In early September 2017, I hired Ron Genovese to sand the floors on the first floor of my home. After several days of sanding, he completed the job. It wasn’t until after he completed the job that I realized he had damaged my kitchen cabinets and the trim on my stairway; the damage was extensive. I attained an estimate of $1200.00 for repair of both the cabinets and the stairway from the company that had recently refinished the cabinets for me. When I presented the estimate to Ron, he denied having damaged the cabinets and refused to pay for the repairs. He did not deny that he had damaged the stairway, but refused to pay for those repairs as well. Although Ron did a good job refinishing my floors, given my experience with him I would never recommend him.

Excellent! Ron was a very knowledgeable and hard working craftsman who had been refinishing hardwood floors for 20+ years. He responded promptly, visited our house within a week of us contacting him and gave us a reasonable quote, answered all our questions and was true to his word about everything. He worked alone but did very fine quality work and his clean-up was excellent. There was no trace of wood dust anywhere when he was done. The floors now look like new! We needed to schedule the work 5-6 weeks in advance in order to get into Ron's schedule.

Ron did an amazing job on the flooring! It looks better than I ever imagined, and he also very kindly adjusted his schedule to do the work while I was out of town. He was diligent about managing the (inevitable) dust, and repaired the faulty installation in a few spots as needed. Overall I am very, very happy and highly recommend R & R Flooring.

Ron is "the crew".   He is an experienced craftsman who is a consummate professional.   He averages a 3 month backlog, but he still is able to respond to every question in a timely fashion.   We had several iterations deciding on the final choice and design of wood.  Ron ordered a sample board for us to ensure that we were completely happy with the choice of wood. Once we came to terms of the flooring, he was able to preform the work on the date that he had promised.  We particularly appreciated the fact that he tends to order the "upgraded" quality of flooring. We are very happy with the floor and are enjoying the beautiful new look of our family room.

Excellent job. We contacted 5 other flooring contractors before we found Ron. Ron was the first person to listen to what we wanted vs telling us what we should have. We were very frustrated and it was incredibly refreshing to talk to an expert who understood our needs and made appropriate recommendations. Based on our criteria (type of flooring, color, durability, dimensions, price), he directed us to the perfect flooring. Ron kept in frequent touch to make sure logistics were in place. The installation went so smoothly. Ron is a meticulous professional who does outstanding work and our floor is gorgeous. Our dog loved him.

Ron was very prompt in returning my initial phone calls. After that, we used email, and he was again always quick to respond. The job had to be spread out over 5 days to allow for sanding, a coat of stain and then three coats of polyurethane varnish. These floors were especially challenging as there were long gashes from a carpet installation over thirty years ago, as well as prominent pet stains. Ron explained just what we could expect from him regarding these flaws in the floors and proposed using a provincial stain to minimize their appearance. He demonstrated what natural stain vs. provincial would look like, and the choice was obvious. The result was excellent, and we were glad we took his advice, even though it was more expensive. Ron was on time every morning and always cleaned up thoroughly.  There was almost no dust left over.  He explained very clearly what he was doing and was always very pleasant to talk with.  We have hired him to do at least 2 more rooms next month.

My wife and I hired Ron to refinish the floors in our new home, and he did a fantastic job. We hired Ron because he did some work for my company a couple of years ago and saved us a lot of money in the process. This time around, Ron was just as professional and detail-oriented as he was the first time. In fact, he even took the time to give us a heads up about a few issues he noticed at the house that were unrelated to the floors. After Ron finished his work, the whole house was brighter, and we felt even better about having bought the house. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ron to other homeowners.

Many years ago Ron refinished the floors in a number of different rooms in our home.  He did an excellent job then and since it had been 12 years or more since we had been in contact, I wasn't even sure if he was still in the business.  I found him online and he immediately responded to my call and came out to give me an estimate the next day.  His estimate was in the ballpark of others I received, and while not the least expensive, we decided to use him as we had a history and knew his work is high caliber.  He is very responsive and reliable.  Also, we realized we were going to be out of town for part of the time this work was going to be done and we knew from past experience that we could completely trust Ron to be here when we were away.  We were not disappointed in any way!  The room looks fabulous and we were thrilled with Ron's work.  We highly recommend him!

