Mccalls Industries Painting

It went fine at first.  I thought they did good work (and they did), but Mr McCall kept coming back saying it was very expensive and he needed more money.  I ended up spending more than was on the contract, but I thought that was how these things went.  I now know better.
It started to get weird when he asked me out, and I said no, and then he suggested that if we went into business together, and I gave him $3000, that he would do any repairs I wanted on the house.  I asked for it in writing, and he said fine, he'd have his guys drop off the contract in return for the check the next morning.  The next morning the guys show but without a contract.  I ask them where it is, they call him not knowing what I'm talking about, and he tells them to tell me he'll have it there that afternoon.  I give them the check.  That afternoon I call, and he tells me he would have come by, but he's having problems with his truck.  I tell him I need a contract as I've just given him $3000.  He says he'll bring it by the next morning with breakfast.  I tell him I don't want breakfast, I want a contract. 
The next morning, nothing.  He calls around lunch, but I already called the bank to stop the check.
He inflates his prices, and he is untrustworthy.  I have to admit, it was good work, but the whole asking me out, then not giving me a contract for the $3000 I gave him was a learning lesson not to use him again.
