To sum it up in one word: PROFESSIONAL. When Kevin first visited, I was impressed immediately. He was clean cut, serious, and didn't shun my small project. I felt comfortable a key in the lock box and totally trust them, because Kevin was there most all of the time, and had quality people working for him. The electrical and plumbing was done by Kevin and one of his employees, no subs. He is a perfectionist, and it shows in his work. He noticed every little detal. He made a line item bid, allowing us to scratch what work we decided to do ourselves, such as the tear down and painting. He never minded my phone calls or millions of questions. He went above and beyond, in other words, making us feel like we were the most important customer. He was instrumental in making my granite installation happen without problems, even though I had already chosen my installer and didn't use the company he normally uses. The company he uses wound up being HIGHLY recommended by a person who is nationally reknowned in granite work and trains installers from across the country. I found this person on the previously mentioned website. He said he'd never seen a better seam than those done by this installer - so if you go with Tri-J you can rest assured on the granite install too. I'm grateful Kevin included a fee for overseeing the granite install in the bid, because it absolutely paid off. We ran into numerous problems where Kevin's help was needed. The wall skimming was perfect, even over some of the gouging of the sheetrock which occured from us removing impossible to remove wallpaper. The kitchen has cathedral ceilings, and the skimming there was very professional as well, and made the paint job I did a breeze. We were very pleased with the way that the refrigerator was hooked up. He had to go up a wall, over the attic and down another wall as we moved it across the room. He included a shut off valve recessed into the wall which was a nice touch, and made sure to use the proper copper tubing to prevent leaks in the attic. We'd initially scratched an item from the list - setting up a temporary sink. We did that job ourselves after removing the cabinets. They had to take it back down a couple of times when working in that area, but they re-set it up each time with no additional charges, which I thought was very nice. Another little thing they did for me was to adhere my Never MT to the wall and soap dispenser. After a nightmare experience with the contractor who built my husband's shop, I feel very grateful that I found Kevin and Tri-J. We live in Central, a part of Baton Rouge, but not close to Port Allen, and although the transporation costs were surely factored in - what I paid was a fair price. There was a day here and there where they had to attend to a problem and couldn't come. But, Kevin called every morning and let me know what was going to happen that day. This I really appreciated. He made some recommendations, but never pressured me to do more than I wanted. I felt like the project was done in a timely manner. I'd interviewed 3 other Baton Rouge contractors with whom I didn't feel comfortable . One offended me by asking why was I hiring a contractor when the job was so small. Although I'd asked for the bids to be made in a manner where I could compare apples to apples, the others mostly did not comply. No one but Kevin gave a really simple, easly to read and understand bid. He probably wasn't the least expensive bid, but you should never go for the least expensive anyway. I'd heard too many horror stories and I'm glad I paid what I did for not a good but a great job. Total price $7600. Peace of mind and job well done: PRICELESS!!
