Tthe job was supposed to take two, maybe three weeks. I kept a calendar with days worked on it. I would have to call him most weeks to see if anyone was going to show up and work. Many of the weeks I only had a worker one day during the entire week. Try living with your kitchen disassembled for 4 months. When we entered the fourth month I gave him a choice between finishing within a week or quit the job. He chose to quit the job. We had problems all along the way with quality of work. Most of the painting was good. Crown molding was good. There was a constant battle over the finish of the cabinets. The cabinet insides haven't been properly sanded and finished, they are rough. I tried to explain to him that they weren't cleanable. The outside of the cabinets have a tacky feel. That means that kitchen grease, dust, ect will stick to them. Also uncleanable without removing the finish. After 4 months, they still have a tacky feel to them. They will need to be refinish at further expense to me. The expensive Travertine flooring does not have enough grout between the tiles. I am having to get someone else to see if they can be fixed. There are many other problems that we had with this contractor. Another major problem is that he has not paid his subcontractors and they are coming after us for payment. As mentioned above, this was to be a turn key job. Don't fall for that, besides the up front money, he will want you to pay for most everything else up front so he won't loose out if he chooses not to finish your job. He will not enter into a written contract with you. Don't let anyone start a job without one. He made the statement to me before he started the job that his major problem was getting the money from the people he worked for. That should have been a bid red flag! Being the trusting people we are we tend to think: they must be bad people but I should have asked WHY he wasn't getting paid. I bet that his performance was similar. I would stay away from this guy at all costs.
Description of Work: We contracted for a new kitchen. Included were new cabinets, countertops, crown molding, painting. This was to be a turn-key job. All materials were to be provided by contractor.
