Norman Shephard

The house took over 16 months to build and is full of problems. We moved in August 2012 and Norman Shephard has not shown up for a single appointment to rectify some of these issues. I cannot begin to list all of the issues we are having. The home inspection has 78 items listed! All I can say is someone in the Permits office must have gotten paid off. We have so many code violation in my house! Now I have to pay to have all of it fixed out of pocket! The parish had to come out for an unrelated inspection and notified me that my main electrical line is not to code. This is what forced us to do a home inspection. Concrete porch is 3inches higher than the interior of the house, poorly sloped, and no flashing in place. (Water runs into my house when it rains.) Gutters all sloped wrong way, holding water Balcony sloped the wrong way Outside of windows not sealed, so we now have water damage under windows inside Hardwood floors buckling, installed prior to A/C and not acclimated Transitional molding all cracked within days becuase the wrong type was used Mold disaster from a plumbing hole that wasn't filled in properly in the bathroom walls. The hole was large enough that we can tell rats got in and ate the insulation around hot water pipes. Wood bleeding through exterior, only one coat of paint used. (update: columns are rotting because of water issues on the second floors) Main power line is inches within upstair balcony handrail (code violation) (Update: his electrician finally came back and corrected this) Lightning Rod were supposed to be installed inside of walls but instead on exterior of house. Lightning Rods wrapped round the OUTSIDE of the gutters (gutters would melt or burn if they took a strike) Exterior doors not hung properly (you can see daylight through all the doors) Walk-in shower flooring not properly slope, standing water Dryer vents into attic KITCHEN STOVE VENTS INTO ATTIC!!! Beam in living room is sagging UPDATE: After fighting the insurance company for three years we were told that he had a ghost policy and it didn't cover anything of his work product. Plus a few days after our third anniversary in the house, we took water into the house a second time. Hardwood floors shot, sheetrock ripped, door jams swelled and cracked, and the battle of mold resumes. The water seems to be coming from the upstairs porch but we aren't certain because water is coming in at multiple spots and running down the walls to the first floor and flooding several rooms.
