I've used R & S for over 35 years. They are very knowledgeable and if you ask, they will explain in detail any work that they performed on your vehicle. They're also a very popular repair shop so you will have to call ahead for an appointment. They're honest and have never done any work that they didn't feel was necessary. You feel like you've been treated like family and not like you've been ripped off.

They are no-nonsense mechanics. I get older cars and they tell me what I need to repair and how to live with things that are too expensive for the value of the car. Sometimes they say - drive with this for awhile and we will repair when it gives in. I like that my pocketbook is considered when they advise me. Honest guys, too. Their kids and extended family work at the shop too.

From taking my initial call for an appointment to picking up my car after repairs, it was a pleasure dealing with R and S. Yes it's true that they couldn't take my car immediately, I had to wait a week before bringing it in. They're very busy because they are trusted by so many. When they were ready to take my car approximately a week after my first call, the car was ready by lunchtime. I much prefer that to dropping off my car and having a garage hold it for a week. There were a number of issues with my car due to deferred maintenance, I sincerely appreciate that the mechanic called me himself to tell me the problems in order of priority-awesome! You can direct your and quot;mominemand quot; to R and S and know that R and S will listen patiently to concerns, diagnose the problems, and stand behind their work. I am preparing to do a summer road trip with just my four year old daughter and feel extremely secure that we will be safe due to the warm and kind professionalism of the folks at R and S- -you can't get a better recommendation than that.

Located this repair service on Angie's List, never used previously. Car A/C quit blowing cool air, assumed it might be compressor. Called Rand S; very polite but no appointments were available for nearly 2 weeks. This was my only disappointment with the experience. Brought car in at approximately 9:00 am on appointment date, and left it for estimate. Received call late morning that problem had been identified and repair would cost about $195.00. I authorized repair and got call around 2:00 pm that car was ready. I believe that once I could get my car in, the entire process, response, service, professionalism and cost were all excellent. I will say that the long wait to get an appointment appears to be a norm as my dealership had a similar wait had I chose them and another repair I've scheduled with a different dealership for my daughter's car also has about a 2 week wait time. I would definitely use R and S again based on this first experience.

I have had my 2003 VW Passat serviced at dealers (Southpoint VW in BR, where I bought it, then Walker in N.O. for a while) at great expense and great chagrin, even being cheated and endangered (a different story; I have full documentation). So finally I decided to try an independent mechanic. Your reviews of R and S were tops, so I tried them.
Everything went very well, despite my apprehensions. The repairs were needed and done well, as far as I can tell. There were no greasy fingerprints in the car, and nothing new was broken. The price is fair. What more can you ask.
I'll definitely use them again.

I made an appointment, the mechanic diagnosed the problem, and i was given an estimate to repair the auto. The resolution to the problem was thoroughly explained, repairs made, and the car returned as promised. Ray and his staff were polite and professional. They put the customer first.

It went nowhere. My car failed to start this morning. I wanted someone to look at it today, but R and S couldn't do it because they're by appointment only and they're booked through the week.
Appointments are great for regular service, but not so great when you have a problem right now.

I am absolutely pleased with the service we received at Rand S. They were professional and friendly every step of the way. My 1999 Suburban was stalling so I made an appointment to bring it in. I had to wait a few days but it was worth it. I dropped it off the day before my appointment in case I had trouble getting it to them. (Thankfully, it did not stall.) The next afternoon, I received a phone call from Ray explaining what was wrong. He called for my permission to perform the repair and gave me a price for the work. Two hours later, I picked up the car. When I arrived, Ray showed me the broken part. Explained why it could not be repaired and had to be replaced. Very thorough. Very professional. We have since brought my wife's car in for routine maintenance. She was thrilled with her experience as well.
