They came at a time that was different than set up and we weren't home.  The gate was hinged on the opposite side than what was requested.  When we questioned it we were told that's how the estimator drew it.  We did not ask them to install a new gate as that seemed a little much.

I ordered  burglar bars for 1 window, and an iron door for the back of my house from Security
Iron on 6/28/13.
When I placed the order I told the salesman if they did a good job on the
1 window and door, I would order bars for the other 9 windows on our house.
The installers arrived on a Friday morning at 9:00 am as
scheduled. Problem is, the installer didn?t seem to know how to install the
door frame, as he had to drill extra holes in the frame to attach the frame
strip to the door jamb. In doing so, he left 4 large, jagged edged holes in the
frame/strip where he mis-aligned the holes on his first attempt. He also failed
to install the necessary strike plate on the door jamb for the deadbolt latch to catch in.
I called Security Iron?s Office the next day, Saturday, and
spoke with Tom, the ?installation manager.? He said he would call me back and send
someone out to look at the problem. No one called or came out Saturday.
I called the following Monday & left a message-no one
returned my call. I issued a stop payment order on the check.
I called on Tuesday, 7/16/13, gave details to Johnny, who
said he?d have Tom call me back. No one called me back.
I called Security Iron again Monday 7/22/13, Wed 7/24/13,
Sat 7/27/13. I spoke with Johnny or Tom each time and was promised they?d come
out to repair the bad install job. No one ever called me back or came to fix
the damaged part.
They were supposed to come out again on Sat 8/3/13. Again,
no call back & no show, despite the fact I stopped payment on the check.
Now I have to see if a BBB complaint will help me get the problem fixed.
Based upon my experience with Security Iron, I would avoid
them at ALL costs. Even if they fix the part their installer damaged, there is
no way I?ll ever let this company work on my house again. I STRONGLY advise you
to avoid them.

During May, 2013, I telephoned the original salesman and requsted that he come inspect the five year old fence for rust damange.  He called me a short time later and indicated that he found no problems with the fence.  I requested that he meet me in person.  With his second visit, he then acknowledged seeing the rusted out sections of the commercial steel fence and gate bottoms.  He stated that the rusting must be due to wet conditions caused by rain splashing up on the bottoms of the fence and gates from the flagstone.  I asked why this was not mentioned when they offered to do the work five years ago and received no answer.  I asked the company to offer a price to repair the fence and they have refused.  I was told by the original salesman that they did not want the job because it will happen again.   Apparently, this company's commercial iron grade fence is not worthy of the rain fall in the NOLA area.  After spending a considerable sum with this company five years ago and now learning of their workmanship & products, I would not recommend using this company.

I called them when it quit working. They took 5 days to get to our home and the gate buzzed the entire time before they got here. He put in a new battery and it still didn't work. He then said we needed a new motor, which cost $400. We bought a new battery to see if that would work and discovered that the battery their rep had installed had never been connected properly. It seemed as if they were just trying to sell us a new motor. I also purchased a lock for my mail box that is attached to the to fence and they still have not given this to me. The fence also rusted shortly after installation and they had to come out spray paint it. It stil has rust spots on it though.

"This gate operator and fence was installed 2 years ago. We have been out to the Higgins home 7 times (we complete a service order each time) in the past 2 years. We have never charged them for one of these service orders. Our normal warranty is for 6 months, yet we have gone above and beyond our commitment. This customer expects to have service for as long as she can get it for free. We have done everything she asked, we do not build the gate operators we can only service them. The customer refused to pay for the part that was needed at this last visit and because Security Iron Co. would not fix the operator for free, she in turn decided to write a scathing report to Angie's List. Again, the customer has been using this gate operator daily, for over two years."

I run a condo complex.  We have two large sliding care gates made of wrought iron.
Overall a horrible experience.  The lead contractors don't seem to have any sense of personal responsibility, nor care about customers, but are quick to try and collect.  Will likely not do business with them again.  Make sure not to pay until the work is 100% completed.
We engaged them to perform work in May, they didn't finish it till July.  A job that should take a day.  The only way I could get Jim to finish the work was to withhold payment.  The moron acted surprised when I told him I wouldn't pay until the work was completed.
We had a gate operator brake, and I asked them to come out and give a quote.  Their markup on the unit (excluding install) was ridiculous.  I dealt primarily with Jim Stoddard on the quote and contract setup.  I decided to go along with his quote primarily since I was in a rush to get it fixed.  When I went in to sign the contract he had jacked up the price another $300, which I can understand some differences from a quote and the final contract, but this was too much, and he acted like it was standard.  The guy was a skeez ball about it to, acting like it would take me forever to get it fixed if I didn't sign it then.  
I was able to talk him out of $100 of his poorly planned quote.I  t took them 3 weeks to come to the condos and install the new unit.  It didn't end there.  They couldn't get it to work, and I ended up having to incur another $700 to replace the receivers and remotes we use.  This was something Jim Stoddard should have told us from the get go that the new operator was not compatible with or current system. 
When they installed the new receivers the technician broke the safety eye on the gate that wasn't broken, and still couldn't get the new gate to work properly, so we ended up a month and a half into the nightmare with 2 broken gates.

"It is a shame that Member has not retracted these statements. We have been out to his complex and repaired his system. He had numerous problems with the gate system which was poorly kept up. If we had initially installed the system it would have been done right in the first place. Short cuts had been taken and added cost reflected the troubleshooting involved in isolating the problems with the existing gates and operators. It is extremely difficult to see or anticipate these problem in an initial visit and ESTIMATE for repair. Member should confirm that his gates and operators are currently working and in good order. Security Iron Co. stands by its record of taking care of our customers."

They are very good and reliable. They explained that I could buy parts for the gate online for cheaper than what it would cost to go through them and they would install them. My fence is still in wonderful shape.

Two days after the doors and windows were installed I called Security Iron to let them know that my back security door wouldn't close properly. They said they would send someone out to fix it although no one ever came out. Now two months later, the handles on three doors have broken so that two of the three doors are stuck shut. I've called on a regular basis to request that someone fix the doors. They make appointments with me and don't show up. I'm not able to exit through either of my back doors (the house is a double). My experience with Security Iron has been terrible. And when I call they imply that somehow I broke the doors.
