Nivaldo managed his crew well. They completed all required work in a professional manner for fair fixed prices. In 3/2016 Nivaldo came quickly in response to an emergency request to fix a squeaky floor. Despite the urgency of the request he did not overcharge.

NJF appeared on the agreed time and accomplished all repairs in an efficient manner.NJF ,also recommended new,stronger brackets for use with my gutters.I was happy with this improvement and the brackets are invisible so they don't ruin lines of the house.They cleaned up all of their debris.Very happy with outcome.

We have used this company for several things in our home and we are pleased with the quality of work, the owner's workmanship and his professionalism. They have reasonable fees and I recommend him very highly.

I called Nihvaldo to come give me an estimate to replace a sliding glass door to our deck. He came quickly to give an estimate and quoted an amount that seemed fair to replace the door. He was going to check on the actual price of the door and get back to me before we moved ahead. He took weeks to actually get me a price, but then came back with a price for about &1500 for the actual door, plus labor. He asked me to send him our choice for the door hardware, which I did, and then again he went weeks without calling me back to move ahead. When he finally did call back he said he wanted to come measure the door again. When he measured it again he upped the price for the door to about $1800 plus labor. When I said ok, he called the distributor, and the price went up again to $2200 for the door because he now said the door required a custom size. At that point I just wanted to move ahead, so I said fine, paid him for the door, and he went off an ordered it. After he ordered the door I asked him to quote me a price to replace the 2'X2' piece of wood under our dishwasher, and install 3 tiles there. He said it would take about a day (around 8 hours) to do the work, and I already had all the materials and tile, so there would be no cost for that. At his price of $45 per hour, his quote came to $360. We scheduled the time for him to come do the work. On the day the work was to be done, Nihvaldo arrived with another guy (Junior) and they proceeded to start the work. Shortly after starting, Nihvaldo left and Junior continued to work. Nihvaldo came and went a couple times throughout the day, but did little work himself, leaving Junior to do the work. This seemed fine, since really this was a simple one person job (scrape up the old warped wood, install a new 2X2 piece of wood, and install 3 tiles.) During the day, Nihvaldo came to the house with a couple long strips of thin laminate kick plate to install on the bottom of the dishwasher so it would look better, and he suggested that they should install that behind the dishwasher as well so that if it ever leaked the water would not soak the floor. I agreed and this was a simple thing to do (cut three pieces of laminate and caulk them in.) When they had finished the tiles they pushed the dishwasher back into place, only to find that the dishwasher was no longer working. It was making this loud noise that it hadn't made before, and when I asked about it Nihvaldo's attitude was that it was no big deal, and he couldn't figure out why it was happening. It wasn't until it became clear that no water was entering the dishwasher that he agreed it was a problem. He spent lots of time trying to tell me that it wasn't his fault that the dishwasher no longer worked, and I was clear that it worked just fine before they started working on it. Finally, since we couldn't be sure if Nihvaldo actually broke it or if the dishwasher just coincidentally picked that exact moment to break,, I suggested a compromise where we would buy a new dishwasher and Nihvaldo would simply attach it at no charge. Nihvaldo agreed, and I went and bought a new dishwasher. The next day the other guy (Junior) came and attached the new dishwasher, and nailed on the rest of the kickplate they had removed (about 3 linear feet.) 2 weeks later I got a call from Nihvaldo. He stated that he wanted to run through the bill with me to make sure I was happy with it. He proceeded to tell me that he and Junior had spent the entire day of the 3rd working (minus one hour they went to lunch and to check on another job), plus Junior spent three hours the next day installing the new unit, for a total of 17 hours. I said "we agreed you would not charge me fore the installation of the new unit", and he agreed, but wanted to charge me for all the hours the day before (16 hours minus the hour he went to check on another job.) So the bill would be around $700 plus $76 in materials. He said he wanted to make sure I was happy with that, and I told him it was more than twice what he had quoted me, and that no, I was not happy with that. He proceeded to tell me that they did a lot of extra work that they hadn't discussed originally (such as attaching the kickplate behind the dishwasher), and I told him that was a ridiculous amount to charge for a simple job of replacing a square piece of wood, installing 3 tiles, and attaching a piece of laminate kickplate. I also told him it was ridiculous for him to charge me for his time the whole day when he wasn't there for most if it, and instead his assistant was the only one here doing the work. Really, this was a simple one man job and now he was charging me for 2 guys for an entire day. He continued to argue, and finally I said "Nihvaldo, just send me your bill and I'll pay it, but know that I think its outrageous for you to charge that much for a simple job when you had quoted less than half that amount." He finally said he would lower the bill to around $500, but that he would just have the sliding glass door for the other job delivered to me directly and he was not willing to install it for me anymore because I am "too difficult to work with." So now I need to find someone who will do the sliding door work, and hope that Nihvaldo measured it correctly. Totally unprofessional in my opinion.

