We contacted Bortell Stroud in March to do a partial remodeling of our house which focused on integrating a fireplace into our living room.  Dave, the owner, was our primary contact and he was always honest, responsive and helpful throughout our entire construction process.  The initial estimate that Dave provided did not change, unless there was a major design change, and our research showed that his pricing was on par with other contractors for most services, but Bortell Stroud had a substantial advantage when it came to cabinetwork.  Due to the extensive cabinetwork involved with our built in, it made Bortell Stroud's estimate very attractive.  During the 3+ month project the contractors arrived promptly in the mornings and very little of the work was subcontracted.  We felt very comfortable with all of the workers and the quality of the work from the carpentry to the painting to the electrical was all top notch.  Even after the project was completed months later, Dave was willing to address and fix any issues that came up.  A great experience and we would highly recommend Bortell Stroud for complex or small remodeling projects.
