On 26 May 2013 my wife and I visited the Zale?s store located at
the North Shore Mall in Slidell Louisiana. We had two rings, one originally purchase from Gordon Jewelry and the
other from Zale.  Both were due for their 6 month inspection, which is required by both Jewelers to maintain a lifetime
warranty. We have been bringing both rings to this Zale's location for years. The
Gordon store closed about 12 years ago. We were instructed by Gordon?s to
continue the six month inspections with the Zale?s store which was located in
the same mall. Occasionally the rings would require adjustment which was always
completed at the store at no cost. However on this visit we were informed one
of the rings, a Marquise anniversary band, had a stone which was loose. The Zale?s
associated informed us there was a $45 dollar plus tax to tighten the setting.
I pointed out to her that we were never charge for past adjustments. I also
pointed out the terms outlined in the Gordon?s warranty agreement which states
?Gordon will provide, free of charge, all services required to secure the stone
in their mounting?.  The Zale?s associate then attempted to sell us a $130 dollar lifetime warranty for maintenance on
this ring.
The associate refused to sign off on the six month inspection
unless we paid for the repair which we did in the amount of $45 dollars.  I wrote to Zale's customer service department
on May 27 2013 and received an acknowledgement of my email the next day.  I called customer service June 3 requesting a
status.  I was informed that the District
Manager named Richard (no last name provided) was forwarded the email.  I never heard back from customer service or
the District Manager. On June 9, I sent letters to two Zale's' executives,
Becky Mick, Senior Vice President, Store Management and Toyin Ogun Senior Vice President
Customer Service. Neither contacted me as of this date.
I believe this action is not in concert with the Zale?s/Gordon
warranty policy.  I also believe that not honoring the warranty constitutes an unfair consumer action. I am disappointed
in the manner Zale has handled this issue including the lack of response to my
initial inquiries.
I am requesting a refund of the $48.94 dollars payment and future
adjustments be made without any charge per our warranty.
Update I was refunded my $48.94.  Thankgs Angie's list.