About a month ago, I hired a film crew to shoot some scenes at the house of an Acton resident. After the shoot was over, we realized that the crew had accidentally put some scratches into the living room's hardwood floor. After seeing that Ron Genovese of R & R Floor Co. was so highly reviewed on Angie's List, we asked him to come out for an estimate. He was able to set up an appointment within two days, and he arrived on time.
Based on the number of scratches in the floor, we were worried that the whole floor would have to be recoated, but when Ron arrived, he offered to touch up the scratches and save us some money. Ron easily could have taken advantage of us, but instead he was honest and helped us get what we needed without overspending. In fact, he even did the work right then and there instead of setting an appointment for another time.
Bottom line: we'd absolutely recommend Ron to other local residents looking to get their hardwood floors repaired.

We had a dishwasher leak onto our hardwood kitchen floor which caused some buckling. The insurance company recommended having the entire floor refinished. There were several areas requiring hand sanding and a great deal of nails that had to be pounded in before he could start. We got 2 estimates, the other was substantially higher by hundreds of $$. Ron was fairly priced, and very nice to talk to and work with. He works alone, which we were very happy about. We set up the date 2 mths ahead of time and several days before he was to start, Ron called to confirm and set up a time to bring his equipment over ahead of time. He showed up exactly when he said he would and did exactly what he promised and took great care to reduce any dust from sanding. We had no sand in any other rooms, and barely any in the kitchen...just on the counter surfaces, but it was minimal and easily wiped away. He put up plastic between the kitchen and the rest of the house which meant that we had no odor at all throughout the house and were able to sleep there all week. The job was started on Monday morning and he finished on Thurs. morning and we moved everything, including furniture, back in on Friday morning. The odor we were left with in the kitchen for the next few days was nothing more than if we had painted and it was VERY tolerable. He gave us written instruction on how to clean and care for the floor to keep it from getting black (we had been using Murphy's oil soap on it which darkens the floor). The floors look fabulous! The only thing that wasn't terribly convenient for us was that he starts at 7:30 am and we would have preferred a little later starting time, which he said he couldn't accommodate. Other than that we couldn't be more pleased. We would have Ron back in a heartbeat.

Ron was a professional from start to finish.  He takes pride in his work and it shows.  I had been warned by others that the sanding process would leave dust everywhere.  Not so in our case.  Ron carefully closed off the rooms to be sanded and cleaned the area well.  Our floors look fantastic.  I highly recommend Ron and his work.

We felt that Ron did a good job.  He tried to help us save money by suggesting areas to only surface sand and recoat, and he actually refinished more of the kitchen than he initially put in his bid.  The floors look great.

I chose Ron from a list of four.  The first company called sent someone for an estimate.  He was personable, gave me a verbal quote and said the formal quote would come in a few days.  It did not.  I called and emailed multiple times with no response. I submitted a report to Angie's List and the company denied ever hearing of me. 
Ron gave me advice and work I would absolutely recommend him. I had my floors sanded and refinished less than two years ago but the people who did it were not able to sand out several pet stains.They just poly?d over them. The result was a light colored floor with
several black stains.  I decided to get advice on what could be done, including replacing the floor. I chose 4 companies from Angie?s List.  Ron was number 4 on that list. He arrived punctually for the estimate and was always available to answer phone calls and emails.  Ron presented a solution to my problem which was sanding, staining and applying a finish.He explained the process, gave me his professional opinion of what needed to be done and answered all my questions in detail. He suggested a color and type of finish best suited to the job (dark enough to blend with stains but  not too dark for aesthetics.) Ron Genovese is a highly efficient professional. Ron?s advice on color and finish proved to excellent.  He took the ?curse? as he put it, off the floors. .  The workman ship is excellent.  They are gorgeous. I like them more than when the floor was new. The color and finish really accent the rooms.  Ron is the Rembrandt of floors and personable to boot. He gave me verbal and printed advice on do's and dont's of wood floor upkeep including taking a look at what I had been using.

We have older hardwood floors from a house built around 1910.  We had the floors initially refinished about 10 years ago with a water based sealant, and it was showing a lot of wear, especially near the doors. 
Ron gave a quick estimate on refinishing, and we were able to arrange for the work to be done while we were away. 
The whole process was quick and painless in terms of coordination of work schedules and payments.  
The work was done exceptionally well ? the finish was a nice satin finish that brought out the natural grain of the wood and protected it, without appearing thick and plastic, like some oil finishes can.  
Great work and efficiently done.  Highly recommend R&R.