They replaced the gutter and repaired the roof. They did a good job with that, but he is not dependable.

The job went very well. He really understands how things are constructed. He is very knowledgeable about what he does. He has good people working for him. They are punctual and do good work. They also clean up after themselves. We just finished a couple of projects with NJF Home Repairs & Remodeling.

Outstanding. we've used them before, and been pleased with their responsiveness to both phone and email, their timeliness, the quality of the work and the price points. Can't recommend them highly enough!

They helped us make the right choices for our doors, making re-use of our recently installed storm doors. the installation process was done on time, with great quality AND great clean up afterwards. Very responsive to phone and email, very personable in person, and great to hire.

They were great. They came out as soon as I made the phone call and gave me a quote really quickly. Nivaldo was able to identify some problems at our house and fixed them pretty readily. All in all it was a pretty great experience. He encountered some problems as he went along due to finding additional damage to our house upon what he had been called out to originally repair but it fixed it very quickly. He left the jobsite extremely clean. All in all I had a very good work relationship with him and I had a great experience with the company. I would highly recommend him. His price was very reasonable and he was able to schedule us in very good. He was able to work with us on the schedule. I ended up having to leave the country very quickly and he was able to finish up the work before I had to leave by working on Saturday and Sunday. I would absolutely use them again.

They were great and flexible. Their crew was smart and did the entire work for us. They were very responsive. Their price was good.

The banister that runs along the hallway over our stairs had become so loose that it was hazardous to our toddler, who likes to pull and push on it. After examining it, Nivaldo explained that there were two options to fix it. The first would be a guaranteed solution, but required tearing up quite a bit of flooring to get to the sub-floor (would have been a much bigger job than I anticipated). He offered up a second, simpler solution that he thought would be good enough for what I wanted to accomplish, but said he could not guarantee 100% that it would work. I was really not interested in the mess and cost that would have come from tearing up and replacing the flooring, so I rolled the dice and went with Option 2. The banister is now quite secure, and Nivaldo left the area spotless upon completion.

He did the work on two different occasions. He was very sweet and did a really good high quality job. He is not really great about billing and needs somebody to help him with that. He worked really hard and long.

They were good across the board. We found them on Angie's List and they had a coupon that they honored. Billing wise, he watched and explained his time. Everything timewise was marked accordingly to the exact time he was working and I appreciated that. There was good communication and he showed up when he said he would. There was one other person helping him and they were neat and cleaned up well after they were done. The work was good. We are probably going to hire them back to do a little more work.

They were very professional, courteous and were experts in terms of carpentry. The quality of their work was good and I was satisfied with their service.

Original call was returned quickly, the owner came to give them an estimate and once we contracted with them, the work was scheduled in a timely manner. Everything was done professionally and with great care. The job was completed fairly quickly and we were very happy with the results.

Nivaldo came by after a phone call. His response was very prompt. After investigation, we talked about the price and he finished the work in a day. He was willing to use leftover paints as long as it doesn't compromise the qualigy to reduce cost. His work was great, and I've even got some discounts.

This project went very well. The project was challenged at the start by Town of Acton regulations. We had to hire a local engineer to design a structure that would meet our objectives and comply. The permitting process took nearly 4 weeks after that, Nivaldo bird-dogged it pretty well. Work, once begun, went well and smoothly. The quality of the work is impressive, and we are delighted with the result. They did a great job cleaning up, and the project came in on budget. Highly recommended!

I discovered "NJF Home Repairs" in a local community paper. They returned my initial call promptly and came to my house for an estimate the next day. The estimate was somewhat higher than the other contractors but the owner's professionalism and honesty seemed worth it. The local references I checked reflected that as well. After one fully remodeled bathroom and ceramic tile flooring in my basement (and other minor repairs,)I am pleased to say that I am very happy with the work and my decision to go with Nivaldo/NJF Home Repairs. I highly recommend them to anyone. Their prices are competitive, but to me the important matter is the quality. In fact my neighbor went with one of the cheaper contractors and ended up calling NJF to fix some of the errors. It goes to show - You get what you pay for!
