Tim explored the whole house inside and out gathering information. He was happy to talk his way through this. He determined that the attic insulation we'd had blown in a few years ago wasn't packed tightly enough to be optimally effective, so we know we won't call the same contractor again. The blower door test was the most eye-opening experience. We could literally feel cold air pouring in through our family room walls and floor whereas the original portions of our house felt just a touch cooler than normal with no drafts. What a GREAT investment.
Description of Work: Tim came to our home and performed a home energy audit including a blower door test. He measured our home, noted number of windows and their exposures, evaluated our appliances for energy use, and took information on our energy bills. During the blower door test, he walked through the house with us and showed us where air infiltration was costing us money in terms of heat loss. He explained how our most egregious problem area could be addressed cheaply and simply by us applying silicone caulking to seams in our family room wood paneling. A week later, he sent us a 14 page report evaluating our home and providing an improvement package (tasks to perform) with estimated costs. (Energy Egghead does not perform insulating or other work. They just do the audit). Tim was able to come on a weekend which was convenient for us. He would've been available to come within days of our call if we'd been able to work that into our schedules. Egghead Energy can also do infrared scans of homes.
