I hired another handyman as well to.hrlp with the furniture installation. Only 2 pieces got completed. The good news is he has all the tools needed and he knows what he is doing. The bad news is it's very slow, expensive, and was talking to other clients while on our job.

Thomas’ guys did a good job of remodeling my outdated bathroom. They installed all new plumbing, electrical, drywall, tile and paint. Thomas is very prompt and responsive in handling any/all construction issues. The overall project was within budget and right on schedule.

There is one thing you need to know about Thomas and Renaissance Man; he will stand behind his work and do whatever is necessary to make it right. We hired Thomas to renovate our master bathroom. It involved demolition down to the studs, adding walls, extensive plumbing and electrical work, and high quality finishes. I have experience in renovations and know that there are certain things behind anyone's control. There are also mistake made on occasion. The important thing is, does your contractor take your money and run, or does he repeatedly respond to you and make it right? Thomas made everything right. He always had INTEGRITY and I knew I could TRUST him. Those are rare qualities in the construction world and I would recommend him to anyone because of that.

The standing shower floor was replaced. I thought work was done average, nothing to be amazed about. I requested to create a small slope towards the drain, so it would reduce standing water. The slope was not smoothly done, floor had small dips throughout the floor. ***Customers BEWARE*** Thomas gave me a quote, and "verbally" mentioned, "it would cost $ 400 to have a plumber come install the shower liner." Please be very careful since his estimate is very misleading. He charges $1,500 for labor, so I assumed the plumber cost would have been included on the labor. He should have state everything that's supposed to be on his estimate, but he "forgot" to add other expenses to the estimate. Not professional of him to say that he "forgot" to include additional expenses to the quote. I definitely would not hire him again, nor recommend anyone to him.

"Customer called me out to assess his leaking problem in a shower that was tiled with many imperfections. I told him that I thought the problem came from the liner installed and that needed to be changed by a plumber and would cost $400. I then told him that I would charge $1500 in labor plus material to do the tiling job. I gave him a written proposal for my work. He called me to do the work, which we did after the demo and the installment by the plumber. I gave him my invoice and stayed with $40 that I quoted him. I also told him that he owed the plumber the in the verbal conversation mentioned $400. I tell all my customers upfront that I personally don't do the plumbing, electricity or hvac work on my jobs I leave that to licensed professionals in these fields. I have been working with the same people for years and therefor recommend them but I am not affiliated with them nor do I get a percentage of their pay. I leave it to the customer if they want to use their own people or the ones that work with me. So in all these years that I have been on Angie's list this is now a first that I am being accused of trying to mislead a customer about the cost of things. I guess I can check that off the bucket list!"

Did excellent job on installation of floor tile in four rooms. The crew is punctual and does clean, professional work. Contacted Thomas over a year after the job was done for some follow-up work which was done with no drama.

It went great. We have a beautiful space now upstairs where we previously just had a big open area. Essentially, he created an apartment. Thomas had great contractors he worked with. The electrical and the plumbing people were great. I bought most components (tile, sink, stove top, fixtures, vanity cabinet, etc, on line and at local spots,) but he also was willing to do this. He got us a great deal on beautiful top of the line solid wood shaker style cabinets and quartz counter top. HIs carpenters were very careful about making the kitchen fit into the space. When there was a problem such as a light fixture in the wrong place, or the rail height, he tore it out and did it again without a moment's complaint. I would love for him to do another job for us. He is very efficient and responsive. I have not had this sort of experience with a contractor before---efficiency, consideration, aesthetic sense, perfectionism.

I had to call a few times to arrange work. I also had to remind him that the debris was not removed from the property and that final caulking was not done by his staff. However, Thomas the owner, was fair and took off the $250 for removing debris and did the final caulking when he came to pick up check. End result very nice.

Excellent, from start to finish!!!! The Renaissance Man is like no other... I phoned Mr. Koch and explained my dilema, he immediatley offered to come take a look that same day! After inspecting my "incomplete shower make-over" (that a previous guy had begun) Mr. Koch assured me he would remedy my problem in 2 - 3 days. He gave what I feel was an honest opinion and a very fair & affordable estimate. Mr. Koch and his staff were professional, timely, and delivered quality work, making my experience worth my time and money. I will use the Renaissance Man in the future and would recommend them to anyone.

