At the time of the appointment, I did not know that I had to have a form filled out by the electrician that attested to the fact that knob & tube was not active in the house. When I sent the form to C & D Services, a rep called to tell me that the tech could not sign the form because he only checked the second floor of the house. Oddly, this was not true, as I went through the house with the tech. Since they were unable to verify that the tech checked the walls, basement and attic. I did not receive the service for which I paid. When I called and spoke to a service representative I was told that the technician was on vacation. On three later dates I called C & D, asked if I could speak to a supervisor, and on each occasion I was told that a supervisor would return my call. No one from C & D Services ever returned my calls, despite the serious nature. In the end, my regular electrician (who initially was out of town) did the work, and I had the C.C. company do a charge back.
Description of Work: I hired C & D in order to have a licensed electrician verify that my house did not have active knob & tube wiring in the walls, attic and basement. While I knew that the knob & tube wiring in the house was no longer active, this determination was required to be made by a licensed electrician before I could have my house insulated with blown-in cellulose. The exact nature of the job was made clear to the technician who came to perform the service, the estimator who had previously come out, and to the service rep who booked the appointment. I went through the house with the tech, and as is my practice. I took notes on what the technician is doing and on what the technician tells me. After his inspection, the electrician said that the house did not have active knob & tube wiring. He and his assistant then changed two outlets on the first floor from 2-prongs to a grounded 3-prong. This is a task that took less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the job did not end here and did not end well.
