Gabrielle's

I  was trying on gown's at Gabrielle's, and had a very friendly, helpful sales person to help. I was about done trying on gowns, when the sales lady, Beth, brought in a Nicole Miller that was just beautiful. It was also deeply discounted. Being it was too large, Beth worked up a price on the alterations. Luckily, I asked her to write it down. The next week I came back with my mother to get fitted for the alterations. The owner, Helen, said Beth was out due to a medical procedure. She shook her head when she saw the about the price on the gown, and kept commenting on what a "steal" it was. She then stated the alterationswould be $600, Beth had quoted $240! I pointed out that this was almost triple what Beth had quoted, and she got very irritated with me, and insisted that was the price- even showed a price breakdown listed on the wall. (The numbers did not even come close to adding up.) Luckily I had the price Beth had written down in my car. Helen was clearly annoyed when I returned with it. She did honor the price though, and the first fitting went fine. When I returned for the final fitting a few weeks later, Helen refused to have the waist taken in the way I wanted. She insisted that it did not fit the style of the dress. I should have been more foreceful at that point or just taken the dress elsewhere, but I had little time. My wedding was in a few weeks. They ended up being late with the last alterations, as she said her seamstress had some problems. Cut it very close to the wedding date. All in all the dress was beautiful, and was good quality. The shop had some very nice gowns and a good selection. Helen's unproffesionalism and dishonesty was what ruined the experience. She clearly wanted to make more money on that dress. I am writing this review to warn future brides to watch her figures carefully for alteration, or just bring it elsewhere to be altered.
