BLUE CROSS & BLUE SHIELD

BCBS is prompt in processing claims submitted by physicians. Their coverage is good. Their prices are high, but I think that is the way of most insurance companies now days. My complaint with them is their communication--good if you contact a competent person on the phone, very bad and misleading if you don't. That causes major problems and misunderstandings. For example, I and my husband both understood from the paperwork received from BCBS when we signed up, that the max out of pocket per person was $1500, but that the family would never have to pay more than $5600 out of pocket. Well, the confusion is that the $1500 is for a policy with only one person on it. If there is more than one person on the policy, the max out of pocket is $5600. This came as quite a shock when one of my children had and ambulance ride, ER visit, and several expensive tests done. I called BCBS ahead of time to verify what was covered, and how much was covered, and was told one thing, only later to find out something completely different. I felt like a bait and switch had occurred. Nothing I can do about it except pay my bills, but I am left with a very bitter taste in my mouth.

So far I'm pleased with their coverage. They have not denied any claim that I have submitted.

Blue Cross covered nearly all of the costs for this surgery. I was amazed. I had to pay very little out of pocket expense. The turn-around for the payment of claims was about 30 days. I would recommend Blue Cross insurance to anyone.

The rep put me on hold while she talked to them, and worked it out. She was very nice.

I use them because they are part of my employment. They are okay and take care of my needs.

They are great. They cover most of what I need coverage for. I have no complaints about them. They are pretty good. I got it through my employer after I retired so price is good.