It went great. Thomas was great to work with, he was very good at staying in communication and making clear what he and his team were responsible for, and what I was responsible for. Great troubleshooting ability. I had never done anything this big, and frankly, wasn't very good at it, but he was very forgiving. He helped review my plans and identified potential problems, as well as cost effective solutions. This was a huge project as far as I was concerned. The floors in the existing bathroom and a dining area were torn up, exiting bathroom completely wrecked out, a closet in the master bedroom was wrecked out. Underneath the tile in the dining area, we found original wood floors, which the team was able to salvage and use in the new closet area on the project. We had all new plumbing run into the former dining area, new ceramic tile installed, new tub, vanity, and custom shower with marble and glass tile built. He ran his team well and emphasized quality work over speed, which I appreciated. During the course of the project, we ran into to some "discovery" work, which is typical for a house constructed in 1921. There was a lot of rotten wood and unusable cast-iron piping. All this was brought to my attention and repaired correctly at a very reasonable price. The only problems we ran into on the project were self-induced. Lacking experience, I asked to put things in a certain place or way, and then changed my mind. Thomas was very accommodating, and although I'm sure I probably frustrated him, he didn't make me feel bad about it. In the end the project turned out amazing and the rooms look better than I expected. Very happy with the results and I would highly recommend Thomas for any work. I hope to use him for more projects next year.

This was the second project I had Thomas do. As before, the work was done in a timely manner and to our satisfaction. Thomas came in as soon as I contacted him about our hot water heater flooding our condo. We left for a week to let the Servpro people dry it out and when we returned Thomas had already started the demo. Working with cabinet and countertop installers, Thomas finished the job. I highly recommend this company. Thomas and his crew are quick to respond, professional, able to trouble shoot problems, and honest!

The job was very satisfactory from start to finish. The first time we met with Thomas Koch we knew he would be a good match for our needs. Originally we thought we might have a budget for a new kitchen but with Thomas we were able to stretch our budget a bit more and get a new bathroom as well. We first met with him in September of 2015 and our entire job was completed by the end of November. The timing was really great. All of the team were very pleasant to work with. For the price we were paying we felt the entire job was very fair and reasonable. The best thing about Thomas is that he gave us a bid and, except for what we added during the renovation, he came in right on budget. He showed up when he said he would and made no promises that he did not keep. We would highly recommend Thomas Koch and his team.

When we started our search for a contractor to restore our turn of the
century home, we were nervous. We had heard all of the horror stories
about bad contractors from all of our neighbors. Dividing our time
between California and New Orleans would also be a challenge. Trust was
a big factor in choosing the right contractor. Renaissance Man, is the
poster child of TRUST in a general contractor.
He gave us realistic timelines, advice, and direction - no fluff!
Communication is key in any project. When we were out of town, we were
sent photos of the work in progress. He was reliable! So many in the
industry are flaky and sloppy with their customer service, not Thomas. We knew we had found a gem in Renaissance Man.
Our project started from the gutted house phase. His team saw us through
the entire renovation, bathrooms, kitchen, floors, laundry room, just
everything. Thomas was flexible and patient with us. This was the first
time we restored a Victorian house. We were our own designers and
learned a lot along the way. Thomas was wonderful to work with -
patient, flexible, provided advisement and was fairly priced.
We LOVE our home and loved working with Thomas and his crew. This was a
big job with some surprises along the way. Any snags were resolved as
Thomas guarantees his work and will see to it that things are right.
Reliability and trust were huge factors in seeing this renovation

I am very thankful to Thomas and his crew for the amazing job they did renovating my home. I was very nervous going into such a large job but I couldn't be happier with the finished product. Of course, no big job ever goes off without a problem. And I'd have to say this was one of the best things about working with Thomas. Whenever there was any hitch in our plans, he would go out of his way to ensure the problem was solved and that I, as the customer, was happy with the end result. He often gave me advice on problems that sprang up and helped me keep the cost in line. It became very clear to me over the course of the job that Thomas is very proud of his work. Both his reputation and having happy customers is very important to him and it shows in the quality and timeliness of his work.
Each member of his crew was great and every sub-contractor Thomas put me in touch with also repeatedly delivered quality results in great time. I have to especially thank his electrician who took the time to work with me and make sure everything was perfect. If there was any weak link, the plumbing sub-contractor sometimes worked a bit rushed and needed to be called back to move something or resolve some other minor issue. But again, this was a 100% pluming upgrade, the issues were very minor, and Thomas worked with me and made sure the work was completed and I was happy.
Big jobs like this aren't always a walk in the park, but Thomas and his crew left me with a beautiful home I am proud of. I wouldn't think twice about working with him or getting his advice on any future projects.
