I was contacted by this company after finding their name on the Service Magic website. Dave called and we set an appointment for 6:10 pm. No show. I called his number and got his answering machine. He called back 10 minutes later and said his car broke down and laughed. Set appointment for the next night, same time. I saw a car drive by but I thought it went to our neighbor's home. Dave finally knocked on the door at 6:30. He looked at the project. He called two days later and gave me an estimate of $400.00. I decided to get other estimates so I did not call him back. He called me back several days later. I told him I thought his estimate was too high and said I had an estimate for $225.00. He said he would do it for $200.00. We set a time for Friday morning at 7:00 am. He and his boss showed up half an hour late. It took them 2 3/4 hours to do the job: They put roof cement around the vent through the roof. They took down a portion of the ceiling that was 2 ft by 4 feet. They kept the area clean and put all of the waste material in a large garbage can. They used hand saws to cut the sheet rock, which appeared to be a left over piece as it already had portions cut from it. They put the sheetrock up in about four pieces as they had to go around two vents. I told them I wanted the sheetrock one inch from around the vents (as suggestd by the home inspector). When I looked at the ceiling, the sheetrock was still less than an inch around both vents. He then taped and put mud on the sheet rock. They cleaned up the driveway area where they cut the sheet rock. Dave came back out the next day....was about 10 minutes late. He finished up with the mud. Said he had to order the metal collar and would have to come back. He arrived the next Monday (about ten minutes late) with the collar. He sawed the sheet rock back away from the vents and installed the collar. There was one small hole about an 1.5 inches round that they did not fill in....not sure why not?? Overall they did OK, but I was not happy with their being late each time. I also wondered why they would have charged twice as much for the job than they finally agreed upon!!!
