Laborers were sent to dig the trench for the line from our property, only after Dottie was contacted to come locate all utility lines as required by law. Our water supply line was severed, the property located immediately to the west of our house had their water line cut, I am almost certain the property two doors to the west had their water line severed, and I can confirm that the property two doors to the west had their gas-supply line severed by the laborers. Needless to say, our neighbors were highly upset. The laborers apparently fixed the broken water lines, but the water coming into our house still runs with a dirty stain in it. The laborers were run off by a representative from the company when they busted the gas line of my neighbor around noon one day. I was never informed of that, the laborers just left without notice. My neighbors let me know about this.
To make a long story/experience short, I will just list some of the situations which we had to deal with regarding this company.
1. Gerard was spot on with his estimate of digging and installing the gas service line.
2. Gerard will not return phone calls, even after the nice lady who takes the messages said she gave him our messages. The entire job took over two weeks to complete, and my wife and I can both confirm Gerard never returned a call. He did call shortly after 7 a.m. one morning to see if our fireplace purchase had arrived.
3. Poor communication regarding progress of job.
4. Laborers had to ask to borrow my towing chain to pull their equipment out of the ditch and returned it the first time. The second time, they just walked up and took the towing chain without asking and took it back to the shop with them. I had to call the answering service and left a message that I wanted my towing chain back. I found the chain rolled up the next day just outside my garage without a thank you, sorry we took your chain, or kiss my foot for troubling us.
5. At least once, maybe twice, a plumber from this company came out and spent less thant an hour looking at things and did little, if anything. Once, this person came out around 4 p.m. and looked at the generator and fireplace line and said it was too late for him to do anything since he got off at 4:30. ( I did not confirm that I was charged for that visit or not.) I did speak directly with that particular plumber, and he promised that he called back to the office and they would be out first thing in the morning to get on the job. They did not follow through on that promise and we had to call to get someone to come out.
6. Once the gas line to the fireplace was installed, the fireplace specialists came out to install the necessary equipment. There was very little gas pressure coming in to the fireplace and the flames were not much higher than a few inches. Fireplace specialist told us to contact the plumbers to get more pressure.
7. Plumber came out a day or so later and told us there was a regulator inside our wall since propane was used previously for our fireplace and that was limiting the gas pressure going to the fireplace and they would have to open up the wall and remove the regulator or re-route the gas line directly to the fireplace burner. At this time, we had had enough of this company and contacted another plumber who had done work next door. He came out and increased our pressure by simply removing a control valve inside the house at the fireplace and cleaning it out. He said there was no regulator in the wall.
With all this said, the primary complaint we had with this experience was the lack of communication from Gerard, who we considered to be the foreman on the job. He never once returned our calls when we left a message at the office. One time, he happened to be in the office and the lady put us through to him.
We waited before writing this review so that we could post our experiences without anger or bitterness and so that we could be as objective as possible.
The ladies who answered the phone for this company were attentive, professional and seemed to care. I can't blame them for any of the negative experiences we had with this company. They did their job well.
This time I called b/c after a prolonged trip abroad my neighbor warned me that while I was gone the city had turned off my water due to a leak and water pooling on the sidewalk. It turned out the water was on, but it seemed like the pressure was low so I asked Rinchuso's to come check everything out. The plumber checked all the taps and cleaned out mineral build ups in all the faucets then checked for a leak (and showed me how to check it myself in the future). That was really all I needed, but I think he felt like he hadn't done much to fix the low water issue, so he also removed the governor in my shower head to improve water pressure. (I think the pressure was probably normal. I just wasn't used to it after several months in a place where no one bothers with low-flow shower heads.)
The first time I used Rinchuso's (April 2013) they addressed the pilot light on the water heater which kept going out. Two previous plumbers from another company failed to correctly identify the issue--one even told me there was nothing wrong even though at that point the pilot light was going out every 2-3 days. I thought I was just going to have to check and relight it twice a day, every day unless I wanted to replace the whole thing. The guys from Rinchuso's identified the issue immediately, spoke directly to the warranty replacement operator when she tried to convince me I didn't need all the pieces I was asking for, and replaced the faulty parts when they arrived. I haven't had to touch the heater again since!
Rinchuso's will always get my plumbing business.
The rep looked under the cabinets and could not find a leak from any of the hoses and pulled the kick plate off the dishwasher and shined a flash light under it to conclude the problem was with the dishwasher and that there was a leak in the pump. He recommended getting a new dish washer and said the service to fix the dishwasher would be more than it was worth.
While he was inspecting the problem, I noticed he received at least two phone calls which he stopped to answer and was giving advice to someone on a personal matter. I won't go into details, but he was on my time and taking off to receive personal calls and give advice. I noticed once more that he was on his phone while working outside for a lengthy period of time.
One faucet was fixed outside, but he didn't have a handle to fit the other faucet and I sent him on his was after he suggested I could fix the problem easily with a phillips head screw driver and they right handle.
We went to a local outlet to purchase a new dishwasher the next day and had it delivered and installed. The installer said that the leak was not from the dishwasher and informed us it was in a hose that had split running out of the washer a couple of feet out. He said he could see where the plumber would say the dishwasher pump was leaking since the water was running back down and dripping from that particular area.
We had talked about getting a new dishwasher one day in the future, but actually, the old one did not need replacing at that time.