The service turned out very well. He did everything he said he would do and he did an excellent job. He was very helpful in terms of timing and providing information on the floors. He completed the work quickly and efficiently. He also cleaned up after his work. In addition he returned phone calls very promptly and was very knowledgable in the different types of wood flooring available.

Ron showed up on time for the quote.  He was thorough in asking the right questions, recommended how to reduce the impact on our family and promised a quote in a day.  He delivered the quote on-time and it was very reasonable.  I decided to go with Ron as he seemed to really take an interest in doing a great job since he does all of the work himself.  Every morning he showed up on time, worked carefully and quickly and left my house clean.  He used vacuums hooked up to all of his equipment and there was minimal mess.  I am really pleased with the work that Ron did and would recommend him to anyone.  I will hire Ron again in the future for floor installation or refinishing.

Ron is a personable man who is knowledgeable about flooring and really cares about the quality of his work.  He returned calls promptly and once hired scheduled the job and started the job at scheduled time.   The work was done over three days and each day he was punctual,  professional,  hard working and did a good job cleaning up the floor dust.   He was patient answering the many questions we asked and we trusted him in our home while we were at work.  Once the work was complete Ron was responsive when we called with more questions.  I highly recommend him.  

Ron refinished our floors twelve years ago.  They still looked very good, but we decided to redo them.  They now look better than ever.  He uses a finish coat that gives the floors a soft, velvety look.    Ron is always prompt and his work is very neat.  In fact, because of the great care he takes in sealing off rooms, there was hardly any dust in adjacent rooms and very little dust even in the rooms he worked on.  Wonderful Job!!!

Ron did an excellent job refinishing our hardwood floors in the living room, dining room, kitchen, entry way, and stairs. Much of the flooring was very worn. In addition, he replaced wood in 3 areas - one water damaged, and 2 pet damaged. The finished floors look exceptional. There was virtually no dust. I got 6 estimates and Ron was one of the more expensive; however, I believe the products and workmanship were more than worthy of the expense. Ron used superior products, was very meticulous in his work, was punctual and trustworthy, and always interacted in both a professional and congenial manner.

WE first contacted Ron in NOV 2010 when we purchased our farmhouse in harvard. The  hardwood floors upstairs were in rough shape and we asked that he squeeze us into his schedule the week prior to moving into the home. His calendar was booked up but he told us he would work to fit us in. He called us twice the week prior to our closing to finalize dates and times, but we ended up closing late and barely had enough time to clean the house before moving, let alone finish the floors.  The hardwoods upstairs had been covered by linoleum and tarred, and in January  we asked Ron to come take a look at them to see if there was any way they could be salvaged. He did some research and found a sander that had diamond blades on it that he thought might remove the tar. He purchased the blade for our floors and came by later in the month to test it out. Unfortunately the new blade was not able to remove the tar. Ron ended up returning the blade because he had bought it specifically for our job and did not have much use for it.We called Ron back last August after finding a contractor who used a sandblaster to remove the tar from the wood floors. Ron returned to our house and took 4 days to finish the 3 bedrooms and hallway. The antique wide pine floors turned out absolutely beautiful. Working with Ron was a pleasure. He was polite, prompt, easy to contact and trustworthy. He went out of his way to try and help us. We have indoor cats and he made a special effort to keep them indoors while he entered and exited the house.  What I especially appreciated was that he made a solid effort to be clean and quiet- I work nights in the ER and was sleeping on some of the days he came to work. We still have the downstairs and half of the upstairs floors to refinish and repair and will definitely be calling Ron again. Elizabeth LaPointe Harvard Ma

All hardwood floors on first floor of town house sanded and refinished. They moved all the furniture out and replaced it. Very nice accomadating people.

I highly recommend using R&R flooring.  The quality of the work was excellent.  Ron takes a lot of pride in the work he does and the results are worth using him.  He was very punctual, finished when he said he would, provided daily updates on where his progress was, and finished the work within the timeframe he provided.   He found a few pieces of flooring that were a different type of wood than the rest of the flooring (I couldn't tell the difference).  He gave us the option to replace the pieces with new pieces.  The cost was $90 extra.   When the work was done, he completely cleaned up the work.  There wasn't any sign of dust or trash left in the house when the work was done.  The cost was a bit higher than other companies that offered similar service, but the quality of the work and his professionalism made it worth the cost.  I highly recommend R&R.
