NOW Design is owned by a First Rugs, a rug store based in NY, with a location down the road from NOW Design in Acton, MA.
In retrospect, I should have been incredulous from the outset of my contact with this design company. I met with a design assistant who quoted me price for initial consult and was later told it was not accurate. This assistant visited my home with designer#1 to take photos, consult etc for room redesign. The first person (assistant) I met with then disappeared and no one explained where she went, etc. Designer #1, with two new colleagues, designer#2 and new assistant, were brought into the design process, which started all over again. A new design was presented which was very good. However, soon thereafter designer #1 then disappeared, again without anyone mentioning really that she had left. Worked for a bit with designer #2 and the second assistant until they of course also soon after disappered. Kept calling and emailing to no avail. Although designers were talented and had good ideas, the entire business side of things was a disaster. I was left midstream in the design process. I am glad I had never got to ordering furniture. Too unprofessional to really describe. I think it NOW has likely gone out of business. I surmise that the parent company (First Rugs) likely makes the management of the business somehow dysfunctional and designers do not stick around. However, I am also surprised that the individual designers, no matter what the situation with First Rugs and the business side of things, never had the decency to at least be in touch and let me know they were leaving. Stay away from this business if it somehow comes back from the dead at all costs !

The quality of the materials and furnishings were really good. The pricing was significantly marked up and in the end after providing deposits on a couple of pieces they disappeared. I never received all of the merchandise and there have been no responses to emails or phone calls

Project is still in process and likely will be for a while. Initial consultation is reasonably priced and they don't charge by the hour when they are trying to find coordinating items. They encourage you to buy through them but you don't have to.
So far they have provided great design and have worked through my likes and dislikes. They picked out a gorgeous rug for our office that I would never have picked out for myself but love! We also purchased a sofa through them, throw pillows and they are having an existing piece re-upholstered for us. The quality of what we have received so far has been great. Work has slowed down somewhat but when I email, they are very responsive.
The designers and other staff are personable and pleasant to work with. Only thing that could improve the process if is if they can convince my husband to buy the gorgeous chandelier they have in the showroom...
